Learn a simple way to make a beaded lariat with some cord in this PotomacBeads tutorial. The Pearl and Cord Lariat Necklace is a great project for beaders of all skill levels.
    1. Cut a 30 inch length of .8mm Knot-it! Chinese knotting cord. Tie a knot at the end and trim the excess. Use a thread zap to burn the end. Fold a short length of beading thread around the cord and bring the thread through a Potomac pearl. Using the thread as a needle, pull the cord through the pearl.
    2. Watch the Pearl and Cord Lariat Necklace tutorial to follow along with Allie as she shows you the technique used to create the design for the leather lariat. Learn some tips and tricks along the way to inspire you to create your own unique piece of DIY jewelry.
    3. Decide if you would like to use a clasp. You can add a Potomac crystal cosmic ring as a loop or charm. Maybe you’d like a decorative toggle like the pewter leaf and grapes. Try a loop and eye clasp or a large figure eight lobster clasp.
There are so many options when it comes to how you will wear your Pearl and Cord Lariat Necklace. You could even wear it on your wrist as a leather wrap bracelet. Have fun making multiple versions and trying out new and exciting beads to show off.

Wow, Allie, you always amaze me. If I had been demonstrating with all those separate cords, there would be a gigantic knot piled up in front of me! lol. Thanks for sharing with us the many, many ways of creating a necklace with just some cord, pearls, and other pretty items.

You can get the pearls "through" the cosmic ring by pushing the cords back through the ring. Once the lariat is finished. Just take the cords at the closest part near the ring and push them back up into the ring forming a loop (on the other side of the ring) with them, thus it will appear as though the pearls have gone through the ring when really it was just the cords that did. Hopefully, the loops you form will be big enough to fit over your head.

This reminds me of a set I made a few years ago. I’ll have to see if I can find the pic of it and post it on the FB page.
