BTG and Tony are a match made in heaven, loved every ep so far, have been listening using the podcasts on iTunes, keen for the hour long special after the Geneva auto show!
If you want to head somewhere special, Bagnères-de-Luchon. Slightly out of your way but a very respectable spa town with some of the Pyrenees's most iconic climbs. In a car, heaven.
Sam, I noticed you have power folding mirrors. I would advice turning it off for cold weather as they might freeze up and break next time you try to open them .
I am more a fan of the Miami Blue.. but yes, it does look good in green as well! It is generally a gorgeously looking car.. probably the best looking car Porsche has at the moment in my opinion.
You're making me fall in love with the 718 Cayman all over again! I can't wait for the Wednesday vlog on the twisty roads! This car is gonna be so good there.
You need to plan a Nurburgring trip in sometime this year in the 718. I have a feeling it’s the perfect car for the cruise down, quick smash round the ring and maybe catch the Frankfurt motor show and head home 👌🏼
When I first discovered this channel I was slightly annoyed by it, but stuck around for the cool cars. Now it's probably my favorite channel on youtube. Fantastic work...keep it up!
I second the comment on the quality. I have to say though that I prefer the 10 minute format. Everyone seems to do 20 minutes now or even more and I find this just too much most of the time. I rarely watch Shmee‘s videos for example, although I like him and the content. But he always seems to go on forever. I‘d much rather have a spot on, 10 minutes video than watching someone going back and forth about the same things for 20 minutes.
Sam, great video, that Cayman will never sound like a NA car and now you car the 360 the sound will always disappoint you, I just bought a M2 manual and that sounds good with M Performance exhaust but not like my 458😉
Definitely needs an exhaust to rid of the 5hp ride on mower sound. How Porsche let this out I don’t know, recently had a Boxster S for a month as a courtesy car and couldn’t get past the poor sound. Great video Sam as always. Thank you 🙌
yeah that mountain pass is awesome, but not around 9h or 17h because those are the hours that opens and closes the ski resort and there is a lot of traffic
Henry Catchpole just did a Video for Carfection in a Cayman GTS on an amazing road on the boarder of France and Spain. You should give it a watch/drive.
For those wondering, the bridge is the viaduc de Garabit, in the middle of the southern part of France. It was made by Gustave Eiffel (the guy that made the Eiffel tower) and was opened in 1885 :)
I really like the new gayman 718 and the turbo button, but a few years ago i wanted a 981s, i didn't jump but I've noticed the residue value of 981's are still commanding similar money 4 years on £45k. Another thing worth mentioning was the 981 with IPE exhaust, sounds absolutely amazing. Wonder what You & Tony think about the 981 and it's future deprecation ?
Consider some of the US exhausts, like Billy Boat or Borla. There is no getting around the fact a turbocharged 4 cyl is not going to sound good without a lot of help. The BB or Borla will give it a low end growl.
it does not matter what your video is about i ALWAYS watch it. It is just always premium quality without a garage worth of millions. You are the best car youtube around! the ones with more subs only got them because they have more money. I love guys like salomondrin and shmee but their content quality is not the same as yours. Atho salomondrins does get close with that gigantic team of his but still there is something missing there.
The bridge you showed at the beginning was designed by Gustave Eiffel (the one who designed the Eiffel tower for those who don't know) 😉 Yes the weather is pretty cold right now in France! Coldest week of the decade almost lol Cool video, keep it up!
I can completely understand the difficulties of building a bespoke exhaust system for the 718 due to it being a flat 4. Not saying flat fours sounds bad, no no i love the rumbling noises it makes. But i think the flat 6 is a crucial part of what makes a Porsche a Porsche. (edit) I know the emissions are what forced Porsche to make more "economical" cars but i would rather buy the 981 Boxter/Cayman any day over the 718.
Sam, if you want twisty roads, try and go to ‘Siurana’ - the roads around there are amazing! Probably some of the best I’ve ever been on with my Golf R ;-)
Great vlog as always Sam. Was curious when you mentioned 32 mpg. My Cayman 981 2.7 would see 37 mpg on a motorway run of around 80 miles or so. Maybe something for the future. Discussion on BTG or a road trip comparison. Love your car in the wrap but I’m sticking to the flat 6. Oh yes 👍 Keep up the good work mate.
Very nice car Sam. How come you don´t use the satellite navigation installed in the Porsche,, instead of your mobile phone? Isguess the satellite navigation in the Porsche should be up to date - am I wrong?
Make your mind up Sam. One day (on the last Behind The Glass podcast) you talk about wanting your daily to be more discrete and subtle because you don't always want to be shouting "hey I'm a youtuber look at me", and now a couple of days later you want the opposite again.
Just to clarify. I said that I’m thinking about getting an understand company car to cruise around in when I don’t want to be in the Porsche or Ferrari. But when I am in the Porsche or Ferrari, I want them to be loud and mega. Haha. I’m a walking contradiction I know but go with it
I must be the only person in the entire world that actually likes the sound of this car's stock engine/exhaust. It's actually become quite annoying hearing everyone on the internet constantly crying about it. The Cayman GTS is the total package as far as I'm concerned.
Hi Sam, love your videos and your style of content, shame porsche has gone down the 4 pot route claiming improved economy, having recently done a v similar road trip in the last gen cayman with the flat 6 we also achieved a combined 32 mpg
Another great video! So glad i found this channel by chance when you had the Jaguar. What’s the music used in this video called?? Especially at the beginning! Just seeing the link to epidemic sound
venom5809 It's not that bad when moving slow tbh it's passable until you start to push it, then it becomes insufferable. 😂 This engine was a clear failure in terms of audio dynamic.
I know it’s one if the stages of UA-cam but I wouldn’t bother with the exhaust. You can’t make that engine sound better. The only thing they will be able to do is make it louder not better.
Great video Sam. Love the road trip stuff, especially as a Brit who now lives in Australia. Forgot how damned easy it was to just drive anywhere is Europe!. How many miles has the Cayman racked up to date?
I'm planning a big road trip for next year, Glasgow to the south of France over to Italy up to Germany into the Netherlands and back. Any tips for when I'm driving in these countries?
Oh yeah definitely. Dark green is a classic British racing colour so it's nice to see it on such a great car. Shame about some of Sam's peers on UA-cam and their choice of wraps...
After driving throughFrance, would you say that you really had a comfortable ride? What about the Noise in terms of wind noises, tyre noises...PS: great video:)
Have a listen to IPE F1 Innotech exhaust... there's a you tube vid... makes flat 4 sound lovely... best I've heard... and I listened to loads before I put a Remus on my 10 year old 987. The garage who fitted it are also an approved Akrapovic seller but they couldn't believe the difference the Remus made (flat 6 not a flat 4 I know)...
Unfortunately, Sam, as tuners have found out, the 718's sound just can't be improved. It's going to sound like a washing machine full of nails and putting an exhaust on won't help that. Should have gone with the Alpine. 😉
Love it, nicking some of James' music I see 😂😂 Looking forward to see what happens with the exhaust. Personally I think it sounds a bit gushy but I'm no Paul Wallace!
You're so underrated. Deserve more followers. Love your style, vlogs and podcasts
BTG and Tony are a match made in heaven, loved every ep so far, have been listening using the podcasts on iTunes, keen for the hour long special after the Geneva auto show!
James Kay I hope to see their relationship develop into something more serious, and they become lovers.
SRM Solar radiation management Geoengineering 😂
STG is really watchable. Been following him since the Alfa 4c and have enjoyed watching the channel progress
Love all of your videos. You have done so well keep up the good work Sam
Really love theese road trip videos! Keep up the good work sam :)
The quality of your video is just getting better and better now
Great intro, as always Sam.
Thanks!
You have the perfect colour for that Porsche.
I am more a fan of the Miami Blue.. but yes, it does look good in green as well! It is generally a gorgeously looking car.. probably the best looking car Porsche has at the moment in my opinion.
Hate the colour.. Pea and Ham soup.
I miss your quicksilver exhaust on the f-type
Don’t we all :(
The 718 Cayman S ist the best car for such a roadtrip 😍🔥👍
You're making me fall in love with the 718 Cayman all over again! I can't wait for the Wednesday vlog on the twisty roads! This car is gonna be so good there.
Your Porsche😫😍 Seems like the perfect daily!!!!!!
Jealous of your roadtrips! Looks amazing and hope you have lots of fun
One of not many you tubers where 10 minuets just isn’t enough 😭
Very kind
I second the comment on the quality. I have to say though that I prefer the 10 minute format. Everyone seems to do 20 minutes now or even more and I find this just too much most of the time. I rarely watch Shmee‘s videos for example, although I like him and the content. But he always seems to go on forever. Been loving the podcasts and the videos on this channel lately. I'm a fellow F1 nut and I can't wait for your forthcoming videos!
That's the Garabit Viaduct, designed by Gustave Eiffel! (he also designed a tower in Paris)
Your travel videos like this are the most interesting, Shmuel.
Sam I will tell you where you are, the bridge is Viaduc de Garabit, very Wise to take the free motorway. safe journey
Ha been to that service station! Great video as always, and love the Cayman!
The one that looks like stone henge? Ha
You need a million subs bro salomondrin speaks highly of you a lot!
Sam, great video, that Cayman will never sound like a NA car and now you car the 360 the sound will always disappoint you, I just bought a M2 manual and that sounds good with M Performance exhaust but not like my 458😉
The bridge at 0.43 is the « viaduc de Garabit »
Definitely needs an exhaust to rid of the 5hp ride on mower sound. How Porsche let this out I don’t know, recently had a Boxster S for a month as a courtesy car and couldn’t get past the poor sound. Great video Sam as always. Thank you 🙌
Just have a look at the road in the last Carfection video!
yeah that mountain pass is awesome, but not around 9h or 17h because those are the hours that opens and closes the ski resort and there is a lot of traffic
Thanks for the advice!:)
I saw that last night! However it’s currently covered in snow
Oh. Too bad! Next time in the Ferrari 360;P
Arrond the barcelona city and near towns and villages are also good roads, I'm sure you'll find something good. Take google maps and search!!
SO jealous! What a hook up! ENJOY! I went to my first grand prix last year, hoping to return this year if I can make it work!
for a motorway roadtrip thats an eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepic video!
The stock 718 exhaust still sounds better than my stock S4 exhaust
Me encanta la buena onda que le ponés a los videos, seguí así 💪
Henry Catchpole just did a Video for Carfection in a Cayman GTS on an amazing road on the boarder of France and Spain. You should give it a watch/drive.
Yes. Watched it already. Looks amazing but I’m worried it’ll be covered in snow tomorrow
Seen Through Glass Good point. I think these places are pretty good at clearing the roads.
In Finland we are averaging at -20 degrees Celsius! You're welcome @Seenthroughglass
I look forward to the new exhaust, I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
Best car vlogger on the Tube, find myself checking in daily to see progress with that Cayman S. You are the Mark Crossfield of cars :)
For those wondering, the bridge is the viaduc de Garabit, in the middle of the southern part of France. It was made by Gustave Eiffel (the guy that made the Eiffel tower) and was opened in 1885 :)
Love the podcasts and the vlogs as always
It is actually snowing right now in Barcelona!!
I am really getting the road trip feeling right now! Such a cool video!🏎🔥🔥
Sam - check out the "Port de la Bonaigua" - epic driving road in the Pyrenees near Barcelona
I really like the new gayman 718 and the turbo button, but a few years ago i wanted a 981s, i didn't jump but I've noticed the residue value of 981's are still commanding similar money 4 years on £45k. You should go for an IPE or Fi exhaust!
As GAD tuning specialists found out, no exhaust can save this car's sound I'm afraid.
Maybe put a sewing machine in the back just to beef up the sound a little? Shame. Great car but the sound 6:42 is just non-existent. Sorry.
Being a 4 cylinder turbo I think it's impossible to make it sound good no matter what you did to it.
I think the AWE Track Exhaust for the 718 sounds pretty crazy. Look it up on UA-cam
Bud Chronic There are plenty of 4 cylinders that sound good. But the type of sound just doesn't fit a porsche.
The bridge you showed at the beginning was designed by Gustave Eiffel (the one who designed the Eiffel tower for those who don't know) 😉

I got some Jon Olsson vibe in that intro. Great work sam!
Sam, if you want twisty roads, try and go to ‘Siurana’ - the roads around there are amazing! Probably some of the best I’ve ever been on with my Golf R ;-)
STG & BTG 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great vlog as always Sam.
Was curious when you mentioned 32 mpg.
My Cayman 981 2.7 would see 37 mpg on a motorway run of around 80 miles or so.
Maybe something for the future. Discussion on BTG or a road trip comparison.

That sounded like Mario arriving in Spain ha ha
really enjoying the podcasts
Awesome guy, awesome channel!!
Very nice car Sam. How come you don´t use the satellite navigation installed in the Porsche,, instead of your mobile phone? Isguess the satellite navigation in the Porsche should be up to date - am I wrong?
My own 718 GTS is due in June, so really interested in your whole 718 experience, especially re the exhaust
I’m sure you’ll love it. Car is fantastic just lacking in a little tone from the exhaust
Seen Through Glass - understand Porsche have tinkered with tone in GTS so will just have to see. Keep up the great show Sam
that "red bridge" is for trains, and is called "Viaduc de Garabit". made by Gustave Eiffel (yes, from the Eiffel tower) :-)
That's a nice Subaru STI you have there ;)
Any chance you'll be getting your podcast on Spotify any time soon? Would love to listen on that platform!
Hopefully. I’ve submitted the application
Make your mind up Sam. One day (on the last Behind The Glass podcast) you talk about wanting your daily to be more discrete and subtle because you don't always want to be shouting "hey I'm a youtuber look at me", and now a couple of days later you want the opposite again.

Go to Full gas garage in BCN for a good custom exhaust
the bridge from the beggining is The Garabit Viaduct :)
Made by G. Eiffel, same guy from Eiffel Tower :)
I must be the only person in the entire world that actually likes the sound of this car's stock engine/exhaust. It's actually become quite annoying hearing everyone on the internet constantly crying about it. The Cayman GTS is the total package as far as I'm concerned.
Saw your car in Bermondsey couple days ago
Stock exhaust sounds great! You'll be fine without a custom
Get another V8 Jaaaaag :) That will fix the sound issues lol
Cooooorrect Sir.
Hi Sam, love your videos and your style of content, shame porsche has gone down the 4 pot route claiming improved economy, having recently done a v similar road trip in the last gen cayman with the flat 6 we also achieved a combined 32 mpg
Always great to see your work. It is amazing the passion that you show on all of your videos. Continue with the amazing work ;)
I just love your Spanish accent
Another great video! So glad i found this channel by chance when you had the Jaguar. What’s the music used in this video called?? Especially at the beginning! Just seeing the link to epidemic sound
*Soul Performance Products Exhaust. Don't sleep on them, you heard it here first! My car sounds like a 3RS because of them!*
I have been waiting for this video! But it is not what I expected hahah
PS amazing intro song
Hahaha that dodgy Italian accent when you arrived in Spain! Awesome vid as always Sam! 👌
thats the bridge thats in the film 'the cassandra crossing' if i remember correctly
Hmmm.. familiar roads!!! Now lets look for that green cayman this week around the area!;)
Basically they tried to make a four cylinder sound good and couldn’t do it. I foresee the Cayman being sold real soon.
venom5809 It's not that bad when moving slow tbh it's passable until you start to push it, then it becomes insufferable. 😂
This engine was a clear failure in terms of audio dynamic.
podcasts great!

Any chance of a bespoke exhaust system on the 360? Maybe that car deserves it
I’ve thought about it but still really want an OEM ferrari one if I can
Seen Through Glass Aah authenticity makes sense too.
Grazie mr sam excellent as ever ciao ciao
Good sound.
It's now colder in Europe than on the North Pole!
Great video Sam. Love the road trip stuff, especially as a Brit who now lives in Australia. Forgot how damned easy it was to just drive anywhere is Europe!. How many miles has the Cayman racked up to date?
In lecture, gets update, immediately disregard lecture: Go STG!
I'm planning a big road trip for next year, Glasgow to the south of France over to Italy up to Germany into the Netherlands and back. Any tips for when I'm driving in these countries?
Very nice car that. Never really looked at Porsche before but I love that one. Great vid Sam, as always.
Oliver King and it looks pretty with the green wrap!
Oh yeah definitely. Dark green is a classic British racing colour so it's nice to see it on such a great car. Shame about some of Sam's peers on UA-cam and their choice of wraps...
Oliver King yup... Archie Hamilton cough, cough...
Don't even...
Oli King unfortunately the sound makes it a hot miss for me, truly a shame.
Sam your videos are superb. And behind the glass with tony you 2 are like a comedy duo. 👍
1 quick question. What phone mount do u use?
After driving throughFrance, would you say that you really had a comfortable ride? What about the Noise in terms of wind noises, tyre noises...PS: great video:)
Exhaust is still missing 2 firings for each rev! 6 will always sound better.
Euro Cup GT system should be first on your list.
Is there anyone who could name that tune commencing from 7m:01s? Much appreciated. Sam excellent content as always, thank you
Unfortunately, Sam, as tuners have found out, the 718's sound just can't be improved. It's going to sound like a washing machine full of nails and putting an exhaust on won't help that. Should have gone with the Alpine. 😉
*just take out the resonator and your good mate !* hahaha safe trip Sam
drone
MrLalasd You can get plenty anti drone sleeved res deletes.
Been looking at exhaust for 718 Boxster but not finding anything better than stock so far.
Sam make your podcasts available on spotify as well, anyways been loving your videos lately!
at the start of the video i actually thought you'd fitted the exhaust
My good car enthusiast what are our thoughts on what looks to be the new 718 cayman gt4?
Very very exciting. But 2019 I believe
Love it, nicking some of James' music I see 😂😂 Looking forward to see what happens with the exhaust. Personally I think it sounds a bit gushy but I'm no Paul Wallace!
Sam, good luck with wednesday!!! The weather here in Barcelona is predicted to be snowing, so....
