The fallacy of Calvinism is totally evident. You cannot use it as an excuse to not fulfill Jesus' mission. 1 Corinthians 9:22. There is no place for Calvinistic Que sera sera in true Christianity. Do you realise just how terrifying the responsibility we share with the Lord when it comes to the lost. If you did you would be on Kristi Bourke's channel and those of many others by all means trying to share the truth about Jesus. You can't make others believe, but you can by all means try to persuade, try to demonstrate, to seek to bring them to Christ. Let's look at the rough statistics. ChatGPT estimates that Armenian Preachers ie Wsley, Finney, Graham are responsible for about 4-5 million conversions compared with a meagre 100,000 or so to Calvinists such as Whitefield, Edwards and Spurgeon. My case rests.

If not for Jesus convicting me to not be a hypocrite and to remain aware of my own need of forgiveness, my ego would have plunged me into a pit of bitterness. On some days though, like today, I’m on the edge of that pit. When it’s hard to appreciate my own luxuries like hot water and good health, I look to the beauty of God’s sunsets and bumblebees, but when my spirit is broken, listening to sober minded men like you is beauty in itself.

@@goosieschmoo8239 God is not weak, but please get the context. God chooses to allow people real choices and bear the consequences of them. He doesn't override the ability he has given us to choose. If God is limited it is because he chooses to limit himself. Look at Jesus. He didn't ride in on a white horse and make things right, but he could have. He could have driven out the Romans with the click of his fingers. That should tell you that it would be a profound mistake to think that God is weak or limited. I believe in the omnipotence of God, but how he chooses to exercise that omnipotence should tell you something about him as well. He takes into account much more than we feeble humans do. The calvinist and determinist understanding of God is too small. But also the armenian understanding of "free will" is likewise too small. We are left to look beyond the feeble scope of these human outlooks with their less than clear picture of the way things really are. Don't put God in a box. Calvinism is a box. Aremenianism is likewise a box. The truth about God lies beyond these boxes.

The moment I hear "God told me," , I tune out. God leads us through His Holy Spirit, and I trust a man who says that the Holy Spirit led them to a particular verse or Bible story over someone who says that God is speaking to them, period. We pray to the Father, through the Son, by the Holy Spirit within us. Jesse Duplantis had better stop the conversations he appears to have regularly, where God needs Jesse's advice, or he will wind up never hearing God's voice for all eternity!

Makes me think of the song from The Color Purple… “God is Trying to Tell You Something.” Didn’t see it as a mark against God’s ability to “Tell” but our success or failure to “listen.”

    The sad thing is
GOD should not have to try. We must believe that GOD didn't want this crazy violent sick world to be like this.
GOD has even sent true believers to try to help us understand who GOD is and why we need HIM. Thank you Mr. Peters. You are so interesting. I love your videos. I could listen to you all day. Bless you. Thank you.🙏

    This was a great conversation.
I have two concerns that I’m wondering if anyone could address:
    1) there was a subtle (or not so subtle) undertone of equating God’s Sovereignty with the Doctrines of Grace- when it comes to the issues of Definite Atonement and Total Depravity as understood and believed by Calvinists, how do you square that with God’s goodness? For if God predestines some men to salvation, by necessity it means that others are predestined to perdition (if we follow the logic of Calvin). Of what use then, is man’s responsibility for his sin?
    2) About Dr. Lawson: the first mention of him ( and most mentions I see online) in this video seemed to suggest that he was not a genuine believer because he was involved in sinful patterns. Is the suggestion that a professing Christian who is involved in affairs (for example) is NOT a genuine believer? If so, is that a personal belief or is that scriptural?

Through my illness this past 15 months, I believe God has shown me in His Word, I was in the wrong church. No one has loved me or been there for me. It has hurt my family. I thought they were my church family, but they proved they didn’t love me. The pastor loves to joke about the things of this world. He praised his congregation, which I’m no longer a part of like crazy a couple of weeks ago. My husband and daughter finally left for good. Now I have to get my son away from this church. Please pray for God to lead us to the right church. They are manipulating my son, who I’ve always been close to. He knows things aren’t good, but they try to make him feel important. They are divisive. It’s an SBC church. I wish I had never gone there. I say that, but it has taught me a lesson for sure.

    Good interview!
Appreciate the work Jim and Dave have done. Thank you for sharing it.
I have a question regarding two OT texts. Interested to see how you gentlemen might respond to these.
Isaiah 5:17. The prophet sings a song about his beloved (YHWH) and his beloved’s vineyard (Israel). YHWH is portrayed in song as complaining that he has done everything that could reasonably be expected for his vineyard and that he had expected to find it bearing fruit but it has not been fruitful. Though it is poetry, it nevertheless does portray YHWH as expecting certain things and being disappointed when things don’t go as planned.
Jesus’ parable in Luke 13:6-9 gives much the same idea of trying some things in hopes that they will work to produce a fruitful outcome.
Jeremiah 26:1-4 describes YHWH’s instructions to the prophet to take YHWH’s message directly to the people coming to the Temple in Jerusalem. He indicates a hope that “perhaps” the people when they hear they might turn.
(My theological views used to be Calvinist but haven’t been for some years now; just curious how you would deal with these scriptures that at least on some level seem to push back against your thesis that God doesn’t try things. )

The clear message of Scripture is that God offers salvation and blessings to people who reject them. How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Matthew 23.37. Yes, the Lord tried to gather them but they chose not to respond.

I assume the chapter on sanctification is more comprehensive but this has me concerned. I believe the qualifier was that "we're as sanctified as God wants us to be in the moment." So He would rather is not be more holy or obedient than we are right now? We've always become just as Christlike as we should be through every trial and temptation? I could use examples of my own life but you mentioned Steve Lawson. Lawson was exactly as sanctified as God desired? He wasn't "trying" to make him more holy over the last 5 years? Your answer would be "yes" to all of the above? Not sure why we would be commended to be holy if we're always as holy as God wants us to be.
