Going cashless is a lot of the reason so many people can't do simple math in their heads and make proper change without pressing in the exact amount. We as a nation are getting lazier and dumber because of conveniences like this.
Honestly, I stopped using cash because I was tired of fighting for correct change from cashiers who can't make a dollar with 4 quarters. Not everyone, but it was becoming more and more common where I'd be missing change and had to wait around, show receipts, even wait for security camera footage when I was missing $50 of my $52 odd change. And when my credit card got compromised, Visa was already investigating the charge before I could report it.
So true. I am 52 so long time ago at 15 when I was a cashier for the first time, my mom told me to count up to make change. Person gives you a dollar for a 25 cent item, count up to the dollar. Of course I was taught to count change as a toddler, save my change in a piggy bank etc…things have changed. Don’t get me started on kids also not being able to tell the time on an analog clock. Some people think this is just paper going away. Its value and freedoms getting taken away. Also they want digi money 4 digi slaves and for digi taxes on any transaction. 100% control of your money. So it wont be yours really.
I still use cash so I hope not. One of the reasons we overspend is due to convenience. I agree with the cash only places, it saves money for them. Each transaction takes a % off plus a monthly fee on top of that so business can expect that payment. It's ridiculous since it's the Credit Card Company who makes more money in the end.
@@olivergoncalves1217 it benefits those who use credit properly, and don't carry debt. It's definitely not a benefit to those who cannot manage their own personal finances though.

Unless you drop your wallet or get robbed or the bank is closed. Of course you'll try to say you keep it buried in the back yard. Bet you said you'll never use a cellphone or computer either but here you are.
Cashless would mean having to keep paying high account fees to get multiple or unlimited transactions to banks. Using credit cards for everything can very easily get anyone into a debt trap. Paying with cash triggers pain-processing areas of the brain, which is important to control ourselves from overspending, specially to younger people!
I disagree with the model of thinking that says Canada could/would go cashless. Although there is a segment of society that totally trusts cashless, there is a far greater part of society that doesn't. Cash is here to stay and in a significant way.

If we go cashless the only way to do so will be to fallow Sweden’s playbook which they will then add a Negative interest rate which was discussed in the House of Commons and BoC. This would then Promote spending and make it more expensive for you to sit on money. cash and crypto..government has no control and no fees. Debit is ok if you create an account that you load a limit on and dont spend beyond your needs.
I believe transaction fees with credit or debit cards would be passed onto the customers from now on, so that’s not an incentive to become cashless if businesses would start charging additional fees to our bills.
Even a lot the informal economy is using e-transfers these days. Gonna be a hard shift for the holdouts in the coming years as fewer and fewer want to deal with it. Hopefully they can adjust to their new budget realities 🤷♂️

Can Canada ever go cashless? “New reality” hmm sounds like you already made the decision. Nice propaganda, I continue to use cash never met a person who didn’t accept it.
That's the World Economic Forums plan , already signed on by Canadian banks. Central Bank digital currency tied to a socal credit score. They will tell you what you can and cannot purchase or delete your funds completely.
What you can or can not support, etc. Oh you support the right? Well we are blocking you from using our currency because your anti-semetic.
"Oh no, the Illuminati is out to get me!"

@@zepher664 unfortunately if you've taken the clot shot they've already got you .
Okay. Are you aware mental health services are available for your paranoid delusions? No one is forced to use them. They are a convenience like cellphones or toilet paper.

NO. Nor should it or any country.
I still use cash cause I work and get tips in restaurants than spend on my car gas and food by using cash cause my debit card I go atm and sometimes I travel Asia they still use cash
a BIG NO THANK YOU
Give the devil a ride and soon he'l be driving.
Can't buy cocaine with a debit card, let me know when that happens and then maybe.
Does E-transfer from debit account count?
@@ColeMartin13 no serious coke dealer is moving any real weight using e-transfer lol, maybe the highschool plug but that's about it

Cash is better it helps you spend less when it's debt you don't think of the cash you waste
funny i heard cash use was on the rise....i try and use cash as much as i can
Stop trying to push the cashless agenda !!
No
Believe, don't believe. Cashless will bring about social credit scores. Canada is also developing a carbon tracking app. I believe this will also get linked to our financial transactions. Look to pay pal !
Deleted mine ,control of your own money , they can stick it I say !
If we go cashless the only way to do so will be to fallow Sweden’s playbook which they will then add a Negative interest rate which was discussed in the House of Commons and BoC. This would then Promote spending and make it more expensive for you to sit on money. But your assets would end up paying themselves off so your home you bought at 500K with a negative interest rate you would end up paying less in the end.
This still won’t solve our housing and poverty crisis they would likely also have to implement the UBI which the bill was passed already now if it’s implemented that’s different:
Cash is KING. Credit Cards = DEBTS
Cash only ...! ( bravo. )
Cash = freedom . I live on an island we have windstorm the power often goes out and what I've noticed is people without cash are totally screwed.
Very soon the plan is to shut down atm's the banks are going bust a huge run on the banks. Already starting in the US. Keep some cash set aside now.
on another note...most business are switching to cash cause of the fees...If the customers were to pay those fee..everyone would switch back to cash.
Why the hell would we want to go cashless?
Cash only lol. You know, I gotta pay my taxes so, so do you. This is about not paying taxes and I’m sure you price your menu so people tip more to avoid change. I came across a place like this once and they directed me to their atm - nope I refused. I left, went to my bank across the street and came back, I’m sure they were worried about me not coming back, but why the hell should I use an insecure 3rd party bank machine.
cash and crypto..government has no control and no fees. Debit is ok if you create an account that you load a limit on and dont spend beyond your needs.
Naa we like cash.
I believe transaction fees with credit or debit cards would be passed onto the customers from now on, so that’s not an incentive to become cashless if businesses would start charging additional fees to our bills.
Amazing how everyone keeps getting in line to get screwed by digital hackers.
NO !!!! a cash is king
Yes its called the carbon tax and out of control inflation. I'm cashless all the time now.
Give it another year under Trudeau and we will all be cashless and broke.
You honked at a trucker. You're bank account is frozen. Nuff said.
Let's not make the mistake and take away the cash option. It takes one outage for the whole country to come to a screeching halt.
No chance
The question is not CAN it is SHOULD.
And track you.
Rogers is down!
Reading the comments....doesn't appear many people are pro-CBDC 's. Including me.
Even a lot the informal economy is using e-transfers these days. Gonna be a hard shift for the holdouts in the coming years as fewer and fewer want to deal with it. Hopefully they can adjust to their new budget realities 🤷♂️
It's the same with every technological advancement and convenience. The holdouts on cellphones now can't cross the street without texting on one. One issue not mentioned is the security of not having cash to be stolen or lost. If I drop a wallet full of cash the bank isn't protecting me but if my credit card is covered in that situation.
@@bradcanning875 for sure. I’ve been cashless since my first debit card for the very reason that I lose cash 😅
Cash is king. We need more 500.oo and 1000.oo bills
Cashless is not sustainable on many levels, using cash is cheaper overall too. Im very frugal personally.
Going cashless is one of the last chapters in the course "How to enslave the world 101"
Some chinese businesses in Canada will hate this. They have stores and fast food places that only accept cash so they can avoid paying some taxes.
Rather have more businesses that avoid paying taxes than having to live in a countryy where your bank accounts can be frozen by authorities and having no alternative which they dont control

Short answer: NO
One of the reasons of grocery shopping is interaction with people. Least that is what I enjoy about shopping. It could be a very good experience or very bad experience. Are people wanting a life of solitary confinement lifestyle?
It would be a huge mistake for Canadians to except a cashless society, it would never be in our best interest, only theirs(The Government, Banks Etc.)…
And by all means can the world stop using Canada as a test plate for for what it's going to be like when somebody's found freedom and financial security,
Every time we use our cards, we could get frauded because of skimmers and other gadgets that grab our data. Using cash means you have less to worry about. I put a certain amount in an envelopepe once a week for groceries, Dollarama, and extras and I can figure out why I'm out before it's time, which helps to budget. YOu can see how much cash you have left in your envelope and you just spend less because you know it needs to last longer.
Dreamer! I am switching from cc to cash. My chirp is no longer accepting cc.
Well Id rather live in Mexico. Thanks.
Use your credit card for a $3.00 purchase and connect it to a 25% intrest charge.
Unmanned stores….Slowly, but steadily eliminating Canadian jobs.
Now how are people that provide a service, that only take cash going to like this new approach.

How about hairdresser, servers and their tips, or you pay in cash and don't have to pay tax... Then there is if you pay in cash pay the taxes, does anyone believe those places pay their taxes on all the cash then bring in? I am going to say that's a big no.
