Thank you for talking about edges because you’re RIGHT it is very much overlooked by others and it’s very CRUCIAL! You give the best explanations, Katie 💛
from watching your videos i thankfully got it drilled into me that edges are very fundamental and very important,,, so much so that i forget about falling the very first fundamental😅😅
Hi Katie, you say that falling is important. I am 100% with you. I am in a club since nearly 2 month. When I asked our trainer to train falling, he says it is not nesssesarry. He says wf do not need this. But i tell him i learnded for myself. It gives me confidence. After nearly 2 month on rollerskate i did not fall. But when i fall i know how to fall. Your videos are so good. I learned a lot basic- scills from your videos. ❤❤🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
You are so good! This is such a fabulous video and you are an amazing teacher! I like the other comment about “fun and mental” as that is exactly what I feel like taking up roller skating at 51😁. Thank you so much for your videos; literally saving my hiney!
Thank YOU this is video is very informative, and Thank YOU for including the fact that there are safer ways to fall. I learned by accident (PUN intended) but the tuck and roll is always the safest to avoid broken. I have been enjoying all of your videos. Some of the things I can do better, some will take me a little bit longer, but like anything in this life... it is all "Work in Progress ! And we have to continue to reach for the next level. Thanks for helping me to understand the "Fundamentals" ! ! ! !
After 100 rewatch, I have noticed that toe stopping gently outdoor ,I should be able to draw a line with my toe stopper like yours 👍👍👍👍what a game changer 👌👌👌
Yes! That’s me leaving half the rubber behind! 😂. Apply pressure slowly and as you slow, press harder. Think of the brake pedal on a car, same principle.
I’ve created a playlist that goes with this video but by the powers of UA-cam I don’t think I can organize them in a particular order. If you follow the grades videos that gives a good structure for which skills build on the next. I’ve also got a drills video which works similarly.
Thank you for your videos. You're incredible❤. I'm learning again after more than 40 years without trying. I only knew how to skate forward and then stop doing a turn. Now I'm learning all of the rest 😅. You said in some of your videos that a big skate is a bad idea but how big? 1cm or less bigger would be OK? I'm between sizes and it's complicated 😮.
The between sizes is such a struggle. To give you an idea; my foot measures 248mm and I skate in a 255mm. You need a snug fit but you it needs to be comfortable, too small and you’ll find your toe hitting the front of the skate. Can you possibly try them on?
Have you got all your safety gear? Those padding shorts are a game changer too. I find it’s always my hip that gets a nice big bruise and those shorts work so well to take the impact.
All I keep hearing is “Fun and Mental!” 😂
I love it😁🤣😂
😂 😂
Whenever I take a break from skating, I come back to these 😊

Katie, do you think you can organize the videos in the playlist based on the order of importance of skills as highlighted in this video?
