Hi Retera. I've experienced an odd issue I want to hear your take on. When I try to move the root bone that controls the whole model, for an example say I have a case where I want the character to transition from stand to sit, to sit to stand (running in a loop as a stand animation in wc3). Simplied it would be 4 keyframes for the whole animation, but in 2 of them the root bone is moved(in the 2 sitting keyframes). For some reason the model tends to bounce in place place between the two keyframes where the rootbone is moved away from its original position. This issue primarily happens if I make my own bone structure. If I import the skeleton from another model, there is a chance that this bouncy behavior does not occur.
yeah, I programmed it to do that, because it was easier than working out the correct mathematics for hermite and bezier. You can fix it by making the animation in mdlvis and then importing it in Retera Model Studio, or you can fix it by using `Edit > Optimize > Linearize animations`. Or you could fix it by converting to MDL and then changing the inward and outward tangential data for each newly inserted keyframe.
@@TheShorka Thank you for the answer! mdlvis had not properly worked for me but I did try that other solution you mentioned with "Linearize solutions" and that seems to have done the job. So thank you very much !!
I am the author of the program. I created it. So, if I had an error 4 years ago when recording this video, I would have fixed the error along with designing the rest of the entire Retera Model Studio.
@@dougaljc Hmm. I think the hotkey binding for CTRL+W stopped working in some of these versions but I forget which specific version(s). Were you able to use 0.04.4 or is that version unable to run on your computer? (For some computers 0.04.4 requires too new of an OpenGL version) Also, are you able to use "Edit > Rig" from the dropdown menus? I think it is the same as CTRL+W so that might be a workaround if the hotkey binding is broken.
@@dougaljc Hive is the place to go, but the latest download has 2 ZIPs inside it. One of them is 0.04.2 and one of them is 0.04.4. I left that so that people who had problems with my new one would have the option of going to the old one, but on my computers where the new one works I would generally just always use the newest.
Are you looking to update your Retera Model Studio to handle WC3 Reforged MDX to WC3TFT MDX conversion? That'd be real neat! So far, WET as of version 0.4.2.2 (Warcraft Export Tools) only supports exporting WC3 Reforged MDX into OBJ, missing all the bones, animations, and other information.
@KenjiAzurai reskins are mostly the same but units have MORE skin files, so it takes a little longer. I am capable of making dismounted bandit lord but in a group activity at the moment and can't do it right at the moment. On the upside, I made a tool that will hopefully let you do it! ;) but i need to make it easier to understand the tool I suppose
Fantastic tutorial Retera! I'll try this... but first I need to recompile my CAMPAIGN file assets into a single MAP file for Datastore purposes

How do you attach weapons or helmets to a character?
4 years later and did you know how to do it?
Yes I did
@@vishu766 how?

Hi! Did you have any problems during retera installation? It causes an error during start

I'm using v0.04.2b and finding that Ctrl+W doesn't do anything at all..
Hmm. Were you editing a model on classic graphics or Reforged graphics? I think that it did not work on Reforged graphics in most versions.
@@TheShorka Classic graphics, my game version is also 1.26a if that matters

@@TheShorka Nah I don't see any rig option there. I'm just using the version of the studio that I got from Hive, where can I access a newer version?

@KenjiAzurai yea reforged uses MDX and converting to the old format is an option in my tool :D
