We have Single Root bridge at Riwai Village in Meghalaya. This is very beautiful and must visit Place in shillong.Best time to visit in at rainy season. i loved visiting the village and people are very nice and humble.
The Single Decker Root Bridge is in Riwai village in Meghalaya. It is in the East Khasi Hills district. Riwai village is near Mawlynnong. It is about 80 km from Shillong.The Living Root Bridge has been constructed of grown out of the roots of the Focus elastic tree and it is functional. The Single Decker Root Bridge is about 50 meters long. Tribals from Riwai village claim that the root bridge is over 300 years old. Living Root Bridges in Meghalaya are recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Sites !
Travelers have to hike through the forest buffer area for about 450 meters till they reach the amazing Living Root Bridge.
