Far better show with Marshall. Time to replace JK or Goldie.
Goldie! J.K adds color
Bad enough people have to listen to Marshy commentate now on a panel? No thanks
@@DannyBrah272 that's true 😆
Didn't Marshall want to remove penalty advantage in his commentary this weekend? He can stay in the trash with JK and his yes boy.
I dont mind goldie so much jk. Is not for me tho just politics n stuff.
Good that JK and Goldie were not there this week.
agree, their game of oneupmanship is old hat
Totally agree . Marshall is open-minded and knows this beautiful match .
What did Marshall do and why was he exiled and why is he back? I like him btw
For me, no questioning Fitzy's skill set, but I am of the position that Hika Reid demonstrated this style of play before Fitzy but we were so caught in a traditionalist view of players and positions with him being called a seagull, too loose, hangs on the wing avoiding contact or scrummaging, etc. Hika's judgements were highly accurate of when to commit, when not too commit, he was strong in the scrum, liked scrummaging, and getting physical, had back and forward passing skills, and ran like a back with the ball in hand in the open.
From a WP supporter, it pains me to point out that Bakkies has to be right up there. He is one of the Galactico's. Success in the South & North. I would swap him with Eben (will review when Eben retires)
RWC- 1Title
Super Rugby - 3 Titles
Heineken Cup - 3 Titles
Domestic titles in RSA & France - 6
B&I Lions + Tri Nations - 3
Got the 7s. Its still rugby n great for nz. Cheers to both sides' just awesome thanx!
7 super rugby titles
Won 2 worldcups, played in 4
153caps..most capped ever allblack....... This shouldnt even be a discussion.
Ok team titles
Yes and?
Roigard is our next superstar. It was a mistake not to play him in the World Cup final.
Southern hemisphere rugby is in dire straits. If anyone thinks the chiefs thrashing an island team is good value had better think again. Also, look at how league is presented for public participation - it is fantastic right down to the commentary. Still the rugby union trots out Sweet Caroline and a couple of skyrockets and thinks that is good enough to draw crowds. Grassroots rugby is dying faster than they want to admit but we have to worry about inclusivity on the board.
seeing stands empty is very disturbing it feels like a covid lockdown. Pricing, and gimics to get interest. Having kids under certain age free entry be good for future
And what relevance is all that to the video discussing Sam Whitelock? Do you feel better for your rant?
Can't be dying that badly. Top 2 nations at the world cup...😊
@@jeremyviall4168 it’s South Africans wishful thinking
Rugby has become a modern media consumer product. When you see empty stands this is an inevitable outcome. Trace the problem back to its roots and you find the League-like model of Super Rugby franchise clubs sitting uncomfortably with a regional structure for involving the grassroots and developing players through the grades. Super Rugby was birthed as an answer to professionalism after ‘95 and in response to the massive upswing of popularity for the Australian NRL from the late 80s onwards (because of the introduction of independent sports coverage with Sky). Local bums on seats remain regional in loyalty. That’s why the Crusaders and Chiefs have been more locally supported; neither are keyed to a city as strongly as a regional identity when marketing. On the other side you have the fair weather support of Blues fans and empty stadia. In more recent times all franchises have stripped other regions of talent and players have embraced a more mercenary professional attitude. It’s a corporate business model and it attracts a corporate level fan base. They passively watch online, buy the merchandise, but seldom get involved directly on the level of “ladies-a-plate”. The player “pathway” they all talk about is totally dependent upon local, regional community support: something the Super franchises mine but don’t have a primary commitment to. The basic contradiction is an itch we will continue to scratch.
Wow this is rather mauve when they all agree with each other. It’s all rather nice.
I don't mind JK and Goldie disagreeing. Would hate to experience group think on the show. However, its the way JK disagrees. He tends not to build on the ideas and agree in part just wholesale disagrees and stops the flow of the conversation.
Guys Australia is on the comp and Brumbies vs Waratas is a durby
He was certainly great but tough competition. Eben, martin johnson, bakkies. And a few more.
Er...Martin Johnson anyone?
Martin Johnson was an awesome coach.
😂😂😂😂😂
Oh boy. This is sad. "We have the bestest lock in the world forever!"
None of them have Martin Johnson in there?
My game changer: Ma'a Nonu
Beauden would be the closest to them if robertson believe in him to start at 10.
I hope they dont put him at 15 anymore.
Either start as 10 or sub in as 10.
I like tj' just cos he can c stuff young guy cant. An no pressure on em so much now.
Here lads, April Fools day was nearly two weeks ago 😂
I do understand the need for NZ teams to play running rugby…
BUT the reason you see so many tries and breaks is because mostly average and sub average defenses… really few great defensive moments in super rugby… it’s all about tries and tries and tries…
Thursday night rugby. Monday night rugby. Super Sunday Rugby.
Maybe in NZ. Even that is a stretch...
Hurricanes Vs FijianDrua SemiFinal 2024!
Can’t understand why they ask about the schedule, when you’re not filling stadiums? There is no atmosphere at super rugby games. Why don’t you move to smaller venues where more families and rugby clubs can get to matches, fill the stands and let the crowd get into the game. The skill is great but there is no atmosphere and that makes for boring sport. Even my gf who isn’t a sport fan in general said it was weird that the stands are so empty. I get it, tickets aren’t cheap, that nzru problem. Smaller venues, less tickets to sell, more bums in seats, more interest in rugby, more kids get exposed to professional sport and athletes. Look at Fiji as an example. They play on what looks like a high school field, not an open seat, no where to stand, kids everywhere, families camped out.
Also thank god for marshy bc Goldie and jk are awful and would have pandered endlessly
Greatest lock of all time -- Victor Matfield.
Brody far better
it's tough, there's really 6 or 7 who have a legitimate case as best lock ever
Now here's a guy i can listen to all day, keep going Justin.
well i got my laugh of the week offering the aupiki as an alternative watch😂😂
TJ experience is good off the bench, but not a starter for ABs
So what? Start Finlay? No thanks
To say Whitelock is best lock of all time is a massive reach. He is not in the category of the likes of Eben Etzebeth. Whitelock is definitely one of the best.
why does there have to be a best lock, or at any position? To pick a "GOAT", denigrates all the rest.
All blacks needs south Africa to improve 😂😂😂
The woman's game has been a financial and political liability to the NZRFU. How much better would the national team be if they got to utilize all the revenue they generate
Agree 100% it's sexist the mens game must fund the girls game
What % of revenue is being directed towards developing the women’s game?
Expansion killed the game. It's not the solution.
Yes he is!!
Great show without the two clowns.
"Is Sam Whitelock the GREATEST lock of all time? | The Breakdown"
*no*
No is the answer
No
I think you will find that Alun Wyn-Jones for Wales is probably the greatest lock of all time, soz to rain on your parade back home in NZ, but to me, Alun Wyn-Jones is the greatest lock of all time.
To be honest... better show without Goldie and the Jk.
Nah
Nah Gary whetton 1
Ian Jones 2
Sam 3
Alan Whetton was a loose forward. His brother Gary was a lock.
@@user-vp3vs6ey3r True Gary was the lock Alan was the flanker
Yer one team a week get the rest. Reckon better for fans an the comp. Restin 4 what?
Not even the best in NZ. Retallick, Meads...And this doesn't even consider great like Martin Johnson, Frik du Preez, Eben Etzebeth, Alun Wyn Jones..There are many greats. He wa a great player, but not anywhere near the best . Stopped watching this programme. Kiwan et al just awful. I must say the new team is so much better. Marshall particularly good.
Rugby boring to watch, to many stops. League is where its at. UP THE WAHS BABY
Retallick No1 Sam No2
No:1 lock pair they complement one another
@@Myke... pretty sure the topic was the greatest lock (singular)... maybe email them and ask them to do locking pair next week
@@itistrue101 As a Chiefs fan, I'd have to disagree but you can have your opinion. What makes Sam Whitelock better. He captained the Saders since 2017..and they were bulldozing their way through Super winning titles in his reign.
@@worldrugby12 Big deal... its not as if the Crusaders were ever really poor and he turned them around with his captaincy. Sammy has been a great player, but he's number 2
@@itistrue101 its not like the Chiefs didnt have chances to win titles within that time either, so yeah its a big deal because "Sammy" was a big reason behind us not winning. Sam is No.1 Bro, give the man his respect.
Sam Whitelock the greatest lock of all time . What a joke …..not even the best ever from this little island .
Stfu the only joke I see is you 🤡 Whitlock probably has the highest winning percentage in his career than any other lock in history. He played for the All blacks so enough said.
Sam who?
Good the 2 old women werent on this week

John Eales 🇦🇺 🏆🏆
Whitelock 🇳🇿 🏆🏆
Etzebeth 🇿🇦 🏆🏆
Retallick 🇳🇿 🏆
AWJ 🏴
I would prob have a similar order to list with Viktor Matfield above them all. I might not put Whitelock that high, very good early career and very good late career but a passage through the middle of poor form and work rate riding on the coat tails of his early career form.
@axxey do you have stats and proof of this poor form? The man played in 4 W.C's, *won 2* and has NZL's highest amount of Tests played as a All Black at *153..* The Man's a *Legend*

Whitelock

Andy Haden

No one was better than Pinetree.
@chasey2327 Meads at 6 ft 3? 😆😆 same height as Reiko and shorter than Jordy at 6 ft 5 😆😆
Meads is the same height as M Ali - the greatest! Comparing Jordie and Reiko to Pinetree😅😅😅 Like comparing granite with cheddar cheese. 6'3" was huge back then !
@roalddahl1623 we all get that Champ and understand 6ft 3 was huge *"back then"* but dont let your emotions get in the way of *"common sense"* ain't no way Pine Tree out jumping 6 ft 8 Retallick, Etzebeth, or 6 ft 7 Matfield n John Eales just to name few. Also did you know he's played *No 6?* for King Country?
Clearly you don't get it Champ! Meads didn't have lifters and played 80 mins with no replacements even for injuries. People are bigger now etc but Ali is still the Greatest boxer pound for pound, like Pinetree. Meads thought Andy Haden was a soft c... k and by comparison he was right.
Maybe in NZ. Even that is a stretch....
