Hello, I stumbled in from watching narrow boat videos.... thank you for posting, I have similar cancer specs to yours...My surgery was two weeks ago, PSA was 10.3 Gleason 5+4=9 I live in America, I had no symptoms, am 63 years of age, and found out I had prostate cancer after my doctor drew blood during my annual health exam. My cancer was aggressive and fast-growing, I had the same surgery method as you with one nerve and one lymph node removed as well. I spent one day and a half in the hospital and walked out the front door under my own power. I did not enjoy the 10 days of the catheter but did not need the oxy cotin pain meds, and instead took over the counter Alieve. After two weeks I'm back to a reasonable sense of normal for bowel and bladder control but found out I also had two hernias that will be fixed in 3 months. They hurt enough that I do not know what ED issues I have at this time. Thank you for your honesty and wonderful presentation skills! I tell everyone over 45 GET YOUR ANNUAL PSA BLOOD DRAW TEST DONE !!! =) MIKE
Hi Mike, well done! Glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery. As I write this I am 13 months on from my surgery. Recovery has platowed, im not where I would like to be but I accept what I have. Just waiting for the latest PSA results. Positive mental attitude, even if your smiling through the pain.
Good to see you are upbeat and in a good frame of mind matey, so many things to think about and consider, hope for the future it becomes simple …. here is to you pal, good health and all that comes with it !
Thanks again Stephen - just got to this video and saw that they didn't go full Rhetzius-sparing then. Nevertheless, seems like you had a great team and I'd still be interested in the surgeon's name if you're willing to share...
Thank you so much for sharing this, a lot of guys tend to shy away from this stuff. you’re a beautiful guy for talking about it and making it more aware. Speedy recovery and get on the lathe. Will you be at Makers Central? Love your boat
