Hey Justin, I got into Descript after your very first video on it, and it is fantastic. My stuff is pretty speech heavy, so letting me edit a video as a text document is fantastic. It's really developing fast, and they've added a bunch of stuff I thought was lacking. However, more important is that they've added stuff I never knew I needed, like the dubbing capability and now eye tracking. It's a superb piece of work.
Hey, Mark! It's awesome that Descript has been so helpful for your speech-focused content. The new features they've added, like dubbing and eye tracking, seem to be making a big difference. - Hazel, PV Team
Great tutorial. I use Descript already for SRT files, but I love how far they have come recently and plan to start tinkering with the full editing suite. It's ideal for people who want to get into editing but don't want to get overwhelmed with complex video editors.
Absolutely! Descript's evolution is impressive. It's fantastic for simplifying the editing process while maintaining powerful features. Best of luck with your video editing journey, Jane! - Hazel, PV Team
Really helpful as always - I had no idea how to add a jump cut just to one specific clip rather than the whole timeline. But learning in this video that I needed to make the video into scenes was the big breakthrough I needed - so simple but wasn't clearly explained by Descript, so thanks a lot!
This was the video that I was looking for to teach me how be able to use Descript in the fullest way, Justin😀 I really love DaVinci Resolve for the precision of editing but being able to edit based on the transcript is an absolute gamechanger for speeding up the process. Awesome video @PrimalVideo!
So glad to hear that this video helped you unlock Descript's full potential! It's amazing how tools like Descript can streamline the editing process. Thanks for the support! 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
awesome thanks, we can also manually control the volume on the audio track by right clicking on the audio track and clicking add volume keyframe, and you can insert those points like in garage band where you can start the audio very low and then start gradually increasing etc
Excellent tutorial and now I’m sold on Descript after this! Well, it was a warm sale because I am in a podcasting master class, and they had suggested that we all use it for editing of our podcasts, and I had no idea 🤷🏽♀️ that it had such capability like the eye Icontact functionality. Looking forward to using it and hopefully leveling up in our podcast! 😊
On the effects it would be insane if they managed to work with Beeble's "SwitchLight" where they can relight a scene, I think it's gonna become truly revolutionary judging by the speed it's moving.
Hey man looking at switching to this for my podcast as stream yard is not ideal, can you add transitions to clips you layer for example fade in and out etc. Regards APD
Hey Justin, have you faced an issue with the audio after applying "studio sound"? My audio ended up sounding like there was a lisp when I applied that feature, when actually there was no lisp at the time of recording. As soon as I removed the effect, the lisp went away as well. But I need to be able to use that feature to get rid of BG noise. Please help if you know anything about this.
Hi, loves your fun videos.... Simple yet high quality.... You are a great inspiration... Am starting my own & hope to be as successful as you... Take Care...
Wow... Thanks for sharing and the in-depth review. Like you, I enjoy the "geeking out" bit... I've done a bit of "traditional" video editing (simple stuff like ScreenFlow, etc.) so the timeline-based editing is super-cool and amazing to me. Thanks for the good work!
If i want to make a tutorial based on my screen recording, and use ai voice. Is that possible? How is the flow to match my voice and my mouse clicks on the screen
Just a question for you and the community following you. I was wondering is there any AI tool that can make a demo reel but from original videos. I have some videos a dozen that would like to edit to create a dynamic demo reel. Just a fast edit, no effects whatsoever. Just to help me out edit faster and bring new ideas. Like I upload the dozen videos and maybe say that I want a 1min30s video of them.
You may want to try Opus Clip, It was mentioned in this video too ua-cam.com/video/KsAZpp5gy1c/v-deo.htmlsi=aM1tKBrO_5w9d_rl. Feel free to watch 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
Really surprised you don't include dividing into smaller scenes by using forward slash and then accessing Descript video library which will then just cover the scene. No need to edit timeline. Fir me this one if Descripts very best features
Thanks! I did mention scenes, didn’t dive into the video library though. I’m not a big fan of any built in music/footage library and would much rather suggest people use dedicated sites for those, makes the licensing much easier, and easier to deal with any copyright issues if you personally hold the license
Any copyright issue on using Descript stock musics? I remember in your CapCut tutorial you told to avoid stock music in order to void copyright issues on UA-cam.
Hey Justin, a few years ago in a video you mentioned getting $6 an hour video editors from the Philippines. Could you point me in the right direction in finding them?
Great video but one thing this tutorial doesn't have is how to fix the timing of adding words Descript did not pick up on. When you add text to fix the script it completely messes up the timing and puts the words at the wrong time. There is a video that shows you can drag these words across using the bottom editing tools, but it does not work for iMAc (by holding the command key and hovering mouse as suggested in the video.) It is very frustrating not being able to find a solution for this when even imovie makes chopping and changing easy. Your video only shows how to drag the words & timing together - not the desired outcome for this problem that we see many people searching for.
OK for talking heads but what about Real World Videos of Events such as a Bike rally or a scuba dive on a wreak, things that have no dialoged? Real World Events.
@@PrimalVideo Thanks Justin. Audio only would make sense, because as long as the software doesn't do anything with the video, uploading possibly hundreds of gigabytes is an insane waste of bandwidth.
So even if you pay $12 per month, you still have severe limits on usage/time? Only 10 hours a month transcription and remote recording. A severe limit on filler word removal to just 'hum' and 'uh'. AI Voices limited to 1,000 words, same as free model, AI green screen maximum 60 minutes. AI eye contact limited to 60 minutes. Studio sound limited to 60 minutes. Stock library limited to first 12 results only. If I'm going to pay $12 every month for your product, you need to remove those limits. The last thing I want is to have to 'pay' for a crippled product.
The Free and Creator plans offer a 1,000 Overdub word vocabulary, while the Pro and Enterprise plans offer an unlimited word Overdub vocabulary. - Hazel, PV Team
I opened Riverside and within 5 min I was set up and recording first time ever using it. Been messing with descript for 30min and can’t even set up a built in webcam. Had to watch a tutorial and still can’t. Shouldn’t be this complicated.
That's a great video tutorial but Justin, the background music is very very annoying and off-putting. Makes it hard to concentrate on what you're saying. Please don't do that anymore in your videos

Does descript have a b roll stock library you can search for content ?

is it also possible to have subtitles from speech?

Does one have to upload the source video material to their server or does it only send the audio for analysis?
I think for the transcript it’s just the audio as that’s really quick, but I think the entire project is uploaded to cloud in the background.
