What happened here? Easily one of the best songs at the event, but the live show felt like the background track (with recorded back vocals) was so much louder than Jana's voice, she could barely be heard, noticed or properly judged (for better or worse).

For those complaining about them - backing vocals can often MAKE a song.. as with my Happy Talk hit from 1981. For me the mix of Dance Alone is absolute perfection.. right down to the glorious echos on the breakdown section. Well done Macedonia.. this should have been a finalist for sure! 👏👏👏

Just giving my two cents on the vocals: Jana and her backing singers performed the whole song live. Jana's voice was audibly overlayed by some kind of effect to make it sound a bit more distorted, and I think they purposefully cranked up the volume for the backing singers to mask Jana's voice.

The music video is really colorful, with purple and red colors, yet here, half the time the backdrop is grey and she is wearing black clothes. It needed bright colors to capture the upbeat nature of the song.
