      hiya I think it was 8mm but anything will do, the thicker the cord the quicker and chunkier it is

    Lovely thank you. How do you decide how many wrap arounds to do, it looks like you vary this at times.

      it depends on the raffia, sometimes you get a nice wide piece that doesn't need many wraps, I think about the spacing rather than a number
