Just found your video, great information. Every couple of years I research my husband’s G(c5) grandfather of the NY 74th Infantry. Frederick Garnett was one of the officers of the 74th injured at Gettysburg just north of the Peach Orchard. Your video comes the closest to letting me know what he may have went through there. Thank you for your excellent explanation of what happened here. Next summer we are planning to visit Gettysburg.
Awesome! Great, Great video! I need to go back soon. Headed in DC in February so May hit Gettysburg again. This is one of most favorite places. Awesome job as always brother! Keep them coming!
I absolutely love Gettysburg. This was my first time and I definitely need to go back sometime soon. As always, thanks for the support and taking the time to watch.
You continue to enlighten us with excellent videos and historic facts. You interchanging historic maps with actual video of the locations present appearance makes your videos a must see. I put you right up there with the Historic Traveler as excellent presenters and UA-camrs. I have saved every one of your Project Past videos. Keep up the great work.
Really appreciate the kind words and I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos. Many more videos on the way! The History Traveler has some great content.
Another great video!! I overlooked and/or rushed so many different sites and monuments when I was out there a couple years ago. Videos like this make me want to go back and take a closer look. Thank you for this video and keep up the good work🇺🇸
Thanks man! So many stories within this massive battle. I really enjoy finding these unique regiments or stories and sharing them. Little puzzle pieces that make up the entire battle. Glad to hear you’re enjoying them!
Another excellent video, thanks! I plan on making a trip to Gettysburg in May or June and your videos provide ideas for places to stop off the normal tour stops.👍
The Mississippi monument at the spot where they launched their attack is one of the most captivating in the park. The painting of Barksdale, hat off and using it to wave his men forward during the attack is also an inspirational piece. If your videos had by their title ( Union Perspective) then I would not leave comments. However, there’s a need for glaring omissions, etc. to be called out when no such explanation is in the title.
It literally says the 73rd NY infantry in the title and I went over their actions and why I covered them. The video description also explains we are walking in the footsteps of the 73rd NY. You’ll find in my videos I often show the perspectives of both armies the best I can. I agree with you on the monument. It’s beautiful. However at the time of this video I didn’t have the time to visit that portion of the battlefield.
@@ProjectPast1565 Well, hey, obviously your ancestors were Union men. Obviously, mine were not. Mine were all with Tennessee units and none were with Lee, always in the Army of Tennessee. I wish you well.
To my knowledge today, I don’t have any ancestors in the Union or Confederacy. I just love learning about military history. I touched on the Army of the Tennessee in my Franklin and Nashville videos. The 3rd Florida has a company from my current home in St Augustine.
I've watch this before James... once again, a fantastic presenation on your behalf. Focus this time on the 73 NY revealing FIRERY stuff I would have never known. It was interesting to me that Sickles was actually trying to avoid the same mistake that he foresaw and warned about in Chancellorville just before Gettysburg. I thought he was just an arrogant idiot... still a mistake that was a disastor but at least there is a little understanding to the move. Thanks again... yours, Carson
My great great great uncle Captain Wesley Mellard Co H 13th Mississippi Infantry Barksdales brigade CSA fought at the Peach Orchard July 2 1863 near Gettysburg A sad and a terrible day for both sides 😢
@ProjectPast1565 You're Welcome In the words of General Robert E Lee It is well that war is so terrible We should grow too fond of it Thanks for your programs
Loving this series. Love that monument. When i get there next year, i will look for that monument
It’s right at the Peach Orchard.

The Peach Orchard must of had some very colorful brigades during the battle.
The Zouaves are always sticking out like a sore thumb. But I love their style
Great Video, really enjoying the channel.
Thank you! More on the way! Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.

I was naturally drawn to this unit due to their connections to the fire service. Their story is really interesting!
