the production values for Mantic's games have really increased massively since KoW v3 arrived, it's great to see. One thing I've not seen yet which I do like is a fast play sheet, but no doubt someone will update the old one.
This boxset would be perfect if it came with the rubber mat. I bought the first and second edition boxset and they came with the mat. Even if the price would have increased for $30-40, I would still buy it. Still, you always get a lot of stuff from Mantic Games. Great video.
You can buy the mat for that extra price, so if youw ant it, it's the same as if it would come with the mat inside :) AFAIK the 2nd boxset had only a paper mat in it
@@ClaudioMacShepherd looks like I got confused. I definitely bought the first edition boxset and the infestation box that came with terrain, the desert mat, zombies and AI deck. Now I don't know if that set was from the first or second edition. It's been a while 😂. Anyway, I'll definitely buy this new edition, along with the mat, extra terrain and acrylic tokens. Thanks for the input ☺️.
Oh my, oh my! Veer-myn with Prey rule. I LOVe it. Swarms with no Tough but W4, heavy ray guns are in the game, chem spitters, Terror with spitter and Tunnel Runners have Prey... How cool. Brood Mother wit new ability. WoF (1) and Resilient (1). Nightmares are cheaper, crwlers are cheaper, Thralls are 0VP... Oh my!
After battle for bilbostock first edition where I started with vermyn I haven't have and play them until third, always wanted but never got the chance to pick them up. Finally we'll be reunited soon 🤣
That's one stuffed box, I'm glad I ordered it alongside some more stuff..... :-p Great to see Washington's foot and the Veermyn carcas are sperate pieces, it gives me some more basing options without wasting time on clipping, scraping and filing :-)
@@WeightofFire And to be sure I have enough pieces I ordered the new seperate terrainset too. I'm going to match them to the desert buildings I already have. My new faction, the GCPS, will be painted up as a police force, or the remainants thereoff :-)
I have a question about deadzone alot of wargames games workshops come to mind have a problem where there are tons of options to take for your list but all but like 3 of them are horrible rules wise so you feel obligated to spam the same 3 units for the whole list does deadzone have the same problem?
i dont think so, there isnt the same sort of pressure to release models and the game has been pretty stable for a good while. one of the main aims of the rules committee has been to allow all models to have a use in game and i think it does that
@@WeightofFire just read what I wrote and realised what your comment was referring to and realised my mistake lol - the remake was in reference to Dungeon Saga only not the other two lol 😂
Uhh what? Have you seen the latest boxes like Kill Team Octarius and Age of Sigmar Dominion? Those models are freaking amazing, and Octarius had a truckload of really unique terrain and cardboard mat. And this is still coming with a paper mat compared to the first edition of Deadzone that had a neoprene/mousepad style mat. That was some good quality. GW has their shortcoming for sure (for comparison, the core rulebook of the latest Kill Team doesn't have all the factions like the previous edition did and this new Deadzone does), but they still put out top notch sets and I'd say for a good value - most of the time. $200 for a giant is bonkers no matter how many small bits he has.
I would agree Brad that there is certainly more modelling challenge to both the troops & the buildings than something like Star Saga, but it isn’t more difficult than the Forge Father frame (easier I’d say as torso is a single piece) they are pretty intuitive once you get them in your hands and arms are numbered too - Hal
@@WeightofFire it is more that the frame is used to make like 3 or 4 different base types so you sort of need to have a plan or know what is a recruit, marine, veteran, and ranger. In the last edition there were like 2 different laser rifles and one was mainly for the marines and one for the rangers but the marines could take it as an upgrade. Just stuff like that. I was just doing steel warriors on Saturday and the torso leg fit was not ideal.
@@WeightofFire I guess I just suffer from Analysis Paralysis when looking at a new game. If you say each side is making like a 150 point lists using just stuff in the box what should be some build options.
@@bradp6452 Don't forget that Mantic included assembly guides with colour coded arms/weapons to show which option is what. This will help massively for newer players and was long needed for a starter. Combine that with the little 3vs3 test/demo mat including the profiles and it should be a nice smooth learning curve!
Also that hulk change hurts, the hp change is irrelevant since he was size 3 tough it comes out to the same but worse since tough>1 wound and making him support means its 3 troops to get him now right? In what way is he better?
Not sure why things should always get better. The moving to support is interesting as marauders always have high competition for the specialist slots but few options for support. I think the hulk is in some ways more attractive now than previously. Ripper suits have hardly had a nerf as rampage won’t kick in until wounded which is still hard to do due to their armour and survive stat
@@WeightofFire You said the Hulk was better in some ways and I didn't see how so I asked, I don't assume things should always be better. Good point about the lack of support for Marauders I hadn't thought of that. Sorry you think going down a size on a melee unit (mostly this all hurts mauler not rainmaker) and losing 1 hp while keeping the point cost the same is hardly a nerf? Plus the fact as far as I can see Radgrad is gone they have no size 3 fighters at all now, I just don't understand why. They were a great unit but they didn't seem so out of balance that it called for that kind of hard nerf unless something size 3 or some other kind of buff is coming with the new models next year (fingers crossed).
The box art is incredible, the Veer-myn's jaw getting atomised is really visceral.

Agree they are really high standards now
The models look great, the game is fun, and Mantic LISTENS to players to improve their product. I know what I want for Christmas.
All fair points and I’m sure Santa will be generous you have clearly been good :)

Nice job Andy, thanks! :)
You’re welcome
Looks AWESOME!!!!!!!
Gonna be fun to play
Need one piece moulds to get super fast access for people playing especially kids. Like mars attack,!
Yes the models and resins are not designed for novice players. Probably not the group who are picking DZ up mind you due to the coverage Mantic get
Nameless and Mazon Labs are both pre-assembled PVC, which could be good for kids.
I gotta wait three more weeks for this? :(

weren't phase claws on sergeant howlett in 2nd ed?

60mm bases
