Marathon!!!! Literally my favorite place on earth. The fishing is amazing there. Great video guys. Stumbled upon your channel when I was getting ready to hit the Smokey's and the Alum Cave to Leconte Trail and have been a subscriber ever since. Keep it up and happy travels!
Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words! That's so awesome that you were hiking one of our favorite trails. What an amazing time going back and forth between the mountains of Tennessee and then down to the Keys. They're both so nourishing to the soul. Thanks so much for watching and great to find another adventure seeker! ❤️
In the early 80s this park was to be an upscale ocean front development Building lots were sold to people for homesites. But the government stepped in and put a halt to it, and purchased the land for a park. By the way, i bought my building lot on Duck key from a guy who used the money for the purchase of a lot here in the mid 80s.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that Ernie! We're so happy we got to enjoy it as a park instead of it only being there as upscale real estate. It's such a cool place to enjoy. That's awesome that you live near there! 🌊
Thanks so much for the love James! We've loved tent camping since it was so cheap and gets us more immersed in nature. It was pretty hot down in the Keys for tent camping but always lots of fun. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
As i have gotten older....One of my favorite things to do is bike from depot park to Hawthorne Fl and eat at Diane's (The best BBQ in the area...bar, b que ,non)If you do it @ day break you will see foxes, deer, hawks etc....At is aka Hawtorne trail
Very nice Steve! We've seen tiny deer in the Keys but haven't seen any foxes yet. This has been such a cool park to experience. We'll definitely be back! Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉
Great video - thank you! My husband, our dog, and myself are headed to the Keys for the first time. We'll be staying in a condo on Duck Key near Marathon. It was nice to see a video focused on the natural beauty of the area rather than focusing on just a bunch of bars and tourist attractions. We're planning on going to Curry Hammock for kayaking as well as Bahia Honda quite a bit while we're there ... and we will definitely be going to Irie Island Eats- it reminds me of a little place we used to go to on St. John, USVI (which can't go to lately since don't want to board our dog and need to drive from NJ to wherever we vacation these days). :)
We're so happy you loved it! When we go to a destination, we love finding natural places to enjoy outdoors instead of the typical tourist traps. You're going to love Island Eats! It makes our mouths water just thinking about it. Enjoy Curry Hammock and thank for watching! ❤️
Hey guys. I always bring my batteries out in my so call dry bags but put them I. Double ziplock bags first. Keep a eye out on that battery charger. Mine got wet too and stopped working months later. Full of white crap. Great video.
Thanks for the tip! Yeah, it was frustrating for the "dry bag" to have moisture inside, but great idea to put it in zip lock bags first! We recently rigged up something also, when we took the Sony camera out with us on a paddle adventure. Seemed to work OK, thank goodness! 😄
Great to see another video! Everything in this video looked so beautiful and exciting! On the map it looks like Marathon is half way between Key Largo and Key West? Still working on my goal of moving to Key West!!!! Hot sauce in pasta? I will have to try it, seems quite unusual! I hope you guys had a wonderful holidays and have the best and most adventurous year ever in 2022!
The whole trip was so exciting! Even the challenging parts were still an adventure. Yes Marathon is about halfway to Key West and is an amazing place to get some food on the way down. So great to hear from you Freeman and hope you have an amazing year as well! 🎉🎉🎉
That's awesome Victory! We'll be keeping this park on our list for a while as a place to come back if another spot opens up again. What a dream! Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉
The sandbar is awesome! I only like swimming in clear water. Great area to visit! We are looking for cheap places to stay in the keys. This looks like a good options.
Sandbars are the best! When you guys head down to the keys definitely look up Curry Hammock State Park. We got super lucky when someone cancelled and we grabbed it up quick. It really is an immaculate park that's so beautiful! We could picture being in one of those beautiful RVs or Airstreams and spending time there. Definitely going back. Always great to hear from you Florida and Beyond! 😊
Yeah campsites are definitely much harder to get. We actually got pretty lucky when one weekend the weather was looking like it was turning for the worst. Sarah was looking all over Florida for campsites and then this one popped up! We heard you have to reserve this place a year in advance! 😮
Was it a new tent?? You sprayed it. ?? And i always tarp over in case of this......plus floor tarp inside .....and for condensation a super thin piece of fabric inside corner to corner x4 to catch drips from ceiling ...and always run a fan ....keeps it movin For this place ....rent a uhaul 5x8 trailer throw the matress in that and bug net to cover the door plug in fan or small 99.00 ac .....we call it a " hard shell tent"lolol
Thanks so much for all the ideas! No this was an old tent. We had sprayed the tent seams but they had actually delaminated and totally came off! Haha! Oh well. The tarp idea would have saved us but we'll have to pack one of those next time. It was an adventure. Thanks for watching!
Looks beautiful there..... I am going to include that State Park in my list. I will make sure to bring my fan. Thanks! Ps. Will you consider to make pancackes with Oatmeal flour instead. They are delicious!
Hello! It's so beautiful there. Definitely bring the fan. 😂 Actually, with Sarah being gluten-free, she makes pancakes using half ground oats and half the King Arthur gluten-free flour mix, which is pretty much mostly rice flour. Turns out amazing!
I'm sure bug spray would've helped around sunset but we try to just cover up instead. Our tent is actually pretty old so the seams have completely come apart! Not waterproofing left at all so we were doomed before we even began! 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Oh wow that would be amazing taking a bike tour to the Keys! It really is hard to find a site here. We got lucky with the weather turning bad, someone cancelled and we snatched it up on the state park website! 😮
@@PSAdventures Awesome, you got lucky. I've heard that there is a website where you can sign up for alerts if any site opens up. You happened to check availability at the right moment! If you're interested check out my Key West video from last month. It took me 3 days to ride but it was fun! 👍🙂
I have a question for u guys.I notice most of your videos are about florida ,do u have a primary home down there or do u just vacation throughout the state
We'd love to be full time traveling all over the country but we have a home base in Florida. It's a nice place to be based in though! It'd take forever to visit all the state parks in our state!
Hey thanks y’all! I’m a traveling musician from Michigan and looking for some good camping spots. Any other good recommendations for a low speed, simple artist?
Thanks so much for the question Gaige! What a great area to be a musician! You wouldn't be too far away from Key West which could be a great place to find gigs. There were quite a few state parks and campground in that area but this one (Curry Hammock) we had to get lucky by just showing up and finding a space. It was booked out a solid year! We'd call around the area and ask since the availability changes so often.
I bet! It' serious business down there in the Keys. 😆 Those bugs don't mess around. Our issue though was that our tent was way too old and wasn't waterproof anymore. We'd love to go back in our campervan! That would be amazing!
We considered having kids many years ago but eventually we decided that we'd be happy with our little fur babies. We do love kids though and always said that if it did happen then we'd be happy with whatever the universe decided for us. We always smile when we see little families enjoying the day and think it's adorable. ❤️❤️❤️
Not this time! Marathon would probably be a great place to bike too but we were sticking to the water and camping. If you're going to Key West though it's a must!
Yes I did! How's that for efficiency? A shower and laundry at the same time. Haha! Since you're all wet after taking a shower it keeps you much cooler when it's evaporating off. It was so hot so it felt great!
You guys seem to be just happy and fun folks! Nice video! 😁👍
Thank you! 😅🥰
Just sat down with my coffee and there you guys are...yaaaa.
Woohoo!! Adventure Friday! Nothing like a nice cup of coffee and a little travel for the weekend. ☕ Enjoy!
Love your stuff...LotZ!
Awesome Steve! Thanks for watching. 😊

Hard shell roof top tent and a270° awning... that's what I'm getting next year... and a mosquito smoke machine.. great videos!
Very nice! Those would be awesome for camping down in The Keys. Sounds like you have some good goals! 😁
DMC - really enjoy your videos! Thank you 🙂
😊
I'm so glad I found your channel.
It inspires me to do more tent camping in areas around my house.
Plus you two are so darn cute. Blessings

Thanks so much George! We'd go back to Curry Hammock any time!
i just love your videos!!!

gotta love camping. that happened to me@ grand canyon. the rain ruined my brand new phone. Best time ever! :)
Love camping! Usually the most uncomfortable trips we've taken we look back and remember it the most! It's always a good time. Thanks for watching!
Great to see another video! Everything in this video looked so beautiful and exciting!

Following you since few month now. I really like your videos!!! Keep on going :) Greetings from Germany (i have to visit Florida again..)
That's so awesome Peter! Thanks so much for watching, and all the way from Germany! Maybe one day we'll get over there and explore your country! 😊

Definitely look into it!
I love the keys but I quit going in the summer back in college in the 80's. It is great in the winter, but campsites are even harder to get.

I would be so afraid to walk in that water.. lol
I know right? Sometimes it's a little creepy but if it's crystal clear we're pretty happy with it. You never know what might be under us! 😮
Looks beautiful there..... I am going to include that State Park in my list. I will make sure to bring my fan. Thanks!

Lol... not funny but funny.... shes gluten free I am allergic to wheat.
I have Celiac and it's so cool to see how you cook gluten free while camping.
Thermacell and bug spray a must in the keys. Your tent fly must have been touching the tent = drips
I'm sure bug spray would've helped around sunset but we try to just cover up instead. Our tent is actually pretty old so the seams have completely come apart! Not waterproofing left at all so we were doomed before we even began! 🤣 Thanks for watching!
I wanted to camp there on my latest bike tour to Key West but it's practically impossible to find available site. How early you had to reserve it?

Mishaps not included
Ha! We always try putting in all of our mishaps when we have them. They end up being the funniest part! 😂😂😂
This is the 2nd video in a row that I've seen of folks that took a tent and slept in the car. The other was because of tiny bugs.
I bet! It' serious business down there in the Keys. 😆 Those bugs don't mess around. Our issue though was that our tent was way too old and wasn't waterproof anymore. We'd love to go back in our campervan! That would be amazing!
Another question do you guys have kids or want to in the future?

We do love kids though and always said that if it did happen then we'd be happy with whatever the universe decided for us. No biking ?
Not this time! Marathon would probably be a great place to bike too but we were sticking to the water and camping. If you're going to Key West though it's a must!
Did you just take a shower with clothes!!!! Lol 😆 🤣
Yes I did! How's that for efficiency? A shower and laundry at the same time. Haha! Since you're all wet after taking a shower it keeps you much cooler when it's evaporating off. It was so hot so it felt great!
