Night in the Paradise
The idea for the project was born in 2019, from a photograph I took in the garden near my studio at night. In the image, I was struck by the space, the cosmic depth of the autumn trees, which before my eyes were turning into pixel galaxies of the universe. I was attracted by this abstraction of paradox. The meaning, as if on the surface. In how the crowns of the trees are abstractly geometric and obey their own special, not fractal geometry, but some kind of anti-geometry. The surface balances between depth and plane, between figurativeness and abstract non-objectivity. An oxymoron. The anti-geometric image of the starry space resembles the chaotic image of pixel glare on the sea surface, where everything is reflected in everything, crushing the unity, turning it into multiplicity. Only miracles make sense. This is how the image of the heavenly cosmic garden of the universe appeared, where all the stars are born and die. The name "Night in Paradise" came from outside, spontaneously, after the war began, far from home. Having lived in Europe for 2 years, my feelings and my attitude towards my country acquired a certain nostalgic-mystical character. The image of a heavenly night was ideal for the project, it accurately conveyed my personal, and I think our public feeling about what is happening in the world, and in Ukraine in particular.
