I wish it was okay for games to be like 8-14 hours again. The reason why game development takes so dang long now is they're almost always 30+ hours now. That said Senuas Saga: Hellblade II took a while and was only about 6 hours long. I don't know for sure why that was but I imagine partly because the tracks were being laid as the train was moving, UE5 being so unfinished for most of development.
Maybe I'm off base though, maybe their fundamentals really take so long that they make the game longer in the meantime. I have to imagine asset production and designing the levels just take largest chunk of time, which would both be reduced with shorter games. Generally. I really don't see an issue, especially if Lost Legacy and Miles Morales are good examples, they could be $40-$50 too. More room for iteration, less risk. People don't have to go through all of Highschool before a sequel comes out. Doesn't need to be every game but maybe it could relieve the tumultuous state that the games industry is in.

While I find the announcements exciting and believe it was a great presentation from Xbox, I don't share the same level of enthusiasm as most. I'm not a fan of these heavily edited presentations where they mix cinematics with what is supposed to be gameplay. I prefer more straightforward gameplay presentations where we can clearly appreciate the actual game. Only the South of Midnight presentation came even briefly close to this.
I like how Indy seems to be leaning away from hyper-realistic animation, and emphasizes the locked 60fps “gameness” that Capcom and Konami have captured so well in the past with (e.g.) RE7 and MGSV. It helps Indy avoid the uncanny valley, as there’s enough detail/information to convey the stories and emotional beats, but your brain immediately registers it as a game and not a movie. That said, based on the latest cinematic reveal, this is easily the closest we’ve come to translating the original Indy trilogy to gaming, and I’m here for it!
Black Ops 6 genuinely seems promising, but the best trailers / announcements for me were Age of Mythology Retold and Gears of War E-Day. So glad that Retold wasn't cancelled, and Gears of War is back (with the full title). Perfect Mirror: WatchDark Edge also looks appealing 😉
As someone who has been very critical of Xbox(not without reason), its a relief to see them knocking out if the ballpark. Kudos! This feels like a 'return to form,' the competitive Xbox from a couple generations ago. I'm not yet sold on their business model(which is still somewhat dubious, to be honest), but as long as they can make great games and get them out more consistently, they should remain relevant for quite sometime. They're not out of the woods yet, but this is a VERY positive development. Sony, your move!
I'd rate the show a 7/10 at best because doom was the only game that showed actual gameplay. The others didn't or tried to hide their cards by showing super generic traversal without much interaction. Skillup breaks it down pretty good on his channel.

@MrWinnfield because we're finally seeing games leveraging technology that's only available on current consoles, and not last Gen. I have to assume none of these games will really be on previous gen consoles at all.
I would argue that much of this is not this generation. No launch dates or window tells me much of it is actually going to end up at the beginning of the next generation of hardware. Likely means no new Gears of War this generation. Perfect Dark not likely on the current hardware. If these games were far enough along to make this generation we would have seen more and certainly more gameplay. Partly because of issues at some of the studios and partly because they don't all have multiple teams working on different games. I think we are going to end up with Microsoft not releasing new games in their biggest franchises this generation. That has been their weakest flaw vs Sony. Sony has released titles in most of their big franchises the generation. For Xbox it's pretty much just been Halo and the Forza games. And much of the other games that have or will be released are not even going to be exclusive.

best xbox showcase is not saying a lot
That's not saying much xbot lol
I'm really hoping Doom moves away from the pinata drops and "puzzle shooting" gameplay. Back to the Boomer shooter roots please!
Yes, THE single best videogame showcase in recent gaming history 💯

Tbh Gears 5 in gsme cinematics look really really good so a current gen UE5 gears game will look a lot like this imo
The coalition already said that what we saw in the trailer is exactly what Gears Eday will look like all of it was in game engine footage.
@@TheKing8608_wrong. It was a pre-rendered CG trailer.
However, it was using in-game assets. So that's still impressive. But the graphics won't look exactly like the trailer, which makes sense.

I think this DooM is even closer to the 93/94 games. Because they have taken the route of slow projectiles with high damage. So we are back in dodging projectiles and circle strafe probably. So gameplay wise and not just design wise, we move even closer to OG DooM.
A lot of cool surprises in this show which made an already great show better with the little surprises her and there.
Dooms look was really cool.
South of Midnight- that gameplay was surprising
Mixtape a pleasant surprise
COD-never played and it looked good as well it actually peeked my interest I will try a cod game for the first time when this comes out. I even own other cod games never played them.
the Gears of war was really cool and the direction they are going in was pretty neat.
Then you have all the other games WOW!!!!!
The show was a homerun!
DF all rated it NEIN out of ten.
I don't get the comments - Rich was there the whole time?
You can clearly see his eyelids in the background.
Nah, there was plenty of gameplay shown.
actually very impressed he knew who super Hans was
So, it was just me who thought deus ex when i saw the perfect dark gameplay ....obviously plus parkour
If you're not biased, you'll give this showcase a 10/10. Easily the best gaming showcase since Sony's E3 2016.

Best Xbox Game Show they have done by far. Could be best ever also
Alex should really play Stalker CoP it's amazing
Or try gamma with some mods.
❤❤❤ Yes, what an amazing show 👏 let's go Xbox
I'd rate the show a 7/10 at best because doom was the only game that showed actual gameplay. The others didn't or tried to hide their cards by showing super generic traversal without much interaction. Skillup breaks it down pretty good on his channel.
I didn't realize that Expidition 33 game was a turn based RPG. I guess with the name I was expecting some sort of PS4 order 1886 style game. So happy to hear it's an RPG!
That Xbox showcase definitely dominated. Now it's time for them to deliver. I wish they didn't announce more of the same console. For Next-Gen I believe Xbox needs to stick to 1 console. No more of this half powered machine stuff.
There will be maybe a lower spec handheld or a cloud handheld
@@michalandrejmolnar3715 They could really knock it out of the park by tapping into the handheld market with a high spec handheld device. Sure there's plenty of them out now, but none from the big 3 which capture more of the mainstream market.
Have 1 dedicated console and 1 handheld that's high spec, but slightly lower than the console and act as a replacement of the Series S line. So it'll be their cheaper alternative.
@@imadubsfan1Nintendo has the handheld market sewn up. They always have. It's never been about power in that market. I would argue Nintendo has always had the most underpowered handheld and always outsold the competition 10/1.

Guys I love your work but please don't be defensive with your analysis, i.e. if it's critical or sharing your opinion don't qualify it, it's your channel and we are here for it. Ignore the whiners. Great work. Also I appreciate the comments about Indiana, I agree that it's not anywhere near Naughty Dog standards even from UC4 which is almost a decade old. I would still argue that many other studios (Insomniac, but maybe they're the anomaly) manage to give you that polish rapidly and without crunch culture. We shouldn't lower our standards, especially if this channel is analytical of the appearance of games. That's what most people expect from a game falling into the genre amd class of Indiana.
Idk if y’all saw this but they are actually including the ability to swap camera controls to the classic style in MGS3! They released a video showing it off
I don't get the all- digital series x. Why not a 2 or 3 TB SSD? Yet make a 2 TB Special Edition with sprinkles? The trash can comparision is crazy. Compares a first person Indiana Jones art style and graphics to a third person PS exclusive. I don't think the focus was on the cinematic engine but rather the feel and play in its first person mechanics. Good conversation about the XBOX showcase overall!

Spencer also made sure to remind everyone that xbox games arre buy once and play on pc or xbox etc etc which people forget about. Now that MS owns so many studios, this is great since cross saves mean you can play on your xbox and then continue where you left off on your ROG Ally or Legion GO. Works great for me.
I find it interesting how everyone seemingly forgot about Everwild. Haven't seen any major channels ask about it. It's like we've all collectively accepted it's not coming out whatsoever.

They have more to show. They also have a show at gamescom and will probably have something for vgas. Also there is always next year. They have 30+ studios. We only saw 15 ish first party in this show.
The worst part is Xbox introduced 3 new consoles and the only one with a disc drive is only available in "limited quantities" for $599. A ridiculously high price for the death of physical media.

Well spotted Alex, that was indeed Ferguson Furglefunk.
This showcase makes it feel like this gen is just beginning.
Freakin finally
About damn time
How?
