Sometimes I think about how they match but no 😆 . I did bought the shop vac first but I wanted a Ryobi shop vac “green” but the one from Ryobi wasn’t powerful enough compared to the Ridgid. Then I looked for a generator and happen to be Orange the one I picked.
Correct me if I am wrong. The GenMax will run at 25% load for 14.5 hours while the Predator will run 18.5 hours. The life of a generator it is 3,000 hours. If you calculate the difference in consumption with the gas cost at $5 you the GenMax will consume $1,125 more during the lifetime. Also in case of emergency the runtime is the most important aspect.
If you believe hazard fraud marketing.... they both use basically same size engine. 458cc vs 459cc. They will both run same time. Predator will not run 4 hours more on same 6.8/6.9 gallons of gas. Its not possible for it to be that much more efficient.
Hi Javier. Any idea what is going on with this generators? They are on sale on Amazon for $900 from $2,000. 60% off. . Not the dual fuel but the gas ones.
I saw that. I think they are just getting rid of the gas one. I don't think they will keep making gas only and the dual fuel will replace it. Maybe next Genmax would be making a tri-fuel
I understand, so far I have no problem with it. Now I had the same concern before I bought mine, and some reviews didn’t add up so I contacted Genmax Directly and the representative told me that it looks like Champion brand hire someone to give them bad reviews or it was a Champion Fan. Genmax offered that person a free generator for him to review it and the guy declined and told the to not contact him anymore. All I can tell you is do whatever your heart is telling is the best for you.
I received this unit last week. Unfortunately, the hour meter resets to zero once the unit is turned off. I had to return the unit and waiting for the replacement. Do you recall if your hour meter retains the run hours once the unit is turned off? Have you been able to remove the Neutral to Frame Bond? This is problematic if connecting to a home through a Manual Transfer Switch. Other than the hour meter, I'm very impressed with the unit. It's very quiet and well made. As far as durability, time will tell. I purchased the extended warranty.
Hello. The Hours matter - that is the normal operation. I f you go to the user manual you will see this “HOURS: Represents single run time, goes from 0 at each startup.” about the Neutral - I am not sure about this but the user manual says “NEUTRAL FLOATING For portable generators where the neutral is floating, the operator's manual shall include the following wording or equivalent: The portable generator stator winding is isolated from the frame and from the AC receptacle ground pin; and Electrical devices that require a connection between one conductor pin and the grounded receptacle pin may not function properly.”
@@JavierRivera Hello, the hour meter is a dual mode display and cycles between the modes every 8 seconds. Mode 1 is "single run time" and does reset on power cycle. Mode 2 "Represents total operation time of the generator". This is in the manual and confirmed by Tech Support. The Generator has a "Bonded Neutral" not floating Neutral. The paragraph you are refering to in the manual is more of a disclaimer and very confusing. If you measure the continuity using a Ohm meter between the Ground and Neutral you will see they are connected "bonded".
Humm. Mine cycles but now that you pointed out that I do not remember if is the way you have explained. I will check this afternoon. About the Neutral, I will check but that is beyond my knowledge.
I am researching the bonded/floating neutral, and I am glad that you asked that question. I will check and if is bonded I have to convert it to floating because I already have a bonded connect at my breaker panel between neutral and ground. I think 🤔 I know how to make it not bonded. Then if I need to use the generator stand-alone and not connected ted to my home power inlet I can use the 30anp connector that came with the generator and connect the neutral and ground with a 10awg wire to create a bonded connection. Again I will check this afternoon
@@mike-qp2mt 1- the hour's meter, mine switched from mode 1 to mode 2 but I have not run the generator for an hour yet so still say total HOURS 0000. this measure complete hours, do not display minutes. the one that displays minutes is the current use meter that reset every time you start the unit. so I HOPE THIS WEEKEND I can use the generator longer to see if start counting total hours. 2- Yes is bonded, doing my research looks like the way to remove the bond to a floating neutral is by disconnecting the neutral wire from the ground bolt that is on the panel next to the 30 amp outlet. I might need to get access to behind the panel. I am going to try to do it this weekend, test it and make a video. Because I need it Floating.
No one has done a good break in video on the Gen Max 9000 IED. Can you show the correct Way to break it in. How many oil changes to do it and how long to run with or without a load Thanks
Hello Javier, great job on the vids. Looking into getting one of these, but Amazon won't ship it to my address, i assume because California has some extra guidelines. I though you mentioned in your video you live in California as well. Where did you go to purchase on that shipped there?
Hi, No, I live in Florida. California has a regulation called CARB compliance, Genmax created one version to be sold in California the model number is GM9000iEDc the c at the end stands for the California version. Genmax told me that should be out for sale before the year's end but with the delays at the piers who know.
@@JavierRivera Ahhh, gotcha. Thank you. I guess I will delay purchasing a generator until that one is available. I hope it doesn't have any other effect on performance / quality, making it California carb compliant

Hello, no, I have not yet seen a generator with a battery Tender integrated from the factory. You might need to start it monthly to keep the battery in shape.
Genmax has support here in USA and China. I have contacted the manufacturer directly which is in China. I have to say that they are very responsive, I got an answer to every single email I sent to them. They sent me a new Display via DHL today, which should arrive on July 18, 2022. Once I receive the new display I am going to do a video replacing it and telling my experience with the warranty. Of course and hoping that the new Display solves the problem.
Hello Javier, I am looking at purchasing this same generator as well. My question, have you had the chance to power this unit up, and if so, any thoughts so far you can share?
Hello. Yes, I did Start it. I'm still in the break-in phase. The manual recommends 5hrs running with no more than 50% load then after that, you need to change the oil. Then recommends 30hrs with no more than 75% load. I think I am only going to commit to the first 5hrs break-in. So far I like it a lot but I have to say that I have not been able to test it like I want to, because I bought it to use it as a whole House generator and I know I will go over the 50% load if I connect it to the House and the Air Conditioner kick in. If you have specific questions please let me know.
@@JavierRivera Thank you for the reply, I did make the investment and purchased the same unit. Your video overview helped me with the final decision. Have a great day and good job on the review.
I also bought this generator. I'm only getting running 6.6KW instead of the claimed 7.2KW on propane. Beyond 6.6 the generator overloads. Any chance you can check whether you see the same limit? I haven't tried gasoline yet. Genmax support (over Whatsapp) initially said 7.2 shouldn't be a problem and asked for a video. They later said that this is expected since they are allowed to advertise a number (7.2) even if they can only reach 90% of it. I'm pretty sure the duromax can actually sustain 7.2-7.6 without a problem on propane so not sure if the support rep is misinformed or this generator is indeed inferior, or just miscalibrated
Hi, I don't have a propane tank at this moment to test it. However. If you check Gavin's video at 3 minutes 30 seconds, you will see that reaches 7.6-7.2k on LP. ua-cam.com/video/tsj9LWfZ7Go/v-deo.html ANOTHER possibility could be a bad Digital Display is not reading properly. Try to contact support via email using the china email. Lisa.
Regarding the Oil Filter. It has more of a tubular "Screen" as apposed to a conventional screw on "filter" . The manual is not very good and does not discuss this.
I did a shorter video and I was going to take out the oil filter BUT I was afraid of the oil coming out. I thought you drain the oil through the same oil filter hole but then I find out that is not. You drain out the oil through a bolt that is located at the bottom left of the yellow oil deep stick. If you go to the parts pdf file that is on the Genmax website you will see the filter there but like you said there is not too much information about it. I think Genmax think is self-explanatory. I will show it once I meet my 5 hours Break-in and is time for an oil filter.
