  • iLO 5 firmware update procedure is easy and takes less than a minute. See the link below. It does not require you to reboot the server, but it will reset iLO. The system ROM can be also updated through the same procedure.

So, HPE recommends to downloading firmware from a google search result? What if someone ranks better than you for those terms some day? Or simply buys an ad for those keywords...

He did say "the first link will be the HP (sic) support page" so at least he indicates that you should go to an official support page (I would suggest the HPE Support Page, myself). I would just say that you should FIND the HPE Support Page, rather than signifying the "First Link". And can the cheesy music. It is unprofessional.

WHY leave the option to store in ILO repository blank?

Did anyone else think that by the time we got to 2019, clicking "firmware update" button would update the firmware?

Yes. HPE are a joke these days.. a shell of thier former self. Doing anything to a HPE server takes HOURS compared to Lenovo and Dell. Its a disgrace.

Just take a look at the documentation for thier firmware update. Its like its written by a 5 year old.. the instructions are ambiguous, provide no details - just vague references and we are left to GUESS.. about a damn firmware update. I kid you not I tried using the Intelligent Provisioning to detect new firmware updates, and it detected an OLDER one that was installed. HPE has gone for buggy, untested garbage. Long gone are the days when you could say HP is rock solid, and a good company to partner with.. its shocking, and shareholders should be livid.

@@jansenbrown3435 Yes, bad marketing also - they want license for remote VGA and their dealers never include it with their offers so you receive the server without it (while this works out of the box on Supermicro); So according HPE, the sysadmins are ought to use their pocket money to buy it. And their system doesn't find our Gen10 server by its serial number, so they even don't know they have made it....

I'm updating from within the Intelligent Provisioning software on my DL380 Gen10 iLO 5 system and the version numbers are very confusing. For example:
HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Linux x86_64
    Available version v2.23.11
    Current version v20.12.41
Can anyone explain this to me, please?

What's with the childish background music? Or the commentator that has English as their second language? Very unprofessional and about as confused as the product itself.

Agree on the music, but who told you it should be oxford English?
