Many beaders do not glue the hide to the beadwork....1 reason many don't do this is for repairs in the future. most beadwork maker durable work but we still are hesitant to glue the hide onto the work...i think most we would use might be school glue or glue recipes we've been taught from elders that vary from family to family.
what will make your work firm, is a sandwich of pellon, a piece of cardboard like you used, and then the hide to back it. this is how i do my own work...it works pretty good for times when I work with Dentallium. I like how you explain everything!! you explained it very well!! you are a good teacher! and I like your name!!😁😁😉
Verlinda Bluestone thank you for your comment. My mom never glued her bead work down either. Depending on the work is if I glue it down. Usually for all my earrings and bolo ties I glue them down. In the end there are many ways to make beadwork. This is just the way that I do it. I really appreciate your comments! Thank you for taking the time to watch it and give back great feedback.
What is the leather back piece called? Or where do you get it from? I want to start learning how to bead but I don’t know where I should start or where to get material from. Thank you!
Vexontro13 the very best way to get started is with the book “Beading with Cabochons” by Jamie Cloud Eakin. It is an investment but it has everything you need to know to get going. The illustrations are so clear. Your library may have it. Also, search on utube for “ bead embroidery jewelry. There are several tutorials to get you going.
You can use a leather needle it has 3 points to it. Here is the link to some from Etsy, www.etsy.com/listing/792992224/john-james-leather-glovers-beading?gpla=1&gao=1&&Cj0KCQjwufn8BRCwARIsAKzP697fszOxzr7_ltcFqR8Xo-uVKnidb3eTdXLx-A0qtEtxsjOg0HX_mnAaAj_TEALw_wcB_k_&gclid=Cj0KCQjwufn8BRCwARIsAKzP697fszOxzr7_ltcFqR8Xo-uVKnidb3eTdXLx-A0qtEtxsjOg0HX_mnAaAj_TEALw_wcB Also you can use pliers to get through. I can work on another video to show you how to do that. 🙂
@@tashina-art Thank you! I just ordered some. It said that this size would work on 11/0 seed beads, so keeping my fingers crossed! Getting the needle through the leather was my main problem. I have some small hemostats that I used for pulling through - if I could even pierce the leather to get that far. Again, thank you very much!
Mtn_ Skye80 thank you for your comment. I will be adding a video by the end of the week on how I do flat stitch. So please subscribe to get updates on my tutorials. I always welcome questions and requests. 🙂
Gadget I use 2 types of glue: 1) gorilla glue the white colored one. You need to be careful when using it because it expands. 2) Hot glue like I used in this video to put the leather on.
Thanks so much for your work in helping others to learn how to bead I appreciate you

what do you use to glue down the gem in the middle? I was told to use tacky glue but another person said to use a different glue.
