I love how these pencil packs give kids what they need for school, but are also fun with the cute erasers, novelty pens and pencils, and include a small toy!
Trish, following your and Denise’s footsteps, I am, too, doing pencil packs. Mine are 2x9 resealable clear bags.....yours are designer inspired. These look great. The kids will love them. It’s been such a long time since my “back to school” supplies shopping days, that I need to remember what to shop for this year and to stock up. I know we are all scattered throughout the country, too bad we can’t gather together for a shopping “scanning” Walmart trip.....it would be a hoot!
Sonia, that’s great! If I had not found $.10 pencil cases at Walmart I would have used resealable clear bags, too, and will likely use them for more filler pencil packs once I see what’s leftover after packing all my shoeboxes. 👍to the shopping trip!! 😊
I love this! I’m going to have my youth group put together pencil packs every Wednesday night as a warm up activity until everyone arrives. Mentally preparing the “buffet” of items so the kids can walk and gather the items efficiently. Great Video! I love your channel! You do good work!
Love this, Trish! I also added combs to my pencil packs that I donated to the OCC processing center. And I also plan to add whistles, fun toy to add and the coloring pads! I love that you used real pencil cases! Great school supplies that you put in - like something you would put in your own shoeboxes. I love how the school supplies slowly deplete while you pack. ✏️✏️✏️
Thanks Sharon. I used real pencil cases because I got such a good deal. At $.10 each I felt God compelling me to use them for pencil packs 😇. I went ahead and added another 2 pencils to each pack, one yellow #2 and one decorated. I couldn’t figure out why I had so many left after packing. Either I didn’t count very well or I had originally planned to put in 8 pencils instead of 6, 😂
@@byrdfeed9071 .10 cents, yes, perfect! Lol, I only put 4 pencils in my pencil packs last year, so I would say either 6-8 is plenty! Love that you included colored pencils too!
very cool, I'm glad so many are willing to go beyond making boxes and helping with centers...to my knowledge Canada only has one processing center and its out west. I wish Canada had dirt cheap deals like you guys have
We have a local dirt cheap that is basically a Target returns outlet. Some items are priced the same as they were in Target. Not always a good deal. I am very careful when shopping there. *Edited: So sorry MultiTasker! I thought you were referring to the Dirt Cheap store. I enjoy your videos as well! Keep on keeping on!
Ginny, I think Multi Tasker Mama was referring to dirt cheap deals, in general, not the store named Dirt Cheap, but that’s very interesting to know about it being basically a Target returns outlet. I don’t have a Dirt Cheap anywhere near me in St Louis, but I often wish I did when I see people hauling $.10 items. Do you ever see deals like that?
@@byrdfeed9071 ah! 🤦🏼♀️ After reading that again, I see what she meant. I’ve read others who say they wish for a Dirt Cheap store but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. When they first opened, it was tons of good deals. Not so much now. The sticker price will say, for example, $14.99. Then there are posted %’s off on a piece of paper. So, if the item you have is $14.99 and it’s listed to be 70% off, then it’s about $4.50. When in reality, it was $4.00 in the Target. It’s a tactic to make you feel like you’re getting 70% off when you’re actually not getting a deal at all. You can actually pay the full price in the Target store as you can the Dirt Cheap price. I hope that made sense. But yes, I have found composition books for .15 there and recently was able to get pencil bags for a quarter. Just a situation where you must pay particular attention to the numbers. If I knew how to share a picture of them, I would.
Oh Trish this is SO WONDERFUL 💖💖 AND inspirational!! It brings tears to my eyes to think of the 20 children who will have pencil pouches that may not have had them! God Bless you as you pack, Please keep sharing these kinds of videos 💖 💖
Thanks so much Jessica. I know 20 pencil packs is helpful, but, unfortunately just a drop in the bucket. I hope to do more before year’s end. Hope to pick up more bargains during/after BTS. 🥰
This year I am making pencil pouch kits to send to the processing center. So far I've got about 50 done and hoping to do more for the little ones. I make mine out of fabric with a pretty ribbon tie. Also making hygiene kits as well. It is so much fun.
Ha ha ha. I can still hear the irratation about the combs. I'm guessing they are like those cheap ones that were handed out on picture day in grade school. I remember how they bent instead of going through my hair. And any part they did comb gave me static fly away.
Ha ha, yes, but they are not quite that bad. However they are very small, short and narrow. They were advertised to be 5 inches, which, in my opinion is already pushing it for size, but are actually only 4.5 inches, so, I decided to return them. Amazon credited me, but told me to keep them or donate them. Funny, how did they know? 😂 Denise Rogers suggested them for the pencil packs. Perfect!! The rest, I am using until I find better and will send the balance as filler. 😆😆😆
Yes. Me too! But, it really shows how much Trish thinks about what she packs - if it be of use to the receiving child.🎁 I shopped for combs the other week and had to stop and think, would Trish approve! 🙃
Hi Trish, As they say great minds think alike! I am sorting my pencil packs this weekend and decided on 18. This is based on the stash of Number 2 (HB) pencils that I hauled yesterday. I will also be making Toddler packs and adding a few chunky pencils that I also picked up on clearance. For older kids, I will be adding sticky notelets (Post-Its) and paper clips.🎁
Very cool! School supplies are so important and needed! Thank you Trish! Tonight I have some friends coming over to make pencil pouches and roll up backpacks and put sets of lovies and rattles together in organza bags. I’m going to have a once a month event (shoebox packing activity) to help me get everything done on time. I just loved seeing your passion to get these school supplies ready as fillers so more children will have the privilege of going to school!
@@byrdfeed9071 you can look at it this way that at least you were involved and was able to bless many children🙂 from the few years I've been doing shoeboxes I didn't know about fillers either until this past year, and later on found out about pencil packs too. Found out from the wonderful channels here on you tube and I'm glad the news are spreading and more people get to hear about it thanks to all the hard work you guys put in to keep the knowledge going, it pays off!
Great job here! Making pencil packs for filler was my go-to activity when the Covid lockdowns initially started last year. I would throw on an audiobook and start packing! It's fun to get creative with them, too. Definitely plan to pack again this year. Thanks for sharing!
I wonder the same thing. I suppose some people want to help but can’t really afford to include much and they figure something is better than nothing. Sometimes they include items that are on the “do not include” list, like liquid bubbles or used clothing, and those items must be removed and replaced with something else at the processing center. But, honestly, I think many of the half full boxes come from church packing parties, where many children and adults grab boxes and start filling without much thought or enough instruction. Some boxes may get double of some things while others get nothing, bc they ran out. Just my guess 🤷🏻♀️
@@byrdfeed9071 Good guess. It still sounds crazy because they know it's a gift. Gifts should have some consideration. Lots of people think it's the thought that counts without giving a thought. I really love watching these channels since some all of you are so thoughtful.
