Great review!!❤. Just some tips as a former master cosmetologist, when apply any styling products especially creams and/or gels…your hair is to be soaking wet and not just damp which causes flakes. It’s not the products but it’s the application which is the biggest issues I have seen with lifestyle content creators with natural hair products…the key is water. You have beautiful thick hair which you should apply your styling products in the shower right after shampooing your hair without towel drying- the results using ANY product is night and day compared to damp and half dried hair.
This is so true ! I noticed it while doing my daughter’s hair with the gel that I use, when her hair is damp it flakes and when it’s soaking wet I don’t have any problem at all ! Thankyou for clarifying that I thought it was me lol 😅
I prefer damp over soaking wet hair. I feel it defines the curls so much better. Tabitha Brown products are amazing for this…nice juicy curls all the time😊
Hydrolyzed vegetable protein is a pretty popular hair care ingredient…It’s not as reparative as hydrolyzed keratin but most people don’t have a sensitivity to it. So love that!
It is popular and in most hair products. I know because I have tried products with it in the ingredients. Such as Briogeo, Ouidad, Shea Moisture, Carol's Daughter, Miss Jessie's, Aunt Jackie's, and The Mane Choice. Products with that in the ingredients never work for me. I have found a handful of brands that do not have it or other protein products that my hair loves.
Thank you for the honest review, and what an amazing unboxing! Rihanna and her team really went all out with the launch of the line, so many smart choices. Just a thought about the styling products: aren't both the cream and gel water-based? Maybe they would have worked better if you didn't add extra water to your hair first? It seemed like adding water sort of drowned out the product as you applied it. Anyhoo, thank you for the vid!
I was waiting for you to mention the FLAKES… I did my Fenty wash day earlier today. Love love love the shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner. BUT the styling products ARE NOT FOR ME. As soon as I put the jelly on top of the curling cream I had to stop and wash it out. I’m glad I only added that combo to a small section. The fact that those two products didn’t gel(lol) together really hurt my feelings. Still love the other products. I hope Rihanna makes more styling products for us type 4 girls. Great review!!!
I knew that it would flake because when you applied the curl cream to your hair I could see how it was sitting on top of your hair it wasn't getting absorbed. Then you applied the gel it made it worse. But it ok your review was honest and I appreciate that xoxo
Hey girl love your honest review! I found that the stylers work best on soaking wet hair…my style routine looks exactly like yours but with experimenting I found the stylers did their job on soaking wet hair like in the shower still soaking wet ❤❤
Curious question here :) What does the drying process look like for you then? Do you towel dry, air dry, diffuse, hooded dryer? All or some of the above? When it's soaking wet, I wonder what to do afterwards :)

But for the Fenty Hair in particular, for my wash n go where I air dried, I only diffuse if I need to depending upon on the plans for the day. Soon as I’m done using the products on soaking wet hair I’m weird I call it giving my hair a hug lol where I take my microfiber towel and scrunch the products into my hair while my hair is soaking up the water my towel is soaking up the excess water and then taking the cream and gel and smoothing back into my hair. Ooooor air dry some time and diffuse the remaining or vice versa lol it really all depends if I’m running errands or headed out to an event/gathering. If I have a gel cast just whip out my favorite oil (olaplex is my favorite right now if not olaplex then Coca Nibbs oil from Camille Rose).

Yeah, I did not order any of the stylers when I read the descriptions. I knew they would not work for me. But I’m excited for the shampoo conditioner treatment masks and heat protectant

My hair doesn’t do well with buttery like products but it thrives on gel like products and mousses !! I would definitely buy the shampoo and conditioner because of this video !! @@pabritova There’s another UA-camr who used the gel for a wash and go and she has 4C hair. She got definition but she pretty much used the whole jar and no curl cream; just gel on clean damp hair. It seems to be a light gel but she got great results.

The PR packaging is beautiful. I bought all the products and I'm lowkey annoyed because I doubt my box will be packed like that. Edit: I plan on using the curl defining cream for braidouts and twists. i use a leave-in and mousse for wash and go styling.

Great review. I really think her products are designed for use individually, not in unison. Try just the cream or just the gel, but a twist out seems to work best if looking for definition.
I'm Puerto Rican and Italian with type 3B-3C, VERY dry hair, and those products work wonderfully on my hair. My ex husband was African and our three daughters came out with very mixed curly hair types. These products work perfectly for the girl that has 3C-4A type BUT NOT on the other two that have drier 4B type and 4B-4C type. Very little product is needed to curl and define. Adding "more" won't make it better. You SHOULD NOT use too much of the gel or else it will flake worst than snow. In all fairness, its true that these products will work amazingly for "most" curly girls out there hence the "inclusion" BUT will NOT be as DEEPLY EFFECTIVE on coil, COOOOIL hairs. Fenty should split the formula, one dedicated alone for Type 3s hair, one for type 4s, and one for KINKS.

I think you should watch more than 1 video before making this decision. The products could be used for twist outs and other protective styles instead of wash and go’s. You would still benefit from the restorative properties of the products.
Good review and great feedback and constructive criticism. Maybe next time include specs (price point, how much product we are getting, try describing the smell & maybe another product it may remind you of to see what other products it may pair with best)
Your hair is lovely. It's interesting to see that the curl cream didn't work for you because I've seen creators with 'coarser' hair texture get good definition.
I feel like that defining cream is in regards into STYLING, it looks like you would get a defined braid out/twist out vs a wash and go.. i kind of wish you would've read the instructions/recommendations off of each bottle. A wash and go is typically really challenging to get right and ive always seen people either use alot of products, alot of water.or a particular method..so that's why ive never done a wash and go.. it's literally never been a wash and GO..it seems super time consuming... gel typically flakes also ... i feel like they work as expected tbh
update i went to a type 4 youtuber like 4b-4cish and she did a twistout with only the cream and it was super defined... so yeah its not for a wash and go lol... i also bet on a blow out it would probably come out bomb

Everyone’s hair is different and everyone can do what they want with their hair. As the pinned comment says, this will not be my last time using these products in the same way I did in this video.
Can you do a continued use review like how your hair feels/looks/ health of it after a 6-8 wks? It seems if this brand is claiming repair and we don’t see that with her natural hair we should be able to see it with customers
You need to do the gel and cream test before you mix it on your hair, could see it doesn't mix together. That causes the flaking. Been seeing the same feedback on the stylers from different reviews. Your hair is beautiful.

Where the difference of opinion seems to be is in the use of the gels & defining crème. I wonder if the additional water you added without the thorough detangling may have affected the curl definition?🤔 The defining creme and gel seems to work differently on different heads of hair. Even with people with similar hair types. You’re the first person I’ve seen with hair flaking. I’ve seen other users use the strong hair gel for wash & go with no issues. This definitely is a range for individuals to play with until they find a method that works for them. Thankyou for taking the time to do this video to give us your first impression. Will you do another trial & film it?
aww well fenty has a good return policy sooo people better use it ! i only got the gel tbh styler wise. then i realized it's for slick backs! sooo i might not keep it! lol i can't wait to try the deep conditioner and shampoo! i really like cecred hydrating shampoo and exfoliating shampoo!
I personally think these products are better used for protective styling. She emphasized that they are for restoration and repair, not curl definition. I think maybe next time use the same products but do mini twists or a low bun and see how your hair feels during the next wash.
First I will say, your hair is beautiful and super thick. Secondly it seems as if you didn't wet your hair enough nor put enough products in your hair. I believe it's nit to be used for a wash n go😊
It’s very interesting reading all of the reviews. I actually purchased the entire collection and have used it a few times. Personally, I do not like the smell. It reminds me of a product from the 90s but I can’t put my finger on it. The shampoos and conditioner are blah. Gives me … hotel shampoo/conditioner vibes. I like the edge gel. Leaves my edges soft yet slicked down. The only thing I might buy again is the edge gel and maybe the come back kid product. Honestly, I loveeeeeee her other product lines but this hair line is a miss for me.

The Homecurl was terrible in my 3b/c 4/a hair. My hair felt frizzy, dirty and weird. I like the conditioner and bond repair.

I personally think these products are better used for protective styling. She emphasized that they are for restoration and repair, not curl definition. I think maybe next time use the same products but do mini twists or a low bun and see how your hair feels during the next wash.
I think the gel may not be as strong because you used the cream

First I will say, your hair is beautiful and super thick. Secondly it seems as if you didn't wet your hair enough nor put enough products in your hair. I believe it's nit to be used for a wash n go😊

It’s very interesting reading all of the reviews. I actually purchased the entire collection and have used it a few times. Personally, I do not like the smell. It reminds me of a product from the 90s but I can’t put my finger on it. The shampoos and conditioner are blah. Gives me … hotel shampoo/conditioner vibes. I like the edge gel. Leaves my edges soft yet slicked down. The only thing I might buy again is the edge gel and maybe the come back kid product. Honestly, I loveeeeeee her other product lines but this hair line is a miss for me.
