- The Chilean military ceremonies, as a result of using German advisors at the end of the 19th Century, who introduced German drill and ceremonies, Chile has preserved pre-World War One German military traditions, uniforms, and even music.
As a German, I am very proud that Chile has kept the old Prussian military tradition and hope that our German parades will also look like this again in future 🇩🇪🦅🤝🇨🇱💪🏻

My father is a Chilean nationalist, so he began watching Chilean military parades almost everyday parades as soon as he discovered UA-cam, volume all the way up. (Even though he's been living in the US for 50 years).

Yeah I’ve been wondering too why they play so many marching songs from other countries. Like the uniforms sure, they got given to them and carried on the tradition, but the music is literally about the glory of a bunch of other nations

@@richardmangelmann4975 It happens because no modern marching music has been produced, at least not in Chile in the last years so until we get into another war I guess we will still use the same music. By the way, the are plenty of Chilean marching songs as "Adios al séptimo de línea" and "Los viejos Estandartes" wich I recommend you listening.

This army is so german, the pickelhaube, the goose stepping, the helemets. Germany should start using this again.
pickelhaube is the helmet with the spike, I only saw the stahlhelm of world war 2 (Great Patriotic War to you, comrade863). Russia does the goose stepping too (Kremlin guards).

Not German but Prussian. Prussian Officers built up this army and brought their traditions into it. They survived. Germany has also a lot of prussian traditions in the Bundeswehr.

I love the German uniforms from WW2, before the war the Chinese army was trained by the Germans, the Stahlhelm and Wehrmacht formations were preserved in Taiwan for decades after the ROC retreated there.
It brings tears to my viewfinder at the sight of the elite and old school military parade from Prussia. Bravo CHile you are more German than the modern German army.

You know nothing about our history. only line infantry uses the goose step, the infantry of the bundeswehr is in tradition of the Jägertruppe, which never used the goose step. i served five years as a leopard commander, believe me... we keep our traditions.
I'm filipino, and i agree with you, american doctrine sucks just some basic boring marching and no goosestep, I prefer Prussian docrtine in ROTC and prussian marching band

One thing I want to share is that besides this drill and tact these men and women are willing to die at their post rather than give the colors to the enemy. It is something found in all Chilean branches, to the last man, bullet and if necessary Corvo (bayonet) in hand wait for the enemy. Viva Chile!

El tema de la tradición prusiana en chile se resume asi: tras la guerra del pacifico donde Chile ganó muy fácilmente a Perú y Bolivia por tierra y por mar, el país no quedó conforme, y en ese tiempo prusia era la potencia bélica más fuerte del mundo, había derrotado a a los franceses fácilmente, entonces Chile que es la potencia de Sudamérica naval sobre todo, necesitaba profesionalizar a los militares, ahí es donde se deciden por ir a Alemania, y adopta la disciplina, tradición, y cultura prusiana, de la mano de korner, quien modernizó y profesionalizo al ejército chileno, también se impuso el servicio militar obligatorio.
Los escenarios de guerra moderna y tiempos cambian por eso hoy Chile está disciplinado, formado y entrenado bajo los estándares de Estados Unidos en la actualidad, pero en sus escuelas de formación y respeto y tradición se conserva siempre la doctrina prusiana ❤
When the Chilean military marches more German than Germany. You know Germany has forgotten it's Prussian heritage.
They Chileans sound so horrible... The drums are way too loud and give away the impression that gun shots are being fired. The Germans excercise their military traditions to this day. Furthermore, Germany isn‘t just Prussia! Bavaria, Saxony and Westphalia exist too and they have had some influence in the army too. Infact, if you dig deeper, you‘ll find Chile‘s army is only as Prussian as the French. They just dress up as Germans, do the Stechschritt (way too high!) and play a few marches, that‘s it. The Bundeswehr has way more to offer.

You see comments like this and it's obvious that when some people think of German traditions they only think of the goose step. The modern Bundeswehr preserves lots of German traditions, you just refuse to see it.

Exactly, and don't forget Bolivia (who I believe is South America's poorest country) is actually moaning and threatening Chile over not giving them a sea port. If the Chileans fight as well as they parade, it might be as lopsided as the Falklands, if Bolivia even has the money to fund such a war effort to begin with.
