It looks like an interesting option for first time boat buyers. We checked out the prices. We have three kids, 17, 6 and a 6 month old. We were looking at the base model with the 100hp engine and 16 foot length. Price was $21,000. We didn't like that you can't get the Bimini top with the base model. Only the flimsy $900 sun shade that you can't use over 5 mph. If we built it with the 18 foot, 100hp Cruiser model, you're at $27,000. They bundle in the $900 stereo system and the $950 Garmin gps setup. With the Sport model 18 footer, 230hp engine you're at $32,500. Apparently they all use the same base engine. The 170hp engine is the same as the 100hp one with a better tune. The 230hp version is the same engine with a supercharger. So you should be able to buy the 100hp version and have it tuned to 170hp if you wanted to add more power afterwards. For us the price jumped up too much with the Sport and Cruiser models and added features we didn't want. The Garmin and stereo added an extra $2,000. And we couldn't get a 16 foot base model with a Bimini.
The website is kind of strange. But it does favor Seadoo. To get down to the base price for each model, you need to remove options from those package deals. So once you figure out how to do that, you should be able to delete any unwanted options, and hopefully bring the price down to something reasonable. I'm looking at the Compact model, and have the same idea regarding modifications. Looks like a neat little boat!
There’s an optional trolling motor and one of the coolers is big enough to use as a live well. Your rod can be stored in the mid-deck area where the paddle can be stored.
They keep calling it a pontoon, but the truth is that it has a true planing hull with out rigger stabilizers, far from being a silly pontoon that rides on 3 round tubes and nose dives in small waves, the switch does not nose dive in rough waters, someone already made the journey from Miami to Bimini in one in 3 to 4 foot seas with no issues.
I'm like the new switch boat but I like to see more accessories for fishing for both the switch and the fishing pro seadoo like a down riggers mount or fishing rod holders
i didn't like these at first but the more i look into them they intrigue me with one hesitation, they don't come with things all boats should already come with! the anchor, fire extinguisher, speaker system, and possibly the swim ladder (i cant find if thats extra or not) should all be standard on all models of the boat...
So it does come with a anchor its in the front of the boat in storage and there is a swim ladder that stores away into the deck/hull. for fire extinguisher that isn't a huge deal. and speaker system it comes (18ft sport i think is where its is included) i would upgrade to the jl package.
These pontoons really intrigue me. The price for what you get is very reasonable. Try getting a normal Tritoon with a 200-250hp outboard and see what it costs. What I don’t like right off the bat is why did they go with the pwc handle bars instead of an actual steering wheel and shift/throttle lever? They have proven the steering wheel/throttle lever works well on their jet boats so why did they have to use the bars? I am guessing there is some kind of innovation built in that can only be utilized by a handlebar system but I haven’t seen what that was.
I watched a few other videos of this pontoon and I actually would prefer a handlebar (with cruise control) over a wheel. I have a Spark 3up and a Crestliner 22' pontoon with a Yamaha 50 and the 21' Sea Doo would make more sense on the lake I'm at. It would be a fun boat pulling the kids around on a tube. 230HP- sign me up!
In 4 years time you'll spend more money keeping these sea-donts running than you will on an entire 200hp pontoon. Supercharged Seadoo engines go around 100hrs before needing a rebuild, a 200hp yamaha will go 4-5000hrs before a rebuild.
I just rented a Switch Cruise 21 with the 230 HP Rotax in Oregon. Slow, hard to get on plane, and slow turning with only two adults and five 8th graders, well below the 9-adult limit. There’s a reason SeaDoo and UA-cam reviewers only show video with lightly-loaded Switch Cruises. They are sluggish even with a 60% load.
Do you mean slow, hard to get on plane, slow turning, compared to other boats or a pontoon? Seen people snap then left & right @ full speed, & getting high 30 mph or low 40’s depending on set up. Maybe the 18’ is the sweet spot. Looking @ other nicer pontoons, but qu Lily getting to $80K
@@JackieTreehoorn you can’t really compare a pump jet powered pontoon like this to a prop driven pontoon. The Switch Cruise 21 is a dog when loaded over 50% capacity.
@@bryonslatten3147 so comparing to other boats, not good. Comparing to other pontoons new for $40K, I’m assuming your saying it’s still more nimble & as quick as those. I was surprised how little you get for $40K for most pontoons, only reason Switch even hit my radar
I am going to buy a 18 switch. It will be keep on a boat lift in salt water. It will have a swim step. How do I get to flush port without having to jump in canal every time !

Good concept and looks interesting BUT the only reason to get a boat or get on a boat is to go fishing. I don’t see a way to put on a spot lock trolling motor and not even a single rod holder…
I watched a video where they mentioned all the pontoons are sectional so if one is damaged let's say the front left you don't need to replace the whole left side. I think that's a genius idea
Florida Ski Riders has a video of his family beaching it at a sandbar. My suggestion would be to make sure you’re on sand, avoid rocky shore line, and know the water before trying it. As long as it’s on sand looks to be safe.
I dont like that i can not get on the boat from the side, and i would never be able to get my dog on it from the front. I wish it had a onboard air compressor.
I thought of that too. Someone wanting to add a seat to their Switch and snagging one off your boat. The upside is this seems like it’s ratcheting up to be the “Jeep” of the water so might not be too hard to track the thief down. Like that video of a guy pulling up without a seat on his late model unique looking ski and stealing a replacement seat. I think he was tracked down pretty quick. He must have forgotten we live in the age of cameras.
They should of hired professionals for this video. It was very difficult to watch with sound. The girls hand movements mixed with the way she was reading made her look and sound like a robot. Luckily enough the Sea Doo is so freaking cool 😎 I had to keep watching.
Entitled much? You sound like the type of guy that refuses to read subtitles too. Their names and accents should be enough to tell you English is not their first language. Put up with it or look elsewhere.
Definitely need to be a 22-24’-26’ maybe twin motor and maybe hangers on the outside For paddle boards, wake boards, and maybe some way to strap an inter tube on the roof!! Mark my words this will happen!!!!
Sport package has dedicated tube holder on the stern. Also, if you add the Watersports and Fun package it comes with a wake board holder for the side. I preferred a sport 18 230 and added a few more goodies to it. Rolling it into the loan only raised my payment about 20 bucks. That package also includes the upgraded sound system, fuel tank, a couple storage bags, cooler, and a few other things I can’t think of. I added a transducer too for the included Garmin.
I got the 18 being delivered this week after the hurricane. The accessories are straight up price gouging. $800 for a cooler that (get ready for it.....snaps down using their stupid locking system). Funny that the cheapest accessory is like $250. I make a lot of money but balk at these prices. Ridiculous. For $100 I can buy a big cooler and just bolt that f'er down to the goddmamn floor. Wouldn't have bought this if I knew the accessories would allow BRP to price gouge people. Can't wait till the aftermarket undercuts these capitalist pigs
I’m with you bud. Looking at getting the 21’. No way I’m buying BRPs overpriced lego toys when I can get my own for a fraction of the price. Questions for you: I am looking to get the full Bimini top only because it’s needed for the camper enclosure. I plan to spend weekends on the thing just stargazing. Question one- is there storage enough for a single mattress and sleeping bag? Question two: what is the anchoring process like for when I find the perfect spot?
Yeah, they know that nearly every buyer is going to just add these things to the purchase and roll the costs right into their loan. The sell is that "it'll only raise your monthly payment by $20" and BAM! another sucker is had!
I ordered one. My dealer said it will be here by March (could be sales rhetoric) but as soon as I get it in some chop I’ll post some feedback. However the few chop videos I’ve seen it looks to handle pretty well for a smaller boat. Also it’s more like a V-hull jet ski with two outer pontoons than a traditional tri-toon. However you can submarine any boat that size if you hit the wrong wake at the wrong angle.
Are these the same engines they use for the Jet ski? If so how do you prevent them from sucking up weeds? Failed design. Best is to go back to outboard engine with a Tritoon. Fancy gadget meaning more stuff to break down. My seadoo jet ski has nothing but issues. I bet you this thing is the same as the jet ski.
Yeah agree with the other comment. The draft on this is 13.5 to 19.3 for the 21’. Shouldn’t be too hard to stay out of the weeds. You can get in much more shallow water than a standard out drive.
