I feel like it’s always better (for me anyway) to wait til I can see a product in person. For some reason, it’s easier for me to justify $60 for a product online, vs if I go into store, look at it, touch it, and THEN say “Do I really want to spend 60 whole dollars on this???”... 9 out of 10 times, I don’t.
I wish i had that option, probably wouldn't buy 50% of the stuff I own now if that was the case 😂 but I live in the middle of nowhere with practically no makeup stores 😭 the amount of wrong foundation shades I had to try and work with is insane 😂😂
Makeup always seems so much more exciting online, but then when I go to look at it in person I realise that it's just makeup and totally not worth it. 😅
I like the Carli Bybel palette but agreed on the others. I LOVE my Jackie Aina palette although I don't use it very much because I don't want to use it all lol 😅
I went to Sephora fully intending to buy a Cover FX blush duo. I swatched all the shades in store...and walked away. Despite all the hype, I couldn’t find one that I liked on me, and I just couldn’t justify the price to try a hyped formula in colors that looked wrong on me. I had heard great things, but every single duo looked too warm for my skin tone. I walked over to the Kosas display, found a blush/highlighter duo in a much more flattering shade for my coloring, and bought it on the spot. And this one, I love. I’m so glad I didn’t just fall for hype and buy the blush everyone raves about when a better one for me was just around the corner. 🥰
I remember forever I wanted that Anastasia palette everyone had (modern renaissance) because I kept seeing all the looks on UA-cam but every time I saw it in store it just didn’t speak to me
Last year I bought the vault they had with 4 eyeshadows and one of them was the modern renaissance, and I was super excited to get it but once I saw it I was so disappointed. One pallet I stand by from ABH is the Sultry (my favorite).
I think Bare Minerals is an underrated not so flashy brand, but they're quality. I know Temptalia used to rate their pressed eyeshadows consistently as some of her favorites.
I went to Sephora with every intention of buying that Pat McGrath Holiday eyeshadow quad with the light green shade. It looked so pretty in the promotional swatch pictures. When I swatched it, it was a glittery mess that immediately got all over me, my sweater and my coat. I tried to clean it off with 2 different kinds of makeup remover they had sitting out. I swear I was finding glitter the next day. I bought another Natasha Denona mini palette instead and don’t regret a thing.
What an interesting video concept. Where I live, it's very difficult to see things in a store. I either have to travel an hour and a half to a larger city, or buy something similar that's drugstore. Or take a risk and buy it online. I envy anyone who has access to makeup at their fingertips.
Henschke007 - I actually live in NYC and have easy access to makeup and yet hardly ever go to the store. There are so many people I trust with their reviews and swatches online these days that I feel comfortable buying lots of things online. Besides Angie, Mel Thompson, Kelsee Brianna and a few other youtubers, I check everything out with Temptalia too!
I can't get to the store so I watch alot of swatch videos or videos with people using the product so I can see how it performs. So far, that's worked out pretty well for me. I rarely end up buying anything I don't love.
I can't see anything in person either. There's no sephora, no Ulta, no traditional drug stores. I have to order online, have it shipped to my mom in the states, and then she ships it to me... So it's gotta be suuuuper worth it!
I love hearing what made you change your mind when you saw the products in person, this is such a fun idea! It helps a lot to go to store and see things in front of you, I was intrigued by the Pat Mcgrath nocturnal nirvana quad but when I swatched it in a Sephora store I was so glad I didn’t order it online, so underwhelming, but could also be because indie brands have set a new standard when it comes to eyeshadows and formulas 🙌🏻
I did the same thing with her quads. I'd never seen a Pat McGrath eyeshadow in real life or purchased one, and now I'm wondering what the hype is for, especially the "special transition" shades which were IN the quads. 🤨 Glad I never bothered.
I have done something similar recently. Was milling around Sephora and saw a sample out for the Bomb Baby set by Fenty. Never been interested in these products but there it was, so I gave it a swipe. Hu$tla Baby is gorgeous. I have very textured skin and most highlighers accentuate it, but this one melts in and gives a soft, buildable glow. No glitter chunks either. I never finish highlighters, so the tiny size is perfect for me. The gloss is a bonus too. Will definitely get this set again, once I run out. Tried the 2.0 set, but that highlighter is too dark for me. It would definitely suit medium skin tones though.
I think this is a great video because it’s a nice reminder that sometimes the way things are photographed or appear on others, just don’t workout for ourselves and that’s okay. It’s also super cool when the reverse happens!
This made me smile because it shows how people can be SO different; Mercury Retrograde is the only big/full sized Huda palette I have bought, and I love it. 🙂 I have as many eyeshadow palettes as UA-camrs, with many that I still haven’t used, and keep reaching for Retrograde! Hehehe
False Nostalgia - Shannon me too I have more makeup than some you tubers/creators!! My only huda palette is the mauve obsessions but I don’t think it was anything special!! I do keep thinking about this damn retrograde palette every month when I know I get a nice chunk of change to spend on myself!!!
*Angie! I, too, had no intention of buying a Huda Beauty lip strobe but when I saw 'Snobby' I FELL IN LOVE. I sometimes tap it onto my cheekbones on days I don't wear foundation and it looks beautiful as a highlighter, too! I have the same weakness you do, for peachy pink duochrome products!*
I totally agree about the KK lipsticks! I was so ready to buy a lipstick and lip liner but I hated all the nudes. I dont like an overly peachy nude and to me they were all pale peach! Love the lip liner tho!
I also hate nudes that pull peachy! I find that many colors others describe as the perfect nude are very peachy. The Wet n Wild liquid catsuit lip gloss in Send Nudes is always mentioned as being the perfect nude, but it’s very peachy. If anyone thinks the same and has found a perfect nude, please tell me!😅
@@ShanrellsStash Are you looking for gloss? I agree, in the package, the pictures for Send Nudes look pink, but the swatches pull peach D: Caught You Bare Naked is like concealer lips, but a better tone.
Omg yes! I thought it was just me. I feel SO bad leaving a store without buying something. Especially when I went there with the intention of getting a product! 🙈
Yes. I went and saw the fenti eye shadows in store as well and they also seemed sub par to me. I wasn’t impressed so I left without them. Also, seeing the bigger norvina palettes in person made me realize I don’t need it. I don’t like big palettes anyway. No idea why I ever thought I would want them. Haha
Great video, this could be a series. I hardly get to swatch in store. I mostly order online, it's always a gamble. I bought the joy highlighter cuz u recommend it. I love it. I put it on top of a cream apricot blush and got lots of compliments from friends.
I was OBSESSED with the new Natasha Denona Love Glow palette, and I swatched it in store just now, intending to buy it using a gift card and it is NOT for me. The pink diamond powder I couldn’t get a color from, just silver glitter, and no pink! And the orangey one is very pretty, but kind of chunky for a face product. The same happened with the Fenty mini palettes in the pastel - there was no pigment on my skintone!
Angelica you my dear make me So very happy. No matter how sad, or unwell, or how bad my pain is. I put your videos on & you bring me a joy from within. Your personality is so uplifting. And woman, my god how I am OBSESSED! with every single eye look you do. I'm sincere from the heart. my lord, your eye look is so darn beautiful. ty for not Bullshitting us EVER. and for making such comforting videos. Your very easy on the eyes which is a bonus😉 Have a wonderful night, day. whatever time you got across the pond. 😘
I have mixed feelings when I go in to buy something but then I don't like it when I see it in real life. The good feeling beeing having that money still on me ;)
This is a fun video idea. I never get to swatch things because I live in a very rural, small town. To go to Sephora or Ulta I have to drive an hour. I have a very small crappy Walmart & a couple drugstores, but you can't swatch things there, unfortunately ☹️
First! It happen to me at sephora. I made my mind and I went there to buy a Becca highlighter. I swatched them. They look very powdery and glittery. Didn't understand why everybody likes them. Maybe I just need to try them on my face... I was so sad!
I have a mini of champagne pop and to be honest i dont really care for it either and dont understand why people act like its the greatest thing on the planet
I didn't see the point until I got a gift w purchase of the opal. Somehow any glitter just looks like my natural texture in a good way?? But I fully support your decision! ♡♡♡
It’s crazy how makeup can look so awesome and exciting online, and then it looks average when you see the product in store. The opposite happened to me with Inglot actually, I wasn’t looking to buy anything from them and then I swatched the black gel liner 😍 I knew I needed it. It’s GREAT
I love this video idea!!! I do lots of browsing online for makeup but its always nice to check out the formula/color in store first. It definitely makes me change my mind a lot!
absolutely love neon pinks on myself. they can be tricky to pull off though as without liner and lashes they can make the eyes look sick but I do wear three coats of extreme volume mascara. I miss wearing my neon pinks
For another topic, products I never would have purchased if Angelica had not talked about them, thank you for mentioning the Pixi by Petra Face Quads. I didn’t even know they existed and probably would have never seen them. After you spoke about them, I looked for them in Target. They didn’t have them in store, but they did have them online. I got the lighter one and used it today. The bronzer seemed to pull a little pink on my skin (or maybe my brush was dirty). I need to try it again. The blush was beautiful and very pigmented. It blended well and I could easily make it work even on my very pale skin. Both highlighters were beautiful. One more champagne and the other a soft pink. Great product for a great price $16 and in the US we get 5% off and free shipping with a Target Card.
You have made me want a peachy highlighter and transparent base shifty shades, but I’m taking my time until I can look at some in person and see some swatches. I’m also honestly waiting until I get through some of my other highlights- some have pans so I’m not worried. I’m interested in the bare minerals highlight you showed us, and the makeup geek one and the Colourpop cruella one. If anyone has any of these please let me know how they are for pale skin!
Norvina is the only ABH palette that I returned. I was so disappointed because it looks so pretty and I love ABH eye shadows. So cool that your fiance cooks for you!! KKW Cherry Red lip stick is beautiful.I need to check out those Bare Mineral highlighters.
Oooooh!! That peachy pink duochrome from the ND palette is amazing! I caught that color right away! I don't own any ND, but this may sway me. That MAC lipstick you showed? I picked up DGAF and I adore this color, the wear of it, the softness of it and will repurchase if I get low on it. DGAF is awesome! I have felt guilty going into a store intending on purchasing something and then walking out with empty hands, lol. Life as we know it! LOL! Love the video, Angelica!
SAAAAAAME with fenty! :( i was prepared to buy at least 2 but seeing them in person i was like "meh". i *was* umming and ahhhing at the cadet palette but i couldn't bring myself to drop £20 on it when i already have the subculture palette :/
ABH Norvina - is my favourite palette, among all. It became my favourite since I bought it straight after its release, and I still love it, even after buying more palettes ))
I did that with the Stila happy hour eyeshadow palette. I went into Ulta to buy it, swatched it, some of the shades (one more so then the others) would not swatch no matter how hard I pressed. I decided i did not need the palette after all 😬 it was a shame, the color story was really beautiful.❤❤❤
I also had a similar experience with those Huda Lip Strobes. I wasn’t a big gloss girl then but swatching them in store I had to pick one up. Now I’m almost out of it. XD It’s a beautiful formula and thanks to it I loooove a glossy lip now. 💖
Love this video idea!!! Can’t wait to see more in this series. I just went into ulta swearing I was going to buy a Kylie bullet lipstick and morphe bullet lipstick, and decided against it after swatching. In the past I did that with the fenty lipgloss, I think I’m the only one who doesn’t like how thick the formula is.
same i was so sure about buying a small palette from Fenty but when I swatched them they were so dry the shimmers totally not like the highlighters somehow they don't have a creamy formula and they were soo lackluster
I had no desire to get the UD Born to Run palette until I swatched it. I'm definitely a swatcher. 90% of the time, I won't buy something I haven't swatched.
Yes, I've swatched and decided not to buy. It was a few years ago and me and my husband was on holiday i San Francisco and our busy schedule didn't give me any time shopping. So the last day, before we had to go to the airport, I hurried to ULTA (my first visit ever at ULTA) so I could buy the NikkieTutorials and Too Faced collab. Swatched it and... was so underwhelmed! I decided not to buy it and was sad that I didn't at the same time as I was happy I hadn't wasted my money.
I remember when Fenty`s Diamond bomb came out, everyone was reviewing it and raving about it, people still do. I went to Sephora with intention to buy it, MULTIPLE times, and every time I would stare at that swatch on my hand and think: "really, that`s it?!?!" I don`t get the hype. The thing that shocked me positively after I swatched it was Zoeva Melody palette, it looks so bland and boring, swatches online even look ugly to be honest, but omg in person, it`s stunning. Shimmers are so smooth, yet sparkly, yet duchromey, such a great palette actually.
There's so much glitter in her highlights! I'm so glad I swatched them in person before everyone hyped them up. I even went back to swatch them again, and I still hated it. Money saved!
Great video idea, and I'm currently sick so this got me out of bed haha! 😅 And I totally feel you with having just one product from the range sometimes makes it more special and precious. 🙂
I wanted to buy the Carli Bybel ABH palette and collection. But seeing and swatching it in store made me realize I'm not interested in any of the matte colours (I either have something similar, or don't see myself using that colour). I loved the shimmers and the packaging, but couldn't justify the price when only one of the mattes spoke to me.
I think I am more the type that buys things and then finds out later that I don't like it or it doesn't work for me. Maybe if I shopped more in-store I could avoid this happening lol. I have been contemplating the CoverFx blue duos for a while now and I think I am going to pick one up soon. I hope this one works out.
Cool video!! Really enjoyed it. I think if I was able to swatch more products in store, I'd probably make different decisions too - but it's hard when there's no Sephora/Ulta or similar nearby. (I'm in the UK.) Although Boots is now starting to stock way more makeup brands.
I do à lot of online shopping, I think swatching would sometimes make me not want to buy a palette anymore. Unfortunately, in Germany new things often need way too much time to come to the store - if they do at all. I often wait for reviews, make my mind and purchase the items after some thinking time
I didn't buy any of ABH palettes, although I really wanted to and swatched them each time I traveled to the city/country where they are in stores. All of them (I mean those old school 14-pan palettes) are too warm for me.
I feel GREAT when I go to a store thinking 'I want this, and this, and this...' and then as soon as I swatch I'm like 'NOOOOOOPE, nevermind!' I feel powerful. XD I already went a couple of times at some makeup stores to swatch and I was annoyed by the quality of the products: too big glitters, too sheer, too boring... online they can make everything look amazing, but in real life they can do only so much. And I'm an aware makeup buyer now, I won't be fooled. I keep feeling on the fence for KVD. I saw these weird autumn like lipsticks but I didn't like the matte classic ones and also I already had the colors I wanted (the green teal and the yellow marigold) but I still feel tempted, that's annoying! Come on, I have those shades! I bet it's just because the packaging and the fact they are new. If I had them at my Sephora I would just have to swatch them with the lipsticks I already have to see I don't need them, but since the store doesn't have them I keep feeling tempted, uuuugh!
I don't own a lot of makeup but when I want something, I obsessively research it, watching so many reviews and looking at so many photos. And then when I see it in-store it's just... not for me. Well, at least I get to save money?
I love that you did this because I totally feel it. There’s been so many times I want something and then I swatch it and I’m like oh hell no or the opposite when I didn’t want something and I swatched it and I was like oh hell yes LOL so this is perfect! Damn our indecisive woman brains haha
Elf has some eye shadow palettes for $3.00 that look better than the Fenty ones! Also, I was at Macy's in SF and saw the bare Minerals highlighter nd bought it! I love it and can't believe more people are not talking about it!
Norvina palette is my fave (and only one I bought so far) ABH palette too :) A palette where I actually do like every single color, more or less, but its not like usually you only like a few and then some you know you wont use so its kind of a waste. Its not the best or most perfect palette ( ahem because these are my own z palettes fulla good stuff lol) but its nice and I enjoy using it every now and then. Its a nice addition to my singles collection. For someone who loooooves eyeshadows and seen and used a lot and prefers singles its saying a lot if I did end up buying a pre made one lol. Norvina is one of the 2 I did end up buying. The second one is Too Faced OG chocolate bar ( I like browns there and golds but it has more duds then norvina pallete but oh well, its kind of an icon).
Sadly it was Melt Muerte & Vida palettes. It was so dry and that hard pan green 😢 I know that sitting out and left open on the display could do that, but my mind could not overcome the swatches.
I end up doing that with nail polish and lip colors I need to figure out how to tell lip formulas in store without buying them 😅 could be I just not reading the packages but I got a few that were not what I thought they’d be
Zero chance to swatch something new and exciting in the stores where I live😂 Yeah, I feel very awkward exiting the store without purchase after spraying almost the entire collection of perfume on blotters and having half of the sales ladies encouraging me to try more. And then in airport duty free having 5 sec before boarding the plane I manage to find the perfume of my dreams😂
I love the pairing of your makeup and top. I have the Mac Love Me Lipstick in Mon Coeur but I prefer the Cremesheen (Hot Gossip) as it seems to be a creamier formula. I hope memory serves me correctly since I purchased the Cremesheen one last year. Enjoy your day. :)

I agree. Now I almost never buy online tbh.

Josey that's rough! I live in a city now, but I'm from a small town, so I feel that!
Karolyn Anderson You are exactly right! Everything looks good online!
Makeup always seems so much more exciting online, but then when I go to look at it in person I realise that it's just makeup and totally not worth it. 😅
Lucky! Haha
I didn’t buy the ABH Amrezy , Carli Bybel, or Alyssa Edwards palettes after I saw them in store. IMO last good one was ABH Jackie Aina
Jackie Greene I felt the same way about all of these pallets! I thought I wanted them until I saw them, especially the Carli Bybel one.
I saw videos about the Carli Bybel palette and thought 'meh' & when I swatched it out I fell in love!
I like the Carli Bybel palette but agreed on the others. I LOVE my Jackie Aina palette although I don't use it very much because I don't want to use it all lol 😅
The JA was the last one I liked and bought too. I didn’t like the giant Norvinas either.
@@kimmyhurst6990 Use it! You will regret it more if it goes bad on you in two years. And you can find indie dupes of any shades you use up! 😊🌸💚

Paige S exactly! Something can be a great product but doesn’t suit you. And it’s so hard to see tones online, every photo had different lighting.
So smart!!

@Lindsey Bailes I am light to medium skin tone. Can you suggest me a color?
It’s crazy how makeup can look so awesome and exciting online, and then it looks average when you see the product in store.
The opposite happened to me with Inglot actually, I wasn’t looking to buy anything from them and then I swatched the black gel liner 😍 I knew I needed it. It’s GREAT
I went to Ulta to buy the Amreezy palette and I went and bought the Riviera Palette instead, sometimes it does make a big difference😘😍
The colours your wearing look so beautiful together!!! Your eye for colour is always so refreshing!!!
Great topic. I can relate for sure. Seeing photos and then either deciding to get it or not get it when you see it in person.
Great video concept, really enjoyed watching! 👏👏
I’m with you I didn’t think any of the colors of the lip colors from KKW flattered me either.
Jaz Helton the Bare minerals Joy highlighter is sooooo pretty. I have pale skin and so long as I buff it out I’m fine as a highlighter
I had almost talked myself out of the natasha denona cranberrry palette and then you swatched that duochrome!😍
Love this video concept! I find if I see an eyeshadow palette in store with too much glitter that turns me off but it’s hard to see that online.
Love this video idea! Really tempted to get that huda beauty gloss...
same i was so sure about buying a small palette from Fenty but when I swatched them they were so dry the shimmers totally not like the highlighters somehow they don't have a creamy formula and they were soo lackluster
Loved this video, great idea! I have a minimal makeup collection, so I always go and see things in store to be completely sure about what I'm buying
MAC Laissez Faire Love Me lipstick is one of my favorite lipsticks ever!!
Great video idea, and I'm currently sick so this got me out of bed haha! 😅 And I totally feel you with having just one product from the range sometimes makes it more special and precious. 🙂
I was hoping you were going to put the Huda Snobby gloss on over your lips, it looked like it would compliment your outfit! 💗
I LOVE this video idea, so fun. Totally agree about the kkw lipsticks 😬
Wow, I feel like you can pull off lip colors that few people can! I’ve seen you in yellow lipstick and now this bright pink and you never look bad.🤗
I love you, I felt the same about the new Fenty eye pallettes, what a disappointment!!
I also really think the Fenty palettes looks boring and yes they look like e.l.f palettes acually😆
I am totally agree with you.I changed my mind after buying some of or went to buy but didn't like and didn't buy.
I love this makeup look with that top ❤
It was the same for me with the Fenty palettes
Sadly it was Melt Muerte & Vida palettes. It was so dry and that hard pan green 😢 I know that sitting out and left open on the display could do that, but my mind could not overcome the swatches.
I will wait for the abh amrezy palette at tj maxx tbh 🤣🤣
Hi Angie! How would you compare bare minerals Joy vs Makeup Geek Psychadelic?
What a great video idea. Series, series, series!
I love this video, so happy you made a part two ❤️
I end up doing that with nail polish and lip colors I need to figure out how to tell lip formulas in store without buying them 😅 could be I just not reading the packages but I got a few that were not what I thought they’d be
Your eyeshadow is gorgeous. I love the shimmery pink shade. N the lips compliment your eyes gorgeously.
If I come to the store and ending not buying - I actually feel good 😂
Figurista - Девушка с формами
Same !
You are the only person who sells me huda 😂 love the look, is the one you made with the amrezy palette, right?
I felt the exact same way about natasha dedona duo highlighter.
I had the same intention w the Natasha Denona Highlight duo. It's bad and it's half off at Sephora now. They cannot give it away 😆
I would’ve thought that Kim k wouldn’t bring out white based lipsticks since she’s so tanned!
What a hidden (at least to me) treasure that Bare Minerals highlighter is!
Your makeup and top look gorgeous together 🧚🏽👩🏻🎤
Zero chance to swatch something new and exciting in the stores where I live😂
Yeah, I feel very awkward exiting the store without purchase after spraying almost the entire collection of perfume on blotters and having half of the sales ladies encouraging me to try more. And then in airport duty free having 5 sec before boarding the plane I manage to find the perfume of my dreams😂
Happens to me a lot too
I really like this kind of video. It’s so different.
Hiiiii Angie
I love the pairing of your makeup and top. I have the Mac Love Me Lipstick in Mon Coeur but I prefer the Cremesheen (Hot Gossip) as it seems to be a creamier formula. I hope memory serves me correctly since I purchased the Cremesheen one last year. Enjoy your day. :)
Such a fantastic video idea!!! ❤️
love this concept!
What eyeshadow r u wearing?
Anti-haul Angie said I told you so😂
