Surprised they are not cheaper you can get a HDMI to USB device ua-cam.com/video/448v8p-3VMY/v-deo.html But in some cases the manufacture may not be paying the patent licence fee on HDMI teck!
I would go with a inexpensive RF modulator or a VHS VCR to the RCA output to a cheep RCA to HDMI converter. or a Atari 2600+ plays 7800 games! and you can power it with a usb c cable. not that obscure atari 7800 power plug :)
How it's possible for the TV's tuner to give hd picture? I mean for once I'd believe the modulator is converting hdmi to rf. But how the tv's built in rf tuner would be able to display hd when Its made to display sd?
Modern digital TVs have a ATSC digital turner. They became mandatory in 2009 but were available in the late 1990s as set top boxes. The ATSC 1.0 standard allows digital broadcasts in 480i. 480p 720p, and 1080i resolution.
This is actually a great idea, especially if you already have coax all over the house.

wow ! my father owned a betamax vcr he bought in France in the early 80s . In the 90s we were able to watch encrypted tv thanks to its built in tuner
