Hi from nor California. 707. I got court at 9 am. Facing 36 months. Sounds like a eternity to me. How homeboy seems like he came out normal with his time gives me both anxiety and hope i got the similar courage. My first time going behind the walls as a adult. This life is misery kids. Aint nothing cool about missing my first child being born. GOD bless anyone who read this.

Good luck. Keep away from drugs and debts. Keep the faith and train hard and read and stay healthy. You’ll be out just fine. Think and reflect on how you got there and change friends and habits. It’s not like you’re doing 36 years. You will be fine. We all mess up. Use this time to focus on what matters

Why risk not being in your child’s life? No amount of money is worth not being there….luckily you’ll be out by the time she’s cognizant…don’t risk having to watch her grow up without you. Kids don’t care if you’re poor and they’re easy to feed….do the right thing homie even if you’re poor af.

I relate to this story on so many levels. I started out young, with my Dad also, & it was all normal to me. I ran hard for a lot of years & saw no problem with it. The DEA picked me up in 2019 for distribution & I went to Federal prison. There, I also learned about how we become addicted to crime just as much, if not more, than drugs. Prison was a blessing for me. I had a 20 year long heroin addiction that I could never kick. Prison made me decide to change my life & it’s been almost 5 years since I’ve used that devil drug.
    Awesome interview!

@@notsocrates9529 I just had a really bad addiction problem & throughout the 20 years that I used heroin, I tried repeatedly to get & stay clean. I never made it to even 3 months before I was using again. I sold drugs for a large portion of my life & had someone I knew for 8 years snitch on me, along with about 15 other people. We all went to the Feds. But like I said, I made the choice to get my life back together & haven’t looked back.

It's tragic how often parents in the US are the ones that begin their children's drug addiction. Shaun, your experiences in America really give you a connection with interviewees, especially ex-American prisoners. I'd let them know right from the beginning of the interview.

I did 5.2 years in Az ... started on a 4 yard, and eventually made it to a 2 yard. After about 4 years, they constantly messed up the classification on fish. I remember at classification these 2 guys snuck into another group to go get another plate from the chow hall. They were caught and were instantly locked down and classified as 5s(which is the highest in az. ) All for a second tray. Bad decision.
