We have about 8 months of winter here, I do this too to help combat the seasonal depression! I'm trying mushroom farming as my new indoor project this season.

Got excited seeing a notification for this. You could make an entire series. I'm trying to start an indoor "tea garden" for the first time. I want to try chamomile indoors but I'm a bit nervous about it bc of the the flowers. Also I was like wtf how did you take your greenstalk apart so easily but realized it's bc it's the leaf not the original. I assembled the original myself and it was so awkward and heavy 💀. Can't wait for updates. I'm growing Tulsi too (for tea)

This is such a beautiful video. Thank you for talking about seasonal depression. I also struggle with that during this time of year

Yes! Growing inside is a huge goal of mine in the next couple years. So far I just have an avocado (who came from a pit so they probably won't produce edible fruit) but I'm hoping by next winter to have space for a lot more.

It's been tough finding a community of homesteaders that are plant based like us. We have a good size veg garden and some chickens. We don't eat meat or dairy mostly because of the health risks. We need to move out of Southern CA so we can afford more land and a change of lifestyle. I'm interested in the north east. So thanks for sharing with us.

We lived for many years not far from Sunshine Farm. it is a beautiful area of New York. Can get pretty snowy and cold in the winter, but plenty of water and no wildfires (we live in Colorado now and that is something I am not getting used to.) So check out central NY, Finger Lakes region or going west towards Buffalo. Land is VERY much cheaper compared to CA (or CO - we moved here to be close to our daughter.)

I just found your channel, love the idea of a plant based homestead. In texas so our winter is a couple days lol. I have a good friend in upstate NY who just recently got her PhD as well. She says winters are rough.

Hey, i just came across your channel. I want to move to upstate NY from Dallas, TX to start a homestead. Would i have to get a livestock permit to have goats?

    • @SunshineFarm

I don’t believe livestock permits are a thing here. As long as you have sufficient land and it’s zoned properly! 5+ acres is often required, but not always!
