The bars hate it when I put on Whipping Post Live, so I think I found a new contender.
I will forever live thinking that The Whirlwind is among the greatest albums ever written
Well put💯✌️
I agree. A fucking masterpiece!
And genesis The Lamb lies on Broadway
Even better than a lot of 70s classics!!!
Selling England by the pound,Thick As A Brick,Three Friends,

Who else is waiting for them to make a 10 day song?
LMAO
Still waiting and hoping they will 🙏🏼

out of all their 5 albums, this one is Easily the Best. No words can Quite Describe the Feeling of listening to this Song or The End of It [Whirlwind Reprise], They Truly Came back with a Bang Riding off the Legacy of Bridge Across Forever, coming back with Nothing Short of a Grand Masterpiece of Music and Progressive rock after 8 years. This Album is Reigns over SMPTE, Bridge Across Forever, Kaleidoscope, And The Absolute Universe, and its spot won't be taken anytime soon. This Album Truly Leaves no Stones Unturned no Loose Ends and Stands with utmost certainty at Transatlantic's Peak, it delivers from Start to Finish, end to end, up and down, and all around, It Truly is a Whirlwind...
This is the first time I'm listening this album on this year.
Still I'm enjoying the 1h17m music
Just discovered this band after all this years listening to the Mars Volta. This is in another level. 3rd day straight listening to this. I enjoy it every much.
I remember I had this album for years but it never clicked for me because my itunes catalogued all the songs in alphabetical order from A to Z. LOL no wonder it was an awful mess I couldn't grasp.
After falling in love with Neal Morse's music, I finally bought the CD proper instead of a downloaded jumbled file. I put it in my Volvo Harmon Kardon car stereo and I probably listened to this CD only
For the next 3 or 4 months straight until I was sick of it LOL
Nah... I LOVE IT
Too much ✌️
I love all the Transatlantic albums, but this one seems to be the one where they just hit the peak!
I agree 💯
1 hour and 17 minutes of prog epicness. It doesn't get any better than Transatlantic

I'm so sad this isn't on Spotify
I'm glad it isn't. Spotify is shit and poison to the industry.
@@danpower7416 Why? I can't carry my vinyl with me to listen while driving. But I can listen to Spotify without having to purchase a second copy of an album. I've discovered a lot of albums/artists via Spotify and then purchased their discography afterwards.
@@danpower7416and youtube is better?
it is now though
@@joelgustafsson9809 I looked on the Transatlantic spotify page and I didn't find it

Surreal to believe this band is done making music and touring.
Bittersweet
But they've given us all this amazing extra music along with their repsective bands
😢😢😢 i just found them and i wish i got to see the whirlwind live that would be insane
Too many people will never enjoy this incredible piece of music, because they will never know this band.
Yes, but even if you would show it to some random person they will not like it I think. Your path led you to this music and it is a not a straight path :)
@@Tuloisboss Of course they wont.
People like what they like, it’s not a choice. I’m sure the people who don’t like this say the same thing about the music they love and we hate…❤
Beautiful. From start to finish
Agree. It's a masterpiece of progressive rock.

Chef d'oeuvre, (masterpiece) period.
The more times I run through it,
The more it's becoming my fav piece of music.

This is my introduction to this band! So far I'm more than impressed
This really is a masterpiece, grew up listening to this, I heard it once more today and filling with glories nostalgia.
TRANSATLANTIC
Neal Morse - keys, acoustic guitar, percussion, vocals
Roine Stolt - guitar, vocals, percussion, mellotron, minimoog
Pete Trewavas - bass, vocals, synth, orchestration
Mike Portnoy - drums, vocals
Seems Stolt and Morse have done better since leaving. Sorry about Portnoy.
Best album of the 21st century so far
One of my favorite albums. The LORD is all over this album.
Meh, the christian shit is probably the sole reason why I dont consider any neal morse project as being on par with the best of prog. I could do very well without it.
@@necroplastful and Jesus and Neal's doing ok without you.
An amazing fusion of Dream Theater and PInk Floyd, what a blast!!!
i hear more yes than pink floyd
@@feralkitty9378 The production is as good as Pink Floyd l, the riffs are as good as Yes.
@@feralkitty9378a lot of Genesis influence as well
@@feralkitty9378But "Is It really Happening ?" couldn't get more Waters-like than this...
The funniest thing is one of the members from Dream Theater is a band member of Transatlantic
Saw them perform this at high voltage....incredible.
I was there too ✌
Excellent album, every time I silence to something new from TRANSATLANTIC it is always awesome , one of the only bands left that still makes music like Genesis, yes , & rush
I grew up on heavy doses of Yes, Genesis, ELP, Tull, some Floyd, and oddly Deep Purple... And MANY others. Was a reject from the 70s until this month. Found Tr.Atl., LTE (pref. to Dr.Thtr.), and am happily hooked anew. Also
Porcupine Tree and Wilson's genius.
Dont worry Dan - there are plenty of us 70's rejects out there still enjoying what prog has to offer...
I was an 80s child but with a love of 70s prog, and felt like a Fish out of Water, then one day I heard a song on the radio that wasn't Pink Floyd but sounded a bit like it... It was 'Stars Die' by Porcupine Tree, and that was the start of a great awakening... Saw that band live more than I can count.
You maybe should check out this band called King Crimson, if it isn't included in your "And MANY others".
Just stumbled onto TA. Aborbing for the very 1st time. Mighty good stuff. Similar influences like you, growing up in the 70s. Add Led Zep, Steppenwolf & Grand Funk Railroad to the mix!
Pete Trewavas is such an amazing musician!I love his early work with Marillion-his playing in Misplaced childhood is phenomenal, so sensitive and powerful at the same time!He carries the legacy of Chris Squire better than anyone
A Masterpiece. I love this album!!!
Just finished my first playthrough and it was indeed a masterpiece.
Man i forgot how beautiful this is!
HOLY SHIT! So good. What took me so long to dive in to Transatlantic????
For me its DSOTM #1 and Whirlwind #2 best prog of all time and I've been listen to Prog since 1970
The descendant of Genesis Suppers Ready ...Superb
This album is legitimately the first thing that made me think God might be real back when I was an atheist. Thank you Neal and company! My eternal gratitude is with you.
because of the lyrics or the songwriting?
@@kzeriar25 A little bit of both. Mostly the lyrics to Dancing with Eternal Glory. However, there was also a sense that music like this was a little beyond the capability of a normal human working under his own power.
@@JustOneWillingSoul check out Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans, album made me feel the same way
You should look at the backstory and hear Morse’s testimony... he almost lost his child, but God healed her... it changed him forever. I have had a similar experience and I’ve given it all over to God now... no more booze or weed... All God, every day
LORD bless you, my brother.
I still learning note by note this piece. The double guitars, all the arrangements, what a piece!
Nice to be able to be excited about listening to music -like as a kid. Everything from this band is another level. New live album has a side of live Whirlwind which is brilliant. I got into them cause of Portnoy and Morse. But I’m starting to listen to Marillion and Flower Kings and it’s good music - . But this for me is perfect and it’s been overused but I feel a lot of later Beatles vibe -mostly with oddly the vocals. I got a record player so I could listen to this
Such an iconic album !
Mix Dream Theater and 70s Yes and this is what you get and it's great.
The wind just blew one guy away.
Me too 🎉🎉
Enchant guys fill in as 5th member live. Really fun band to see live
MAGICAL MUSIC . thank you
Unbelievably good. Prophetic as well.
a really underrated masterpiece, no bad songs..
That's because it's one song
Its more than a Underrated Masterpiece.
Wow, WOW holly shit what a ride incredible album
Its one song
Pohtayto, potaato :)
The lyrics to this are so relevant today. Maybe not facing an immediate risk from global warming, but definitely a worldwide threat from the Corona virus.
" best stay in cos the wolfs on the prowl"
But " listen through the wind you'll hear Him now, working wonders though we know not how.
Before raised up He's got to break us down. "
God is our only hope.
Take care and stay well everyone.
Geoff Baker “Set us free, free, free, free...!”
One boss - one lie - one world order
Endless masterpiece! 😍
40:30 has some "Yes - Close to the edge" vibes
A Piece of Art
Thanks for the upload
Loved 80th prog rock and this is even better, much better, amazing. Pink Floyd may be similar but without the paranoia, much more positive vibe.
Certainly some fine instrumentality and structure, but I never felt surprised by the music. This is musical ground that has been tread many times before.
Why in the name of God it's not on Spotify!?
Fantastic album
i know it's a super long song, but i think it's ok to call it an album.
The last song, Dancing With Eternal Glory, is too preachy for me, but overall this album is amazing!
I feel like the sound is overly Genesis-inspired. But I can't deny the whole album is an incredible feat.
Fuck I have too much music to catch up on. I've just got my foot in the Spock's Beard door, loved what very little of The Flower Kings I heard, and now this...
Nice little ditty.
if earth had an anthem , this is what it sounded like
One of the greatest songs of all time
@SortingMechanism - ?? ?? There are twelve SONGS on this album.
@@warmswarm there is only one song on this album, the title track, which is comprised of twelve movements but is only a single song.
@@Hastenforthedawm - The Whirlwind is a suite of SONGS. Twelve SONGS. Like most long Progressive Rock pieces of music. It quite clearly is NOT just one song.
@@warmswarm you clearly have a problem that I cannot help you with
@@Hastenforthedawm - You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Do you call Supper's ready a SONG? Do you call A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers a SONG? Do you call Tales from Topographic Oceans a SONG? Do you call Dark Side Of The Moon a SONG? Does this album The Whirlwind have one song with the same verse and the same chorus lasting well ovwer an hour? Of course it doesn't. That's because it's a collection of songs strung together to make an album. It's not rocket science, it's quite easy to understand.
I think this album is conceptual empiricism.
perfecto para la pajilla time
Con porrete
Fumable o cascable?
You can't trust vinyl DR ranges. They ALWAYS show as around 11, 12 or 13 even if they're the same hyper-compressed master made for the CD.
I hear some kansas in this, just me?
21:32 -21: 40
I immediately remembered the song
Bay City Rollers - Yesterday's Hero :) , but I like prog rock !
There's a lot of 'Yes' in this. Some CTTE, some Steve Howe-ish guitar type work. Not quite in the tune but in the builds & construction. I'm not accusing them of plagiarism in any way at all, but maybe there's a bit of inspiration derived here? Anyone like to comment?
th4 solo at 37.00 kind of gilmour and hackett fusion
I even hear a riff from Shine On You Crazy Diamond in there.
Is it just me or is this truely way better than the new album(s). I have the forevermore edition and I don`t get in it.
TAV is okay in either version, but I still consider Bridge Across Forever and The Whirlwind the highlights of their discography.
Felt the same when the Album came out, but I've being listening to all the versions almost everyday for the past 2 weeks. Now I feel Forevermore is awesome!!
The theme from 21:32-21:43 sounds familiar; anyone know any other popular song that sounds similar?
Porque este disco no esta en Spotify?
Porque spotify no le sabe
1:12:35 he sounds like peter gabriel
The whole album screams Genesis.

The live version is better for me. Otherwise I can understand better the lyrics here. Thx for the upload
Which live version? The London one?
Another juxtaposition is... Studio oddly feels (wonderfully) "heavier". Which is unusual. But... also oddly, Neal's voice is much more Beautiful live! Sounds ordinary in Studio. Isn't that weird? :)

If this came out in the 70s I would probably love it, I would feel its authentic, but I cant help hearing it as a string of cliches one after the next,, every note is the one I expect to be there.
Saudades dos 2 primeiros CDs, a fonte secou...
Mas esse é o melhor deles! hahaha
secou seu ouvido isso sim. gosto é igual * e o seu secou, fazer o que né
Prog? Yes. Today . But with an american sound. Not the english one from the origins. Something like FM sound more. Music for radio. English sound have a little dirty touch.
You can find that on Yes, Genesis, Van Der Graaf, Gentle Giant and so on...
So. Prog ? Yes . But a little too clean.
Where is the soul ?
Somewhere in you. : )
@@rosesprog1722Amen
What mean "soul"?
It's a good album but after 52 years listening to Prog everything since1977 sounds derivative. I hear lots of Yes, Genesis, Floyd, Rush and other influences. Sorry to say I find the drumming very annoying and monotonous.
Gotta respect Transatlantic, but I just don't enjoy anything Roine Stolt touches. Nasty guitar tone with a heavy wah-wah-wah, snotty nasal voice, every sound he makes sets my teeth on edge.
I respect anyone's emotional response to music.
It's all always subjective. Otherwise we'd all be clones :)
Anyway. My first listen, I had a similar reaction. 2nd time, I simply believed Neal let him sing as a contrast to enhance his own crisper voice. 7th time now... Opinion is obv. in numbers :)
I don't trust anyone that doesn't like Stolt
40:47 Reminds me a lot of Yes. But it is funny because that doesn't carry all the way through. There are a lot of influences here, and of course, originality. Rose Colored Glasses is unique just for the lyrics.
It is funny there are a good number of Prog bands that I really don't care for because the lyrics are a bit trite.
This is album is the golden jewel in the haystack of musical garbage of nowadays...
every year I spend 1h17m37s to apreciate this master piece. Thank u so much
14:40 Wish they would have vamped on this for about an hour
Heavily influenced by Genesis Yes and Pink Floyd but still a commendable slab of modern progressive rock

@@ricardodonosocorrochano5 Sorry I thought you was the same guy who had a dig at me for saying I heard elements of Pink Floyd.
Listening again there is definitely more Genesis and Yes influences and not much Pink Floyd.
As you say it's only music. Apologies again for being so abrupt.
Do yourself a favor and get the cd or the record. Unbelievably good mix. Each instrument is crystal clear, specially the bass. Sounds swirl around your headphones like a literal whirlwind. I bought a new cd player just for this album. These guys (and the sound engineer) have mastered the art of enveloping soundscapes...much like Genesis, Yes, and Pink Floyd in the seventies
