Stellenbosch University (SU) recently hosted the annual Rector's Awards, celebrating 84 outstanding students in a night of pride and prestige. Themed “Empowering Minds, Empowering Communities: Dreamers, Doers, Difference Makers,” the event featured live music and highlighted the importance of resilience and community impact in education. Rector Prof. Wim de Villiers emphasized that the awards recognize not only academic success but also the potential for students to effect change in their communities. Special recognition was given to Kallie Sauls for his dedication to supporting student access to education, and Siziphiwe Ligebhu received the Academic Resilience Award for her perseverance through personal challenges.
