BM fans already know this type of unique acoustic version like Akatsuki Unfinished Version live at Legend 1997 or "The One - Stairway To Living Legend", so we're used to this SuMetal's vocals power to reach and melting our hearts. Fans at the recent World Tour 2023 were enjoying the original version of this song at every show and having a magical moment and pretty sure we're gonna get more this year. The three white figures dressed in white are probably a reference to old BM era when YuiMetal was still part of the group or maybe a reference to the new young BM unit they previously performed along with them and are part of this new metalverse project, they already debut at Summer Sonic Festival opening the festival with a set of new three songs exclusive for them. When they released this Piano Version the new official member MomoMetal wasn't announced yet, that's why you only see the two of them, after the official announcement they released another acoustic version of a song called "The One - Unfinished Version" and they included MomoMetal, the new official member in it. Nice reaction. First take is its own music channel run by Sony as far as I know. The idea is for the performer to do one take with minimal accompaniment. Meaning Su and Moa are singing at the same time. Which is why I think Su starts to look around a bit. Because one smile or smirk from Moa and this could have gone very differently with the two of them laughing. Moa's smile has that power. There are some harmonies going on during the song. The three hooded figures are singing too. For me the big thing here is the small miracle of Su and Moa performing while standing still. Which in truth you hardly ever get to see. Over the years Babymetal has liked to do different versions of songs. Keeps things fresh for them and adds to the you never know what they're going to do factor for their concerts as well. Even at their live shows, Babymetal don't really talk to the crowd very much. Being mysterious and kind of aloof is part of their whole persona, which is why they have no social media presence except for the band's official twitter and insta accounts. It's one of the things that sets them apart from most idol groups who are normally all about interacting with fans and cultivating parasocial relationships. This video was filmed early in 2023, before Momometal officially became the third member, so at the time Babymetal was just Su-metal and Moametal. There has been a whole lot of conjecture about what the three white robed figures meant, but no-one knows for sure. It was either a callback to the original trio of Su, Moa, and Yui, or it was a hint that a new member would be joining soon, but only the Fox God knows...
This video was released some months before they announce the official new third member, they are anticipating this showing a third hooded member. As suggested, try the live version of this song at PIA Arena in 2023, you will appreciate it.
This was done before Momometal was made the official 3rd, so while she still performed with Su and Moa in concerts and tours, anything between when Yuimetal left in 2018 to Apr 2023, will be strictly Su and Moa in any “official” Babymetal capacity. While this version is excellent, and truly showcase Su’s voice, the full version is so much better in my opinion. Do the one from Babymetal Begins, Clear Night 2023. 🤘🦊
