    ESPN will squeeze every drop out of LeBron until he finally retires. The sad thing is, all this focus on LeBron has taken attention away from the next stars in the NBA, and the NBA ratings have suffered because of it.

    • @markmansfieldsbwc4674
      @markmansfieldsbwc4674 16 днів тому +18

      Yes. The NBA and its media alienates and infuriates the rest of its non-LA fans, by its non-stop and incessant coverage of LaBron and the Lakers. We understood it when the Lakers were on top, but now that they are a mediocre/fringe play-in team, all of the coverage is just plain silly. The NFL has its faults, but one thing they do way better than the NBA is give credit where it’s due. The rest of the non-KC fans might be tired of the Chiefs and their being featured in all the primetime games and spotlight, but we respect it because the Chiefs have earned it on the field. The NFL gives the spotlight to whatever team deserves it, even if it’s in small markets like Buffalo or Green Bay. The NBA on the other hand, shoves LeBron and the Lakers down everyone’s throats even thought their title winning days are over. It’s disrespectful to places like Denver, Minnesota, OKC, and Dallas who have earned it on the court. And they wonder why their viewership continues to slide..

      @@markmansfieldsbwc4674 Facts the NFL could have milked the end of Tom Brady, but they build up KC, Buffalo, Baltimore and Cinncy. They got America use to watching these teams and now are building up Houston and whoever else step up. ESPN spams Cowboys, but the NFL doesn't let them have full control or make the schedule. The NBA does and it hurts there ratings.

    • @markmansfieldsbwc4674
      @markmansfieldsbwc4674 16 днів тому +8

      @@jamiesp3901 You’re totally right. The NFL could have gone way over board with Tom Brady’s departure but they didn’t. And you’re also right about Baltimore and Cinncy. There’s no way in hell the NBA would treat those smaller markets and fan bases so well. And now with the rise of the Houston Texans, the NFL is helping to reenergize their non-Dallas, Texas fan base by putting some of the spotlight on the Texans due to their play on the field last year. Now contrast that with how the NBA and their media handled their exciting young team on the rise this year (OKC)..crickets..And here we are in the dam Finals, and what does ESPN spend an hour on? The Lakers POTENTIAL new coach, just speculation! He’s not even hired yet, who cares! It should JUST be about Dallas and Boston right now, NOT the dam LAKERS 11th coach in the last 4 years! 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @PGO_Gaming
      @PGO_Gaming 16 днів тому +6

      The coverage leaning towards LeBron does hurt the ratings and is a downfall for the NBA, but it is not as important as THE WAY THEY PRESENT THE LEAGUE. That is the problem. CBS, NBC and Fox present the NFL well, and have done so for over 40 years. Theme music, halftime shows, pageantry and commentary. The NFL doesn't have a problem in that regard. ESPN is poor in every facet of PRESENTING THE LEAGUE. No theme music. Halftime show stinks. They do not set up the game well. Their commentary team is poor. Everything about ESPN since 2000, in all sports, has been poor in terms of presentation, other than in Tennis. That is their issue.

    • @markmansfieldsbwc4674
      @markmansfieldsbwc4674 16 днів тому +5

      That said, I think TNT does a fairly good job presenting the NBA. Way better than ESPN..

    I just cancelled my ESPN+ account for similar reasons.
    ESPN used to have professional journalists who used to report and talk about sports. It was awesome during the 1990’s. This changed during the decade of the 2000’s.
    That’s when ESPN started to get rid of the real sports journalists and started transitioning into Social Media.
    Ever since Disney purchased ESPN, they have removed 90% of people who had any sort of journalistic background.
    Now, it is no longer about sports. It’s about who has created the best TAKE and who can yell the loudest, for the sole purpose of stirring the pot. Sports is now secondary.
    And I agree with everyone, ESPN’s coverage of the NBA Finals is shit Top to Bottom. They bring nothing to the sport.

    NBC losing the license to ESPN in 2003 as always been the worst moment for the NBA in terms of presentation. Listen to their coverage, and watch how they present. They don't have set music. They don't set the game up well. It sounds like a regular season game. NBC and CBS before it in the 80's, made every game feel important. Even regular season games. A poem before the game to talk about the participants and the magnitude of the game. Iconic theme music from both networks that is played TO THIS DAY.
    ESPN has never cared about any of that. They play rap music before the game. They don't have theme music. Their Countdown crew is pathetic. Their NBA commercials promoting future games are extremely poor and forgettable. I cannot believe that the NBA re-upped with them and gave them the Finals in the new deal. Death knell for the NBA. The NBA does not care how it's sport is covered and it shows.

    • @PGO_Gaming

      On the flip side, TNT has been great for the NBA for over 40 years. Not just Inside the NBA. The way they set the game up. Consistent theme music that they have had since 2004 and have never changed in 20 years. Pregame is fire. Halftime is fire. Postgame is fire. All of it. The new deal should have been TNT and NBC because both of those networks KNOW HOW TO PRESENT SPORTS.

You have the most important set of games for the entire NBA season right on the cusp of beginning, and you spend the majority of the time talking about reports of a college coach, going to a franchise that was bounced in the first round of that playoff? LeBron James is honestly becoming bad for the growth of the NBA. These networks and the league itself can’t even consistently market its other stars because they still have to revolve around It’s almost 40-year-old former superstar. I truly believe once LeBron is out of the NBA, the league, if they finally get some sense, will have a chance to regain popularity in the US. American fans in majority are tired of if not completely done with LeBron James and his era.

    I have been a Lakers fan for years. Almost 20 years actually. I thought outrageous they are talking about the Lakers when there is a NBA finals game on, and Lakers are not part of it. ESPN don’t have anyone on the show that can actually breakdown the game unlike TNT.

    Disney has utterly destroy itself along with some of its +20 year franchises including Marvel and ESPN. Disney used to have the midas touch, now all they have is the boo boo touch. Everything Disney ownes has turned to Shhhh. Ryan Reynolds had to threaten them with walking if they wouldn’t let him make this Deadpool 3 movie the way he wanted and they still tried their best to screw it up. Anyhow, Disney is the common denominator in all this. They no longer care about great entertainment, it’s all about the message and keeping Leflop relevant.

    ESPN and Klutch tried to engineer what NBA had naturally with MJ and then Kobe and Shaq.
    ESPN had their MJ - it was Kobe. But they canceled him and tried to FORCE LeBalco down people’s throats and it’s destroyed the NBA ratings.
    They are getting more money cause of luck - the rest of tv has been cannibalized by streaming. Sports are the ONLY place people watch ads cause it’s the only thing we watch live together.
    You may talk about a show - you usually don’t watch it at the same time as everyone else on tv - you stream it with no ads.
    So even tho the NBA ratings are way way down - the supply of overall ad slots on tv is too - so the ad spots sports provides are WAY more valuable than they used to be. That’s why despite poor ratings the NBA can get a huge media rights deal.

    As long as that horrible woman has been the host of ESPN's NBA Today show, it's been nothing but garbage. After they wrongfully dismissed Max Kellerman, the entire ESPN platform has taken a serious blow. My opinion. It's almost cult like the way they cover LBJ and the Lakers. 🤔 Kind of reminds me of people who happen to pander to a certain New Yorker from today's tabloids 🤔

    How did they all think Dallas was better than Boston. Boston won 13 more games. Beat Dallas twice in the regular season season. Celtics only lost 2 games in the entire playoffs when the series started. And Boston had a historically good starting 5. Dallas roster not even close to as deep as Boston. These idiots shouldn’t have a job they are terrible
