    Great video Joel 👍🏻 👏 . A great day was had and look forward to doing it again in the future. It is great seeing our car go through the water from the outside. Who says you need to be lifted to have fun. 😄

    Would of enjoyed taking my Landy through that lot if I could of made it.
    Next time.

    I own Freelander 2 from 2011 to the present. Mileage 190 thousand kilometers. This is the best car in its class. Thank you English for the Land Rover.

    That white facelift model is looking awesome
    Any idea which mags those are and how many inches the car has been lifted?

    Bought my first Landrover this year 2013 SD4 HSE lux I live out in the sticks of North Wales .. so impressed with the car wish I’d bought one years ago. I wonder if in standard form like mine it could have followed you across the plane?

      You Absolutely could yes! Two of the vehicles out of the 5 were stock standard! And in other videos of mine there are other standard vehicles too! 😁👍🚜

      Gw, mine's the grey one with the orange strap on the back. Apart from underbody protection and AT tyres it's standard. No lift or anything.

    Amazing that old dinosaurs are back roaming the plains. Anyway it keeps them from littering the hard shoulders on trunk roads.

    Years ago whilst a member of the Hants & Berks Land Rover Club ,we marshalled the MOD ,and at night time we stayed at "Rollstone Camp , Un beknown to us the MOD had speed limits where the MOD law brigade could Nick you ,and they were just rough gravel tracks -weird set up too

    • @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor
      @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor  Рік тому

      The speedlimit enforced by the MOD and Landmarc across the plain is 30mph. Though we were lucky to see 12mph during this trip! Slow and steady was the way forward for us! 😁👍🚜

    Joel, I have tried and failed to find the video regarding the mods to your FL2. How much lift have you added, please?

    • @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor
      @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor  Рік тому

      Hi Mark, it's available here:
      ua-cam.com/video/lEGza_sg8ZA/v-deo.html
      The total lift achieved by the MuddyMods Lift kit and the oversized tyres is about 3inches (some height has inturn been lost by the weight of other modifications such as the winch etc).

    Looking into green leaning , not sure what to start with a Freelander 1 or 2 ???? Any advice

    • @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor
      @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor  Рік тому

      Whats your plan, would the vehicle be a daily driver for commuting etc or a second vehicle exclusively for greenlaning and other hobbys?
      If a dedicated vehicle then picking up a cheap FL1 wouldn't be a bad move (leave some budget for a few modifications). Or if you're after a new daily driver then the FL2 hands down should be your go too! Its a baby rangerover inside, extremely comfortable and easy to drive, but when you get off tarmac it can easily hold its own (more so in my opinion than the FL1). It will all depend on budget, intended use and how much you want to do with it! Fire away if you've got any questions! 👍 You're also very welcome to join us in the Freelander 2 OffRoad Group on Facebook, great information and discussion to be had there. 👍

      @@JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor cheers Joel it’s going to be a third car so will have all the mods auto or manual???

    • @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor
      @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor  Рік тому

      Autoboxes on the FL2 are very nice to work with, particularly offroad. The argument, as you can imagine, is 6 one way, half a dozen the other, but personally I prefer the driving style required by the auto (slow crawling). The Manuals require a bit more momentum as 1st gear isnt quite low enough, the same issue with reverse.

      With good regular servicing they'll go for a very long time! Ensure its had its cambelt and waterpump done as that's a big expense and you should see them happily upto 200,000 miles or more. Im on 175,700 at present. Pleanty of folks with landys still going strong in that range. 👍

    Hi. I noted that you have Ariel mounts located on your front engine bonnet. Any chance you have a drawing of the part or who supplied it. I have had no luck finding this type of part. Cheers Bruce

      Hi Bruce, I'm afraid Im a little confused. None of us had Ariel's on our vehicles except on the roof?
      If you could maybe clarify which part of the video you mean I may be able to better explain what it is you're seeing. 👍🚜

      Mines on Yokohama Geolander G003 Mud Terrains on the front (until they wear out), and the rear is BFGoodrich KM3 Mud Terrains. Both lots are in 245/75/17 (31.5inch), will be BFG's all around before the end of the year I suspect. 👍🚜

      @@JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor I’ve got 17s on my freelander. Did you have to add spacers or do any adjustments to fit them on? Just brought the wife a a3 so I’m going to keep the freelander 2 as a toy for myself.

    • @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor
      @JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor  Рік тому

      Couple bits needed...
      • 40/50 lift kit (muddymods)
      • 30mm wheel spacers
      • Inner wheel arch work
      It's been done by a couple others since I fitted mine but its not a bolt on solution. 👍

    Used to love my Freelander 2
    Now I have been left very disappointed with it
    Now being forced to get rid of it asap!
    The haldex system has had pump problems that have caused the clutch pack to slip and apparently landrover stopped producing parts to repair it ( no OEM parts have been produced)
    So beware any clunking noise in the rear when reversing!

      Before you sell up it would certainly be worth contacting Bell Engineering (UK based). They would be good folks to give help, advice and potentially a solution!

      @@JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor thanks for the info, but I took it to tes- transmission specialists in Westbury that do a lot of landrovers... Apparently they're not always reliable 🤪🤣
      And they knew all about the issue and yeah basically came out and said that's it, part ex it in so it can go off to auction 😭 I've spent more on maintenance and repairs
      Than the cars worth now
      So yeah no more landrovers ever unfortunately
      Been well and truly burnt
      But thoroughly enjoy your content and will continue to watch your adventures!
