4:04 Actually, the problem with TikTok absolutely IS the videos on the app-more specifically, 1) the creators/content TikTok does and does NOT allow on the app, 2) which videos they choose to promote and/or suppress, and ultimately 3) the holistic implications of this dynamic on the app's massive userbase. The Chinese can currently manufacture consent among young Americans more effectively than our own intelligence agencies, which should scare the piss out of anyone who knows just how effective the CIA is at infiltrating media.
Q: Do you know if CCP can access the information of Americans in someone's contact list that doesn't use/have TikTok app on their phone?
@@Niv1030 It depends on how much of your activity you allow your contacts to see. For example: if you're using Whatsapp and you allow your personal contacts to see all your activity/info, then TikTok can see that too because of the permission those people gave to TikTok. This is the exact same method Facebook used to create a whole network of "shadow profiles" for people who never even signed up for Facebook.
Most apps don't demand all of these permissions, but TikTok does (and now that it worked for TikTok, more apps will probably try to get away with it). Always check what permissions your apps are asking for before you click "Allow", because it doesn't just end with you.
The deflection towards the first amendment away from access to user data was sketch. Ccp don't need it to share dancing videos. It has nothing to do with free speech.
