    Carols begin at 26:54.
At 28:28 you will hear the original of Carol of the bells - shchEdryk. It is said, it is a name for a little bird, sort of sparrow in Ukrainian, but, actually, it is absolutely unknown meaning of the word here. 99% of people will tell you Shchedryk is a derivative name from shchEdry vEchir (Bountiful Evening), the evening-night between January 13 and 14. Its Ukrainian lyrics has nothing to do with Christianity, it is a pagan spring carol.

In this whole 50+ minutes recording first half is sung in Church Slavonic language, the language of the Russian, Serbian and Bulgarian Orthodox Churches. The next half consists of the Ukrainian carols sung in Ukrainian. It may be interesting from the linguistic point of view, although I do not think you will hear any evident difference.
The recording itself is a rarity. Recorded in Paris in the 1950s.
