The torque is what makes a VG special but that "drop a 10mm socket in the engine bay" joke had me rolling. No Nissan lover will hate this RB swap...jealous that you drove one that is well sorted!
JUN auto still holds their record for hitting 262mph in a 900hp Z32 back in 1991 using the VG engine. It is definitely an underrated engine but there are more parts for practically everything else lol
@@SirRobbins www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/17228/theres-a-262-mph-nissan-300zx-for-sale-in-japan this?
Had me rolling because I remember dropping a 15 mil wrench on top of the trans tunnel and sold the car and still never found it
300zx is going to be a car of mine. a TT one would be awesome but this rb26 one would be better
the 300 zx looks great even today better than a 350z
I think the 350/370 will age better. The 300 is a step in the evolution
This car is perfect. The Z has aged soooo well. Timeless lines
StreetDreamzTT Z cars are so timeless. The only one that didn’t age well it the Z31
Yep and the continued it with the RZ34, that thing is like a rolling greatest hits of Z history! Can't wait to buy a base model that hasn't been marked up eventually and do all the Nismo, Z1, AMS and SPL things to it.
love the looks of 300zx even more than supra and gtr
As a kid I loved the 300zx, I still do.
One headlight is enough for 650HP car. I like this guy
It has 2...on the close up I thought I saw a really small light pushed to the corner?... maybe I responded too quickly, we'll see.
wow cmon guys they took they headlight off for weight reduction ughhh idiots
ImReeflexx the light that is removed for the turbo is the ‘bright light’ or ‘high beam, I’m not sure on the terminology. The light that is closest to the fenders is just the normal headlight. Also this aftermarket bumper has the fog lights removed.
No matter how much stronger the 2JZ is, in terms of sound RB26 is KING.
Never knew what love was until I bought one of these cars
Your videos are pure art, very beautiful. It's amazing to listen the sound of the car properly and at the same time listening to your review
Again, Roads Untraveled most underrated car YT channel out there. No clue why, best overall quality vids!
Yea buddy! Nice to see the z32 getting some love.
The Royalty performance guys are awesome! Good to see these guys getting the attention they deserve!
Great looking car for a 90's model! Some 90's cars were actually ahead of their time! Perfectly made!
There was always something about the 300z that I liked and this one is just amazing!! Cant wait til the day I get to review one!
This is what would happen if the japanese made the corvette
...do you know what either of those cars are? an RX7 and a Corvette not even remotely similar beyond the number of doors lol
@@JOVANYGUZMAN84 there is zero similarities between an FD RX7 and a Corvette
That's a beautiful car love the review.
Just beautiful man no words and I'm not even Nissan just all over car enthusiast 👍🏼💪🏼 keep up the good work brah
Once the VG is built, coolant bs deleted what else do you need to get to? People tend to sleep on the VG like it’s not a great powerful engine, the talk about it not able to make 1000hp, wth are you Going to do with 1000hp on the street. The VG30dett makes more hp than newer cars in its same class and it’s 25 years old! Half of the people that talk about the VG most likely don’t even have one or worked on one. Go work on a Nissan that has the v6 like the G35’s-G37’s q60 TT etc....the engine bay is still tight I know I was a tech at Infiniti. VG30Dett is a very reliable engine, Will the electronics fail “engine wire harness” Again for a 25 year old car. A lot of these cars are still running the original engine if maintenance has been done. If someone wants to do a swap perfectly cool, just please don’t insult perfection from the 90’s that dominate’s on the street still to this day. Have a blessed day!
Agreed! I think the problem is the inline 6 configuration is usually "easier" to service than the quad cam v6. Most techs approve that some engines, in its original engine bay, are easier to service than others! VG is proven for sure though!
I mean... Living in the same house as one... The VG is tough to work on, but the N/A one made the same HP as a N/A 350z and sounds amazing. You're absolutely right on the engine only being as good as the owner
The same people that shit on the vq are the same that will add a tt kit to their vq lol. both v6s with tt set ups lol
@@prismatic9804 n/a 300zx's do not make the same hp as a n/a 350z. The 300zx made 222hp and the 350z made 287hp-306hp depending on the year
Great video and beautiful car, these guys do great work as well! All the work on my Z32 has been done at Royalty Performance.
For me RB26 sound is like a therapy, I can listen it every day, every hour :)
so sick.. have always loved and wanted a Z32... One of if not my favorite car ever... Long live 90's Japanese cars!!!
If not the 300zx is the most overlooked underrated car japan has ever made if you own a 300zx you would know the vg30dett is one of the best engines it holds the top speed to this day for all jdm cars which has ran 262 mph in 1995 but I love this build so much it's a iconic rb26 nothing will ever beat that but everybody should give the 300zx some recognition
Antonio Cervantes vg’s hardly the best platform. Do your research homes they got sc400s pushing 800 hp running Toyota 1uz-fe’s
Antonio Cervantes & I’ve owned a 300 twin turbo built to hell thing was fast but at the end of the day a skyline or built Lexus sc300/400 would House it
Bad ass z32! One of the mmost
Menacing looking ones I’ve seen on UA-cam so far
So good to see a Zed, beautiful car and a great driver. Rb26 zed, heaven that car.
Been waiting to see an RB26 in a 300zx just beautiful
Loving the "260ZR" decal!
I love this car so much! Glad I have my 95 NA in the garage. Slowly bringing her back to life. Hoping to keep most things stock. Eventually looking into LS swap or VGdett.
love these cars looks, dont like the stock engine and dont like hassle of swapping, awesome to see!
Great video content as always!
I'm currently completing a 2jz swap in my MK3 Supra. This is what the concept of engine swapping is all about... job well done Mr. STEWART!
Bcz of you and your video, I bought one of it and I'm learning to drive manual transmission and I'm having so much fun, my Mercedes Benz is resting in the garage for now,,
Love the sounds
This man is living my dream. But is cool I’ll get there 👌🏽
Sounds sooooooo good!!!
These should've had that RB option even though the VG motor is nice....RB looks so much cleaner
Looks cleaner is possibly the only benefit ! The vg is smoother tourquier and with far better weight distribution ok so it is not as easy to work on or develop but the vg being a v6 is inherently a stronger, shorter, more reliable, better balanced engine with better weight distribution able to handle more power and torque with a superior oiling system than the rb26 (and way lighter than the same displacement rb30) why change perfection ? Granted its different, mind you after watching the entire video, why not pop an rb26 in the z lets face it the manual z had the same drive line all be it the 2wd version as the gtr
@@nickacelvn actually i6s are way smoother than v6s due to not needing counterweights and shit though
Need to work on you math. Stock ‘91 z32s came with a tad over 300hp and did >150mph. So no, not “triple the horse power” nor “not designed to go over 150mph.
Well done Carson, that's a super clean swap. The RB26's sound and power is pure autorgasm. My brother and I just finished an R32 GT-R build. Tuned by Jason Oefelein at Portland Speed Industries using a Link G4 platform (what I've run on all my builds). It's making an honest 620whp with twin GT2867r disco potatoes on e85, putting it to the ground with AWD and a PPG transmission. Although it's not as sexy as a big single, smaller twins are making boost at 2500 rpm and in full berserk mode by 4K. Damn thing taps out at 9K redline, so it's a very unreasonable about of acceleration by any standard. I'm used to winging out SR20s, so all that bottom end torque from the RB is intoxicating.
That is awesome! And motive DVD proved the stock RB26 can hold well more than 600
Z32 plus RB26! Best of both worlds! 😍
I also grew up with Z's! loved them since birth, My mom had them, once I was old enough to drive I had 85' 300ZX then after my first job I purchased a 91 300ZX TT god it was such a beast and so ahead of its time. loved the interior it has such a great cockpit design how the climate control is focused at the driver its just great! The engine setup was so sweet how everything was split into two basically, loved how it had dual intake and exhaust and how it was split like that, Sadly once the 350Z came out and there was no "factory" turbo option I never purchased a Z again :( working on the Z32 DETT was a pain and wayyyy over my head just the vacuum hoses alone required a damn map. I eventually sold it because I didn't know enough how to fix it myself once it started needed more work
300zx is one of the best looking cars of all time.
editing is great on this one. nice onboard/pov scenes.
very quick and sounds nice brah
I agree with the owner/builder; nothing beats a great I6. The Z32 should never have had a V6. Still the best looking car Nissan ever made, too. If it had been offered with the RB26 it would be their best car IMO.
Love the video I love the story I know the feeling I love my Z32 too One day she’ll be a beast to Keep up the good work love it
That thing sounds beautiful!
Love these cars. This one sounds great. Wouldn’t mind having a twin turbo version of the zx of my own. Jeez, I love the 90s.
awesome video as always, solid swap for a z32!
If you have ever seen how crammed the engine bay originally is on the z32, this is so much more user friendly...looks fun to drive
My favorite chassis with my favorite motor. That is insane and sounds amazing. I need me one.
Fookin EPIC build !!
Shout out to Cason!!! Love the build
Back in the day I lived within walking distance of Ford, Nissan and Dodge dealerships. Used to go sit inside the 300Zs, Stealths and Daytonas but ended up getting into fox bodies. 300s, Starions/3000GTs, RX7s, and NSXs were seen as supercars back then. Good memories.
such an amazing build!
Japanese in-line 6’s sound amazing! Nissan and Toyota should bring them back.
OMG .. loads of Z Love from Tasmania.. thanx soo much for the upload!
Ugh, this makes me so excited to get my z32 on the road! Only difference is that I have a built rb25 in mine with a slightly smaller BW turbo.
Nothing wrong with rb25! I have a rb26 just sitting in my garage but I'm currently running my rb25 with no intentions on swapping out yet. #Rb25ftw
@@clutchkickpj693 definitely not! Unfortunately I will still have a stock series 1 head since my engine build was unexpected, but I went pretty overkill with my bottom end. 9:1 cp pistons, turbo tuff rods, king bearings, arp main/headstuds, nitto extended collar and oil pump with an extended sump. I just have a t4 257sxe 1.22 ar so id be happy with 510-520 wheel on 93!
Great car, great video :)
Im in love with that Fairlady...
240Z with RB26DETT, but not converted to 1 big turbo, but 2 smaller turbos to eliminate that huge turbo lag. 600HP, this is reliable and dependable HP for this engine and for street use you don't need more. So yh...
This would be my dream car :)
My dream JDM car and engine choice!
RB sounds much better than the VG! .. Opinion of course 😆
8:33 * points behind * "light front end"😂😂
The fastest Nissan promod is powered by a VG30 and does 6.16 seconds on the 1/4 mile .lazcano racing team hold the title .
Awesome car love that RB swap
Beautiful car, sounds great too! I've always loved the factory JDM front end on these.
@@matthewheffernan3877 You're right, it doesn't have the integrated turn signals on the front end. My mistake.
all the z's prior to the z31 had inline 6 engines in them. Z31 is often the forgotten stepchild but still a very nice platform.
Favoring the edge of that road bro!
Awesome Z. I love it, love the sound, love the looks love the ATL.
Was that lake Lanier??
Always loved the z32 it's a car before it's time
My two favourite cars combined
Love this car so much my dad has one when I was a kid, I cried the day he sold it 😂
Sounds good on video!
The 300zx is an amazing cruiser.
no engines sounds good without exhaust. awsome build and it must push hard,i love the look of the 300..ive seen many in dubai has 2jz swapped these
I like the BOV sound on this thing
cool & clean car! GJ.
Good looking car with a great sound
Beautiful car to put a 26 in. I love the 300 so much
The RB is probably the best sounding engine Nissan has ever made. If my VQ goes in my Z, im swapping an RB26/28 in it.
Literally filmed 5 minutes away from my house. Pretty damn cool to see the shots of lake Lanier right by the dam. No pun intended😂
I remember when my heavily modded Z32 ran extremely rich... So I know exactly what you mean about the headache. After a while you get use to it, but I usually kept the t-tops off to get rid of the smell.
This video dope asf
awesome we did a rb30de swap on my friend 84 300zx turbo.. And added a supercharger. stock motor it made like 384 at 12 psi was surprised
Such a good idea, haven't seen this before.
Always loved the 300zxs
such a beautiful car
Reason y i love RB's
Love your videos as usual! Found it funny I heard you say in the video if the japanese have a muscle car it would be the 300Z, but you said the same thing in the previous video with the 350Z Haha.
650hp, some forged stuffs going on in that rb
looks and sounds clean!
Awesome car!
I love the 300z. The interior with gauge cluster and center console flow is brilliant. But no room with a tt stock engine and pain it the ass to work on. When I worked for Nissan I whould give the new guys 4 mins to find washer fluid fill. No one found it in the trunk
I know some one with a 300zx with a rb30 and a 800hp at the rear wheels. Rips parts and percision turbo. Triple clutch setup
Hood Exits On street Cars are just silly to me 😕 much rather a nice sounding & looking exhaust out the back... way cleaner but good swap 👌👌
He did that for weight savings and easier access when he goes to race. Most of the time he keeps the street exhaust on.
I like hood exit exhaust in my opinion hell I have one in my FC RX7 with simple bolt ons she spits flames(Turbo II engine) idk I'm a big fan of it
@@YoBoyNero I like it on dedicated track cars not street cars (and to the other comments yes I read that you guys said he has a street exhaust as well which I saw after watching the entire video) I just like street cars to be as road worthy as possible while being fast & clean.. I'm just ocd I guess 🤷♂️
I wish my focus ST revved like that...sounds bad ass!
I love everything about it except for the hood exhaust. Otherwise it is awesome.
@@panagiotisf7228 He just don't like dying from exhaust fumes yu silly
My thought exactly. You can only drive for like 50miles till it’s lights out permanently lol

Carbon monoxide poisoning:
Symptoms: Frontal headache within one to two hours = 400 ppm (0.04)
Exposures at 100 ppm or greater is dangerous to human health.
