The absolute BEST silicone mat to buy for the clay (and other stuff) are the pastry mats, because not only do things not stick to it, but it has a huge circle in the center with a bunch of smaller circles, so you can roll out and measure an exact size plus it has measurements all up and down the sides. I only paid like $5 on Amazon for it and it's pretty big (maybe 18" x 25" I think...) It's super helpful though ❤
I have not used clay since I was younger. I did ceramics then. I'm very interested in what to use and I'm older and have hand strength problems and I will be buying some molds next week on Amazon. On farm fresh designs I saw a fairy mold and I found it on Amazon as well as some trimmings molds from prima. This is why I need to use something easy on my hands. From what I can see the paper clay may be best for me. I'm glad you did this video because I'm more educated now concerning clay. Thank you Brandi
I love the clay. I used some last Halloween to make ropes & snakes for my decorative Hocus Pocus BOOOK for my front door! The clay & paint held up to sun & heat from the evening sun, which gets extremely hot! The color of the “animal” on the packaging is usually the color of the clay!
I appreciate this video so much, girlie! I may have seen this type of clay in Dollar Tree once in all the years I've been going there. And it was the same color as yours. I know it comes in different colors because I remember seeing another UA-camr using the color white (and a couple of others) a long time ago. And, although it doesn't specify the color in words, the picture tells which color clay is in the package. Thanks for the tutorial and infomation about this clay! ❤
Thank you for trying this clay and letting us know! I have always wanted to try it, but didn’t because I have a favorite clay I use. As always great video! Thanks again! ❤
Oh no! The door! Ive also heard... 😂... that if you notice your clay is drying too quickly, you should mist your project with water & put it in an unsealed bag to slow down the drying process because fast drying can cause cracks 😢❤ Love your projects ❤
TY Brandi for the demo and all the info. Myself, I won't use this clay now. The only type of clay so far that I have used and like is the Crayola brand. Yeah, I should prolly try other brands, but like you dear, I work with a budget. I love watching your vid's and enjoy them and you. You are great!!
I used this clay to make butterflies to add on a metal flowerpot that I gave my Mom. I painted each one with bright colorful acrylic paint. I gave it to her on Mother’s Day and she still has it sitting on her front porch and is enjoying it. They did have to dry overnight. And one wing did break off but I think it was my fault because I made it to thin where the wing attached to the body. But I just used E6000 to fix it and I used it to attach the butterflies to the pot. 😊
Ive bought it but never used it. Kinda was lil scared to after my daughter that was 13 at the time( now 15) used it n it dyed her hands and it was hard to work with. Great video Brandi!
I store my DAS clay just like you do except that I put a damp baby wipe in the ziplock bag to keep it moist, NOT in my clay package where it's touching it. Then, I put it in a Tupperware TEMU container, but I'm EXTRA! Haven't tried the dollar tree clay...
I got busy and forgot about the live. Watching the recording. They are all red clay. You are lucky; some crafters have opened the packages and the clay was really wet and watery. Krafts by Katelyn.
I havent tried air dru clay yet, but have made cooked porecline clay. Itwasnt easy, buti managedi still have a couple of pieces thatbi made. They are maybe anout 7 to 8 yrs old
I can never find the clay. I will be back once i try it ❤ ive heard some people adding oil of some sort to it to make it workable ok...still watching...❤
I used this clay to make feet and noses for my gnomes. i made the feet which came out of a constarched mold very easily .I saw that the clay was starting to dry so I quickly used up the rest of the package for the noses. They dried with fine crackeling. I was wondering about sealing them. Any thoughts?
Put baby powder, or corn starch on the surface you are rolling out the clay. PS I am having a hard time finding IOD molds. They are not at Joann's or Michael's! Darn it!😂🎉😂❤
yupI am a art teacher and the students were very disappointed when that clay cracked on them after a special project! I was very P*ssed!@@thediystruggle
Love working with Clay but it's been a while. I'm atrophy in left arm so I struggle with movement of any motion. Financially I limited. I have made my own clay I the past. Dry clay sounds great especially coming from Dollar Tree. As always I enjoy watching your videos. Not sure what's happening with UA-cam but you're not the only channel going through changes. Looking forward to your next video.❤
Honestly, This clay was so gross. My niece and i opened the packages and it looked like it came out of a baby diaper. Wet, running color, clumps. Could not bring myself to try more than 3 that evening.

I also got a roller with mine that you can set different thicknesses. They are easy to switch the end for various depth. I love mine.
Thank you for doing this video. You saved me $1.25
Haha
