My name is "Mary Lou" and I loved that song when I was a senior in 1961. Whoopee! Glad I found this recording. Also, my dad was a good friend of Harriet's in college and they played in the band together.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!....
@Olive Lane oh i am really sorry pretty for the pain.i am doing pretty good ,,where are you from...
Ricky Nelson looks so handsome here. Even more handsome than Elvis. And he is so talented too. Truly the all American boy.
The man had so much talent. I’m on a Ricky Nelson kick this week. RIP you’re not forgotten.
Mrs Blue Sky that happened to me about a Month ago 🥰 I was a child when he died, but remember that night...the reports vividly. I knew a bit of his music from seeing him appear on various TV shows at the time (Solid Gold, etc) & had to have heard it (not realizing) on the oldies stations my Mom & Grandma listened to. I absolutely loved "Garden Party." I still do today, but "Hello Mary Lou" has become one I play at least a few times a week. Timeless voice & music. ❤ Love your name..."Mr. Blue Sky" is one of my favorite ELO songs, a great deal of meaning & from the year I was born 😄
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!....
I know these "kicks" in several styles of music all the best....this is a as well great and unforgotten song as a very talented singer with a nice voice. I like this kind of music!💋
@@philipswilson Oh, thanks! I`m feeling fine while listening this song, although the weather is not a spring-weather. I love sun, summertime and even heat! How do you do? Are you happy, too? I hope so!
I wish people could sing like this in modern times 😢 oh what a different era. How lucky are we and how talented they are.
Hello 👋 Maryam. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado,, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
@@zackhudson5172 I'm from Surrey near London but country girl at heart! I wouldn't mind a USA ranch trip!
@@maryamvalley9525 that's nice. I have been to England so many years ago and it's very nice there, I will love to visit again. I am presently working at Alaska arctic ocean. Have you been to Alaska before?
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!....
Ricky Nelson was phenomenal. And the song written by another genius: Gene Pitney.
I'm 71 and feel like 17 takes me back to my teen year and dancing at the sock hop.
The Best MUSIC !!! Wish I could come to you for advice things were soo much better than!!!
That 50s living room Ozzie and Harriet are sitting in... I feel like I could just walk into it, be back in those times. I wish!
A telented performer.
Left us way too soon.
RIP Ricky Nelson.
Started playing the guitar at 57.. slow going, now in my 70's and finding Ricky's song to be a real source of enjoyment. I mean, who doesn't remember " The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet " watching them grow up ?
Beautiful song, one of the best singers from the 50s and 60s! ❤️
God bless you Ricky you were taken from us to soon.
1961-I was 9 years old. Great music, burgers, shakes- Now it's lousy music and kale salads, although I admit eating healthily is a lot easier now and is the way to go. I was blessed to have my childhood in the 50's and 60's. It's getting mighty strange out there now.
I was 15 we had a ball in the 50s and 60s great days we had freedom ,fun and did as we also repected our parents and our elders We also risked a clout if we wrre lippy, no problem with that kept us in check, they were a wonderful time to grow up
So true those were the best days at least we have the memories to treasure forever.
My Mom, Mary-Lou Mitchell passed a week ago today. This is for you Mom
Ricky had such a great voice and wonderful stage presence. He lives forever in his old television programs and records.
I saw Ricky Nelson in a small club in Greenwich Village in 1972 or 1973., A warm person who truly enjoyed the small club environment. A great memory for this old hippy.
I grew up with Ozzie, Harriet, David, and Ricky every week on the black and white Capehart TV. Loved Ricky's music...still do.
I grew up listening to Ricky Nelson and also loved the wholesome family show 'The Nelsons'. Black and White TV viewing back the ,the good old days.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!.
First time I ever really listened to radio stations was when I was 12 and heard this song on radio. I've never forgotten it I was on holiday and staying in Whites hotel in Tullamore Ireland.
Helle!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day.. Stay Safe!
The great James Burton on guitar -- one of the very best. Played and lived with Ricky Nelson and then part of Elvis Presley's touring band until the day Elvis died. Still rockin' in his '70's...
But they didn't play his fantastic rockabilly solo on this; very disappointing.
And studio legend Joe Osborn on bass. Not only was Ricky a fine singer, he had an absolutely top-shelf band.
This was a sensational hit of the early 60s, and has still an emotional impact. Hello Ricky Nelson!
he had it all. looks, shyness, refinement. like him just as much as Elvis. Oh, and what a wonderful voice Ricky had.😍
Das war die Music meiner Jugend!!!1 SUUUUUPER, MEGA GUT!!!!
I was 6 years old when this song came out! Yes, I've been around a while. Throughout my life time, because my first name is MARY LOU... people I have been introduced to, would break into the Chorus of this song. My response was always "THAT IS MY FAVORITE SONG". How could it not be?
Still Love it.
Oh nice name where did it come from.. andcwhy your parents called you marilou. Its rare
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!....
When I was a kid they ended every TV show with a performance by Rick! We always enjoyed it!
Yeah', a lot did, and it was probably my favorite part of the program; although I liked the whole show, too!
I got severely hooked on this tune and Travelin' Man; "Fools Rush In", too!
I really regret that I did not know this singer for a long time and that I listen to all his albums I expect that I come from the future ... One of my wishes is to go back to the past and attend his concert
Ricky Nelson!! His 50's and early 60's stuff is awesome!! I never heard of him til Garden Party. He doesn't get the respect that Elvis did but he deserves it!
Brings back so many memories.
vous avez parfaitement raison celà me me rappelle de très excellents souvenird inoubliables c était une époque formidable
Over Ricky's left shoulder stands the greatest guitarist that ever was, James Burton.
My Dad passed away last week and always sang this to me as a kid but said my name "Gemma Lou". Odd thing is I heard this playing in a shop last week...and never heard the original, just recognised it from what he sang to me RIP old man ❤️❤️
My Dad too used to sing the 50's/ 60's great to me with his guitar.
Happy Daze eh!
Hey Uncle Tim....this is one of my favorite songs. Grew up on folk tunes. Love it Keep singing Tim
I love this song
I wish to GOD we still had performers like this today.
There are a lot of really good artists out there, it's good material that's needed.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!....
Still beautiful! Those songs were simple, but they really hit the point, and are still my favorites, so many years later.
God Ricky was so handsome, so talented. I miss him so much. He was a girls dream come true......
KB🎸🌺
I loved all of Ricky Nelson's songs, and for some reason I woke up this morning singing "Marylou" and "Garden Party.". His great voice and music just about sends me into outer space. You can laugh... but I'm just a Ricky fan.
I am 73 and I watched that show the night it aired, I loved the song then and I love it now. I do miss this music, I miss it a lot.
What a beautiful creation of God. I like the song and the man who sings this song. Very handsome .
Such time, my father new a Lady Marilou and he had two kids with her. Good time.
When music was music and worth listening to.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!....
Rick is Super!!!
Such innocence in his face ! so difficult to find now adays!
LOVE IT! And he was HOT! And the background musicians are great, too. Whoever wrote this song is genius!
Ricky was the 1st singing artest to hit #1 on 100 chart in 1958
I love this song. I'm 76 years old. I remember me, when i was young. A great song, ilove it.
Rick's original version of this song was a favorite on the charts for several decades. But once the Statler Brothers got a hold of it and carried it to new heights, I can never hear this song without listening for Harold to come in with his part.
RIP Rick Nelson and Harold Reid - both icons in the world of music - neither will ever be replaced.
Such a pure and beautiful voice.
The best life of 50/60's years 🇨🇵🇺🇲
That was such a good song by Ricky. Definitely had a crush on him. 😍😍😍
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful songs. How are you?
One word FABULOUS.
oh boy,im 17 but while listening this piece i feel 50/60s american soul overwhelming me so much i wanna cry
Born in 1974, but the time from 1954 / 1955 - 1969 is the golden age of music. With people of your age appreciating this kind of music brings hope that it will last for generations to come! Let's keep the music alive.
I feel the same. I kinda feel like a 1950s american teenager that traveled in the future
I'm 16 almost 17 but I hate new music so I turned to older music from the 50s all the way to the 80s and I am never going back
Ayant 76 ans, Ricky Nelson a fait partie de ma jeunesse en interprétant du rock and roll 😃🎼🎸
Repose en paix Ricky, un ange veille sur toi dans le ciel à tout jamais 😢🙏🕊️
One of the greatest all time records from a wonderful singer. I loved this record.
Born in the 90s, so attracted to this man. I'm crying 😢😢😢
メチャクチャ、声が良過ぎ!コーラスも最高!🥰
Such a fun song! If I had a dollar for every time someone sang the fist line of this song to me! Mary Lou M
Hello 👋 Mary. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado,, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!.
Me too! Maybe you experienced the same thing I did. The guy would start out thinking he was so clever by singing hello Mary Lou goodbye heart and then suddenly they would stop because the next line was Sweet Mary Lou I'm so in love with you and they didn't want to have to say or sing that, lol. It happened every time and was so funny and so predictable.
One of the best Entertainers We ever had/R.I.P Ricky.
AHHH Im so in love with this man!!!! I just wanna cry hes so beautiful!!!
Ricky ur apart of the greatest singers on my list Missed so much
*"You got me singing again "Ricky Nelson"!!- Always will Love & Miss you!! May you RIP!!"*
My cousin Ron's favorite song. He was killed in Vietnam in 1967, at the age of 20. A gentle giant, he was nicknamed "Russian Bear." Ron was the son of Christian, COMMUNISM--hating Russian immigrants. RIP...
***** Obviously your cousin didn't belong to the upper crust... Bush and Quayle spent the time in the National guard and didn't even showed up.
***** Ron was the son of anti-communist Bulgarian and Russian immigrants. His relatives have fought against the Turks and the communists, and he was an idealistic youngster, who sincerely believed that he had to contribute to the struggle for justice and freedom. So did I. Ron was an infantryman; so was I. I survived barely (re. my own infantryman's ordeal in Vietnam). YES, War IS Hell. May the souls of all 60,000 Americans and INNOCENT Vietnamese and others, who perished during the Vietnam War, rest in peace.
***** I used to watch the news reports on the Vietnam war when I was still at school, but never really understood it,but many years later I realized it was a futile war and so many young recruits died for nothing. so wrong in every way.
A well-know DJ here in Vancouver once told me that 'RICKY NELSON CAN"T SING'. I went nuts! Ricky Nelson had such a beautiful, distinctive, resonate voice AND, he was also a really good Songwriter. Sure, all of us gals had huge crushes on him when we were watching Ozzie & Harriet...but Ricky Nelson was much more than just a good looking actor. R.I.P. We will NEVER forget you. XO
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful songs. How are you?
Great performance and a humble man. Talked to him after concert once at Knott's Berry Farm. He took his music very seriously, I believe.
I was born in the 50's, loved Ricky Nelson most of my life!
Hello Mary Lou was a great Movie
This happened to me so I can relate. Ricky Nelson is so enjoyable, he sung my feelings so well. I could not have said or sung it better. I wonder if this happened to him too..I'll always love him and enjoy his music.
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful songs. How are you?
To me this is a song and memory I never ever forget growing up in the 50s and 60s i am 66 now and still enjoy listening it a very talented but in later years a troubled singer thanks for this great memory Rick
Just love Ricky Nelson and the good old USA !!!
What a marvelous time to live in and grow up in! Things were simple before the advent of the cell phone, personal computers, etc.
Probably... One of my favorite artists ever .. literally so glad my dad would put this on for me all the time! 🥰 Bless his soul and always know he is with me
I alway's loved Ricky. He was so handsome and talented. It was very sad when he died in that plane accident at such a young age
A classic I love! Ricky Nelson so handsome... forever 🌷
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!.
I love Ricky Nelson. Saw him many times over the years in Az. I even kissed those lips of his. He was a very talented man who died way to young.
Yes, I kissed him twice at two different times. I did not know him personally, however because we were such good fans who always went to his shows he began to recognize us. He would even stop playing so I could take a picture. He played at a very nice dinner theatre in Phoenix about once a month a week at a time. He was very gracious and a very nice man! The last time he kissed me my husband said....damn Ricky why did you have to do that....now she won't let me kiss her for 6 months. He fell over laughing.
You seem to very unhappy person ninuxy. Why bother reading the comments if you are not interested. No I am not 96 but I am 63 and very proud of it. Have a great day!
If it was not for our generation working our butts off to get what we wanted in this life.....your generation would not have your cell phone, or anything else that you think you are entitled to.....
Rick tried to sing this at the "Garden Party", everyone knew his name but they didn't recognize him, prompting him to sing later "you can't please everyone so you got to please yourself".
God bless you Mr Nelson
This was being played a lot when hubby and I were on our honeymoon road trip in February 1961. Ricky's guitarist here, James Burton, learned the guitar keys on my husband's guitar. My husband knew the chords but couldn't play because he had no rhythm. James Burton went on to play in bands of Ricky, Elvis, John Denver and most of the "biggies" here and there.
Played on Gram Parsons two solo albums too. Also Emmylou Harris' Hot Band.
Hello 👋 Linda. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado,, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face!.
My mom walked in on me staring at him longingly and all I could say was "Mom, can you buy me a time machine?"
So handsome and talented!!
I can see why girls liked him... I’m a guy. There was a girl, Mary Lou, in neighborhood. Friend of my sister. I was ga ga over Mary Lou. She had zero interest in me. Oh well. This was 1970s.
Ricky Nelson was a suggestion to one of the American Idol contestants tonight (4/9/14). I love old songs....really like this guy.
Beautiful harmony!
This is right on Ricky Nelson, love this great song, 👏👏🎶🎼🎸👏👏💙💙🇨🇦💙💙2021
Hello 👋 Sandra. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado,, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Miss those days of such terrific music ! RIP Mr. Ricky Nelson.
This was when Music was simple and enjoyable.
I’m 25 and we use to watch his dvd box set of Ozzy and Harriet.
And I loved Ricky Nelson’s music ever since.
Such a beautiful and most iconic song of Ricky’s. I could listen to his music all day and night. Now this is music.
Ricky always does a great performance.
I wasn't even born then,I was born in 1968..But I do really like this song!!
Ricky Nelson was a very talented actor and musician, and Hello Mary Lou stands out as his most successful hit single.
I'm 67 and I'm proud to be named after Eric "Ricky" Nelson ! Traveling man is my favorite! Good memories!
Awww the years of beautiful music..... I wish they were back.
Love this song great song -- I am past 70 mind !
The most handsome American singer!
Sehr schön,denke dabei an meine Jugend
Now at the age of 76 , and having played oldies with The Bravados for many years, many times with some of the great oldies groups I come to terms. Ricky Nelson was the COOLEST guy EVER ! R I P Rickey !
I still miss Ricky Nelson!
I dunno man there’s just something about the unbelievable timeless charm of this version that always will make it the best
Fabulous singer and entertainer going and one of my favorites going on for 6 decades now! He joins Elvis as the best!
So I heard a barbershop sing this and it's been stuck in my head for four weeks 😂 It's so catchy.
Watched the Nelson family on TV when a kid. It was all good at that time!!!
Best years of my life ❤
I loved to watch The Ozzie and Harriet Show, Ricky always sang at the end! Man, loved Ricky Nelson!
This is a timeless classic. Just wish I had the energy to dance to it !
Hey kids ...
