Do you prefer WWE superstars who focused on wrestling or the ones who focused on being Divas? Is there room in WWE for both?
There’s really no reason we can’t have both even in a PG geared product. A woman can be presented as “hot” but in a more respectful way than in the Attitude Era. You can also just let a hot girl be a strong valet or manager. Salina de la Renta is pretty good proof of this.
A pretty great discussion
This video discussion made me remember when ECW in 2006 advertised ECW Strip Poker In which the female wrestlers would strip while it cut in between of matches.
At that point it was more sex over substance - Kelly Kelly being an exhibitionist and divas who could show more ass as opposed to years later where it was about who could kick more ass
I have mixed feelings. The Divas Era had some excellent wrestlers (although they were the exception to the rule). However, as others have pointed out, there's nothing wrong with sexy women who serve as characters including valets, managers, and personalities. However, they really shouldn't step into the ring unless they are solid workers. For example, Eva Marie was a good personality (and easy on the eyes) but her work was the drizzling sh*ts
True - the problem became when WWE decided it wasnt worth the patience of developing them - then when trained women got hired they were pushed into the same role as those who couldnt wrestle
The move to a PG rating also contributed to the shift away from ‘Divas’ and towards Wrestlers
It did - but we also saw the likes of Candace Michelle, hired as a lingerie model, go the Stratus route and train to become a capable wrestler
After all these Vince allegations I highly doubt that wwe women will ever have swimsuit magazines, dvds, bra and pnties matches etc
That's completely fair. There is also a whole fear of "everything will eventually get cancelled" when the reality is it's only controversial when seen by groups outside the target audience.
