My Yamaha it’s 2022 50 hrs I use at the river or lake no salt water whatsoever and got a temperature and check engine light on recently any hints will be appreciated
If you where pushing high RPMs for an extend period of time that can happen. If it doesn't overheat at ide or with extend use at mid RPM range there is likely nothing wrong. If it is overheating at ide or midrange then I would flush it using a garden hose (Engine running). If that does not correct the problem all of cooling lines should be checked for clogs and also check the anode rod. Thanks for watching!
I’ve changed my oil every year since I’ve owned it, but I always come to UA-cam to refresh my memory and to pick up some tips and tricks. You just earned my sub! Appreciate the video, and the advanced video. Do you happen to have a link for the valve/hose adapter you use for running on land? That is neat.
So I took your advice and bought the pump. But I didn’t get any manual on my 2018ex. Not sure the correct way to check oil. Haha but I just put it in the water and I didn’t see anything on the stick. I caught another video about running it first so I took it out for 20 min (good and hot) now I checked it and I could see oil when I took the yellow stick out. as if it’s way too full. So is it important just to let it run 3-5 min only then ck it??? Help pls.
I cover it in my oil change video: ua-cam.com/video/zKBXVlYFIIs/v-deo.html Yes you need to let it idle for 5 - 10 minutes. after running on the water before before checking the level. I suspect the level is close to correct based on your description.
Fair point. I can't remember exactly why I had to do that. I'm assuming that it was not completely full. When you completely drain all the oil out from the reservoir and bottom of the engine, it takes exactly 3 quarts (1.5 quarts in the reservoir and engine). Thanks for watching and commenting!
You need to take this video down. You didn’t take out all the oil. You left half in. There is a tube on the engine block that you have to remove the other half from……😮😮😮😮
Where did u get your fire extinguisher I’ve been having trouble with trying to find one for mine bought my 18 with low hours and dealer days out of stock
Yes, if you have to add a large amount of oil it should split between the two. A typical top off should only be a few ounces and can just be added to the reservoir. Thanks for watching!
Is it possible to put too much oil in the dipstick and get a higher reading than it actually is? I only put back just under 3 total quarts and my dipstick is still reading at the full mark. I put about 2.5 into the dipstick. I feel like it should be reading lower. Engine takes 3.6 quarts..
It is possible, but what I would do is run the engine and recheck. If you put the correct amount in, that will even out the amount of oil in the engine and reservoir. Thanks for watching!
@@andysgarageadventures8043 yeah realised my partner was in the bloody shower when I was trying to flush it and had no water pressure to the garden hose lol it’s all good! Thanks for the reply tho
Start it, give it a couple of revs, keep it below 1500 RPMs. It is ok to run it out of the water for 15 seconds. If it sounds ok, there are not any warnings and it is not smoking, check the oil. If the oil is clean I would buy it. The TR1 motor is really solid and Yamaha makes a really good machine. Nothing is 100% but the above steps will eliminate the really bad things. Thanks for watching!
@andysgarageadventures8043 we can run water but they won't let me test run because it's never seen saltwater I should be okay going out on a limb on this one my first ski
@@michaelstanton556 Run it with the hose connected for 5 minutes. If you don't get any warnings and it sounds ok, running it on the open want will not likely reveal anything more then the hose test. Good luck!
The water is ingested into the machine and exits two ways. The first way is to pass through a series of water jackets throughout the engine plus other components and exits from the outlet on the side of the machine. The second way is out the exhaust. The exhaust gasses get mixed with the water exiting that way. If the engine is not running, it is posable to fill the exhaust system with water and have it backflow into the cylinders through the exhaust valve(s). A bad gasket that is part of the water jacket system is the other possibility but less common. Thanks for the question and for watching!
Best video I've found, thanks, I'm ready!

I thought whatever oil you take out is exactly what you put back in, how come you pulled out about 1.5 quarts but put back over 2 quarts?

I've heard Yamaha recommends filling oil at two places the dipstick and the valve top area about 1.3Qt each..

Hello! Tell me please, how much time I can run engine with water, for 15, 30 or 60 minutes with no damage engine and shaft seal? Thank you
I generally try to keep it under 5 minutes. Thanks for watching!
What fire extinguisher do you have in there, It seems impossible to find one that fits!
I was able to get my at Cabela's / Bass Pro.

3 quarts. Thanks for watching and commenting!
What’s the black twist cap on top I thought you pour the oil in there ?
I cover those steps in this video: ua-cam.com/video/8mRskHiAKQs/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
Do you know if this is the same process for the 2021 models? Also can I use amsoil marine instead?
Yes, the 2021s are still using the same TR1 engines. I also have a video on the advanced steps you might want to consider watching.
You can use other marine oils as long as they meet the Yamaha required specs.
Is the E x. a good wave runner ?
My opinion it yes. Very reliable and a reasonable price point. Thanks, for watching and commenting.
What is the oil filter part number?
5GH-13440-61. Thanks for watching!
