7 Days KAYAK CAMPING Pt.3

- @the wonderingelectrician , @Side Trail Adventures and Dirt Dobber join me on a Kayak camping quest to paddle the entire Deep River. 120 miles, 10 dams, long lakes, and rugged terrain stand in the way. This is a special river to me as my 7th great grandfather settled on these banks before the founding of this country. Today we start early and roll into Franklinville for a much appreciated biscuit. A few portages later, we are finally standing on the land of my forefathers. Looking to make some afternoon miles, we paddle past Coleridge and find ourselves searching for a campsite...Come along as we paddle our way down this river taking in the beautiful scenery!

Another great episode I envy you folks
Thanks Tony!
I love the connection that you were able to make with your ancestors... that is really cool. To paddle the river that your great... grandfather stood by long ago... amazing story.. #PadddleOn
Thanks Hans! It is such a cool piece of history for us. I feel super blessed to live so close to this area and to know about the history. So much seem to just get lost to time
Breath taking video, I imagine your heart felt very fond of this place for a long time so happy you got to share a piece of your family history with all of us.
For sure CG! Thanks!

Your cinematography has come a long way. Gorgeous shots!
Thanks a ton IE Tiger!
Wonderful video. You inspire me to get outdoors and see how good I can capture the experience. Pete your laugh is contagious to me. Keep the good times floating ~~
thanks siliilith! Will do!
Can’t wait for another epic adventure 💦💦💦💦
Right on Bobby!!
I wonder if I've ever seen anything that really captures the meaning of what it means to adventure in life and kayaking on a river with friends better than some of the things you say in your narration and through your production. You've got a skill in movie making, Sir. You're doing a service to the sport and outdoor life in general. My buddy is about to start kayaking and I tell him "watch River Kings" because I know it will help to get him hooked. And once you're hooked, the river takes care of the rest.
That is an awesome vote of encouragement Ian!! I really appreciate that! I love to hear when the videos connect and, even better, when someone is inspired to get out there and enjoy the river!! Thanks a ton!!!
Looking forward to this one!
thanks O&B!
Come do the Buffalo River. First National River and established protection for the few free flowing rivers we have left. Loved the vid, Pete. Canoe or kayak camping is my favorite thing in the world. You’re a lucky man. 😃
It is on the list Scott!
Can’t wait for day 4! My favorite stretch of this river is 1) Cedar Falls to Franklinville and 2) Coleridge to High Falls! When the water is up, there is a very neat section of Bear Creek, from Robbins to where it joins the Deep. Reynolds Mill dam and the old mill is up creek not far from Deep River.
Right on Joe!
Hey Joe, in this same area there is Richland Creek near Coleridge. I’ve done 4 miles of this creek and it’s pretty good with water if you have a whitewater boat. I’ve done from Picketts Mill rd to Riverside Rd. I put pics on the Carolina canoe club page. I will probably explore more when we get rain as well as the spots you mentioned which I have not yet checked out but want to.
You are a river poet! 🛶
Thank you majawn!!
Hate that I missed the Premier! Just had family & church stuffs going on!
That mist at the sunrise was awesome! Reminds me of my video from Cades Cove.
I've been waiting on a paddle to get stuck in a tree! LOL!
Thanks Brad!
The thought, time and effort you put into your videos is fantastic. For reasons unknown to me, your videos help me to relax, and while I am a few behind, I know I have more to look forward to. From where you guys find the energy to do this is beyond me. Great choice of music too. Thank you!
Thanks a ton Gamemeh! Glad to have you along! Thanks for the kind words!
Now Pete I want to go an one of your extended adventures. I have been following your channel awhile and been leading my own adventures as well. Be nice to adventure with the riverkings
Right on Adam! Where do you live?
@@RiverKingsKayak Muscle Shoals, Alabama my good buddy. Not far at all from NC .
Those biscuits looked great. Enjoying watching this trip.
They were as good as I've ever had! Thanks Josh!
Would class Adventure !!👍👍😎
Thanks for sharing it with us !!
Awesome ❤
thanks Tyler!!
I surely love your videos and hope that one day I will get to paddle with the River Kings ., Your videos have inspired me to start looking for a white water river boat to add to my 10' perception and my 14 ' Carolina. I live in Ohio but have a brother in Charlotte... may go to the WW center next time I am down there. oh, and why would anyone dislike these videos... shame #paddleOn
Right on Hans! send me a message when you head this way!
Oh Pete! The mist dancing, sunshine sparkling on the water and "Don't Be Late"... goosebumps, Sir! :) Now off to watch the remainder of the video, thanks!!!
Thanks Brenda!! Was a special day!
Ramseur is pronounced Ram-seur like sewer lol. Also the section of river below US 64 bridge was impounded by the dam just above Brooklyn avenue bridge. The dam was blew out in 1998 to reconstruct that section but the owner fell sick and later passed away. My uncle used to take his speed boat just below 64 bridge and ski on his feet lol
Love it!!
👋😎👍
Hey Pete. Is that your band doing the intro song Don’t be late? Haha.
LOL! I love it Dave!
Grew up in Ramseur. Named for a confederate general. Pronounced Ram(sewer). As we said, there's no sewer like Ramseur.
Thanks John! I have been saying it wrong my whole life! I will never forget it now!
Definitely one of my favorite videos from you and youtube kayaking in general. Excellent work editing on this one music and all, especially the opening, epic day out for sure.
Thanks a ton Terry! It was one of my favorites to make as well! Please share it! On these trip series, it seems they get less and less views with each episode...LOL. We always joke that the videos we put more into making, the less folks watch! LOL. Obviously, it was a special day for me and a great day for the team. Such an awesome little river hiding in the backyard!
Absolutely love your videos man, loads of love from over here in the UK.
Can I ask a question as I value your opinion. If you could make a video on the boats would be so good too.
What are your thoughts on the perception expression series? I have the 11 which I think is fantastic, but I am looking for a multi day kayak and thinking of the matching perception expression 15?
Im 6ft, 13 stone average build.
If you have the time to give me your opinion or even a review I would be blown away. Happy paddles and keep up the great videos.
I have never paddled or gotten my hands on the expression, but looks like it would do the job. A Dagger Stratos 14.5 would be my recommendation. I do have a video on the boats I use...

@@RiverKingsKayak Yes I have seen this :D it is quite hard for me to pick this one up. I have been tossing the stratos up with the expression. why would you take that one over the expression?
😝👍✌️
if you are talking about Ramseur it is pronounced Ram then Seur which is pronounced like Sewer with out the er .. you almost say the er in sewer but stop a hair short of saying it.
Right on Mack!
I say Potato you say Pototo!
You say Tomato I say Tomoto.
