I just got myself an analog Micro Apex 3 in 2024 with 6s 1407 motors and I have to say it flies very much like my 5 inch, just on a smaller scale. It feels very powerful for it's weight and I like how it doesn't have any drag because of it.

Good to mention that you can build both frames using a toothpick 25x25 board with a 20x20 to 25x25 3d printed adapter and that will shave some weight off the build. I have my apex 4 inch built with 2004 2900kv motors, JHEMCU AIO 25x25 board, caddx vista running on 4s and the weight is 295 grams with a 650mah 4s lipo.
The 3" is so cute lol, i have three 450 size quads running 9 and 10" props, im about to build my first micro quad with the 3" frame, the whole thing is considerably smaller than the footprint of just one prop on my big quads ha ha.
Not a question but a recommendation: having tried both the Betafpv 2004 3000kv motors and the Mamba 1408 4000kv motors (which has about the same stator volume) on the Apex 4", and a variety of props, I've noticed that the 1408's feel much smoother (great with the HQ 4x3x3s). And although the 4000kv motors should have less flight time than the 3000kv motors, I seem to get longer flight times with them (the CNHL Black 4s 1100mah are a perfect match for the micro Apex 4", with an all up weight of about 360g on a Vista build, providing 6 minutes of flight time if your pretty heavy on the throttle, or up to 10 minutes cruising). Other motor sizes that would work would be 2005's and 1806's (but I haven't tried either of those).
I prefer the 1408 also, I put the 2004 to UL 5" instead. Gemfan 4023 props here, feels amazing in the air. And way better efficiency, I get 1min30s more on the 1408 with the 850mah 4S Tattu. I still want to try the 1507 motors on this setup but I'm not unhappy with the 1408, I've flown 1408 4" setups for ~1,5 years now and I no longer use the 5" as the reference point, I compare things to my 4" builds instead.
I don't have these frames, but I ran a 3" with 1106 motors for about a year and that was too powerful for me, lol. I never even turned them up to 100% before I blew that quad up. That was 130 grams AUW. I have 1404's on my new 4" build @ 160 grams AUW and it feels just right...at 72% capped power! I know a lot of pilots are comfortable with an insane thrust to weight ratio, but not me. So take those numbers into consideration. One easy way to estimate what you want amongst many motors is to do a simple stator volume calculation V=πr2h and see where you end up on volume to estimate how much power you are going to have. Or look at all the manufacturer motor charts and build a spreadsheet like I did. Unfortunately they all seem to test with wildly different props and voltages.
Question: I built a Micro Apex 3” with Caddx Vista and Nebula Pro camera, and love that the props are not in view (camera needs to be positioned slightly in front). Is this also possible with the Micro Apex 4”?

Will a antenna/gps mount 3D print for the 3" work for the 4" frame also?
The body of the frames is the same, only the arms are different, so depending on the print it should work fine.

Props are in view on the 4" using a Nebula pro on both 4:3 and 16:9, but if you use clear grey props you can make them pretty discrete.

I can highly recommend the 4" over the 3", the disk loading is all wrong on 3" with a half decent battery. The Apex micro wants to be a 4".
Unfortunately props will be in vire with the 4"
When will the 5" arms be available for the micro frame?
They are being tested and made at the moment - we don't have an exact date but it shouldn't be too long!
