Man, I was close to getting teary-eyed after 3:30 when he starts listing his competition. That was the generation of players I grew up with, and I loved them all equally, even though Ronaldo is still my all-time fav player.
If Ronaldo dominating the World Cup and winning player of the year awards after missing 2-3 years due to injuries isn't a miracle, nothing in football history except for Maradona was one.
Not to mention that this guy was one victory away (World Cup 98 Final) from winning his 3rd consecutive player of the year award at 21 years of age.
There will never by anyone like him.
That's a bit of a stretch considering that brazil is obviously one of, if not, the best national team in the entire planet. They have won the most world cups, and that is not because of individual brilliance. The best teams never win because of one player.

When R9 was in his prime, he was better than Messi or Cr7 have ever been. If injury hadn't ended his career early, he would've continued to outclass both of them. And unlike Cr7, R9 was _not_ a diver.

He never reached his peak due to his injuries ... he had to adapt his game when he incurred those heinous knee injuries and had to cope with the lost of his superhuman pace ...during the Barca and inter years , he was without a doubt the greatest player of all time and would have received the recognition for that if not for his injuries
back then 90 early 2000 - 2005 teams where more equal, good players where equally divided around europe club teams. teams didnt have many money to buy 30 good players you had the big clubs but also strong subtop teams like parma palermo napoli lazio, roma sampdoria monaco psg benfica porto newcastle, liverpool, ajax psv german subtop teams ,valencia deportivo sevilla etc. dangerous for the big clubs. like 2013 dortmund.but back then more strong teams

Ronaldo is right. The competition for this trophy was much tougher during his time. The all-round quality of football has dropped in recent years (Still at a high level, just not as high). During Ronaldo's time (and a little after that) there were so many other players who were worthy competitors: Zidane, Ronaldihno, Del Piero, Totti, Raul, Rivaldo, Henry(that's just thinking off the top). The quality of the teams was better as well.

You can't compare the training and all the shit from back then with now. It's really easier now to get top tier, as we see a lot of great players, but the talented ones, as the list the OP said, are just comparable to CR7 and Messi. Today's competition is not even close from what is was in the past.

The two greatest players I've seen in my lifetime are El Phenomeno Ronaldo and Messi. Both are breathtaking to watch
I grew up admiring him and the players he mentioned, but I can put my nostalgia aside and say that Ronaldo and Messi are not just the best of this generation but better than any of them as well. Their statistics and trophy haul are INSANE.
