- Опубліковано 26 чер 2024
- Today we start the build of the ultimate Overlanding trailer for go karts. We team up with Harbor Freight for all the parts for this build. We build independent suspension with trialing arms to make it fully off road capable. We go on to build the main frame of this trailer. Let us know what you think of this build and what you would add or do differently.

I would’ve carried the 2” square tube from tongue to taillight and build everything with small tubing. Great work so far! Looking forward to see the next update!
this is looking good ! The only thing I would change is to have the tongue extend to the center of the " X " brace in the floor . the way You have it all of the weight will be on the front tube of the frame.
I have helped build about 6, 20 foot long car trailers and that is how We always built them.
That makes a ton of sense. Increasing that length reduces the leverage and cantilever force at the frame intersection. I expect it will be fine with how it's built especially with the parts of the build we haven't seen yet, who's to say. If it doesn't hold up, I'm excited to see why and under what conditions.
I love this channel and especially love the comedy. Would be a fun group to in I’m sure.
I would recommend plating under the front support for the tounge and gusset the corners infront of the hime joints. But keep up the fantastic work 👍
Great build so far👍
I would add a plate where the center tongue tube meets the trailer the tongue is long and will create a good bit of leverage and a plate there would really stiffen it up. I love your design and I think it will work great!
I have heard that Pelican it was a good cougar also igloo makes a good one now that is a lot lighter but if it's just as good as a More expensive one.
You should try to get sponsored by Bluetti. They're massive battery banks in a compact size. They're basically a generator. Check them out. They're sweet units and I think they'd be pretty happy with this build.
Ozark trail coolers at Walmart or Lifetime brand at Walmart they both perform well.
A 'Pintle-Hitch' allows more twist and almost vertical flex too. You can buy 1 for a '2" receiver'.$78 at Home Dep, and $58 at Walma../ A 12" plate on the X in the middle? For sure gussets off the 2" 'hitch tube' to the trailer to prevent twist in extreme weight and flex situations. It looks awesome. (3 brothers have homemade motorcycle camper trailers).
Great work , looks good
Coolers. How long do you want it to stay cool? I like to freeze bottles of water to use like ice packs. Solar panels and batteries equal a generator. Trailing arm suspension, you built the mounting point so that the rocks could hit and slide, but the arms themselves, you put holes in that will catch rocks and other things. Just thinking out loud.
It’ll work perfectly I would have moved the axle back 4 inches though
I made one that I used torsion spring axles. 4. It's kind of a rubber in line torsion, spring for shock absorption worked out pretty good
With your building skills I would love to see a road. Bike with the 999 engine 👍
I like the ozark coolers at Wal Mart. You could also go packout since I think your team red.
The tongue really is going to be the weak point from what I can see. Extending it even 1/3 the length of the trailer bed with help better distribute the weight. Or adding some plating the overlaps the tongue and the bed! Great build as always
Make the generator tri fuel for propane use.😉👍✌️
Looking good. The only concern I have about airbags is the possibility of a branch possibly putting a hole in it or ripping an airline off. I have Kelderman airbags on my Ram 2500 and no matter what I do I am unable to get the system completely leak free, but not that I'm worried since I have onboard air. I have Haldex height control valves so my truck rides level and I think they are my leak when I'm not driving, It has added so much complexity for me that I don't feel that it would be worth it on a trailer like this. If a shock blows out the trailer will just be a bit bouncy, but if an airbag goes out it will beat the trailer up. If you do go with the airbags I would add a really good bump stop for the just in case situation.
God bless RBG
The life time brand . Can. Get it at Walmart. Holds ice for two days in middle of summer in Az . Had them three years and use them almost every day.
I think you may want some kind of sway control, especially depending on the finished height of the trailer when it loaded. Would hate to go around a bend, hit a bump and it fall on its side. Really just depends on how high the center of gravity is gonna be.
Walmart Ozark Trail coolers are neck and neck with Yeti’s and about half the price.
Bring back the wildcat RTH!
I love the design of your trailer, but I'm concerned that you may have camber problems with the trailing arms twisting.
Why not use the generator for the cooler at the same time plus battery 😉
I've built trailers. That's a lot lot lot of trailer. It will trail.
Thanks Red, Reds Wife, Lonnie
OVER KILL!! Could do tongue coupler pivot flex area. "cheap way" lathe turned collared delrin (amazon 2" stock) plastic 1.25' id shaft bushing. 2) 1 per dom material sides. arc pivot stops say 90 degree up .75" rod up and stops at 90 degrees out. note: rod up is also a bolt into pivot rod as rod keeper. pivot shaft rod welded to trailer tongue. coupler is dom pivot front mount. .5" cotter key castle nut to hold rod up in place. easy machine n weld limited pivot tongue hitch - ideal for off road buggy pull camping in rock crawling deep woods.. 1/4 to 3/8" delrin walls on 1.25" id. @1" long bushings. going completely bonkers add springs to both ends of shafted areas for pull and braking motion absorption. Note: ball park trail arms probably a 2000 lbs or higher rating per arm - ie rock crawler trailer use. I've done drop to ground/winch up armed trailers like the sit on ground winter ice fish houses - google "ice castle" brand. cnc plasma cut sides to weld to dom tubing and coupler tubing. go nuts... great work...
Those trailing arms look like they are bomb proof! Those spindles will break before the trailing arms even squeak from the load! The closer you mount the air bags to the pivot point the more lift you will get also. The air bags are a killer idea BTW.
Igloo coolers are hands down, the best bang for the buck. I have 5 of them in different sizes, and they hold ice for 3-5 days, no problem.
what is the height for the front plate on a manco dingo 286
paint maybe
I TRULY APPRECIATE THE VERSE OF SCRIPTURE FROM THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Greg HAS got to take those Dahmer glasses off
Why didn't you put braces inside the swing arms? That's the only thing i saw wrong on episode one. You need to put internal brace under those plates and it'll make them plenty strong as you would say.
Hey man are you still considering doing a 2 inch fork spacer for the mb200 im really looking for someone who can do it I'm willing to pay up.
Yeah I will look at it this week.
@RedBeardsGarage ok thanks id really appreciate it and even if you'd wanna just do a set for me thats cool. Another thing is that maybe the 2 inch spacers for that coleman do you think would work for the mb200?
We want predator 670 six speed chopper build ... Like this comment if you agree ✊
Get an Rtic Cooler.
Ozark Trail Walmart
I won a 30 gallon Rtic cooler last Christmas at work in a raffle and it holds ice longer than my boss's 400$ yeti 50
Litteraly 2 20lb bags of ice last Monday-Saturday with some left in it at the end of the day
Need your help I have a stage 4 billet hemi 212 that no matter how much I pull it it won’t start for it’s first start I have a lot of money in the motor and need your help plz
Hey brother I know this is off topic but I’m trying to vent my daughters stock crank case and put 1/4 x 1/4 NPT barbs in and I bought the 1/4-20 drill/tap combo bit and when my barbs came the actual male end going into the case is way bigger then 1/4” so I bought more thinking it was a mess up and they came the same size. So now what do I do. What size bit do I even use to do this and should I get 1/4 barb x 1/16 NPT male
LOTS OF COMERCIALS 🤡 AND NOT WORK IT ALL 🥱 BORING !!! 😴🤫
Ok thanks for watching 😘
