Steph, I must say, this is what makes you a great You Tuber. Finding rare classics and interviewing their owners. It shows you've done your homework. Happy to learn about Jill's successful MOT. Take care and keep up the good work! Would really want to hug you for all the work you've done to make your channel a success and make it a pleasure for me to watch new vids you post.
Hi Steph, lucky you, it's very hard these day's to find a decent garage that you can trust. Sure we've all got nightmare stories of being taken for a ride in our past. I have to drive sixty miles to a workshop who looks after my baby but it's well worth it for pease of mind. My mechanic says most car's often need a couple of hundred quid to get through an Mot so hope Gills final bill isn't much more, brakes are obviously items that wear on any vehicle. Fingers crossed for Monday I'm sure she'll be fine.
They are out there, plenty of reputable people who not only know their way round classics but also.tend to have great knowledge & ability to source parts for our old cars. I'm incredibly lucky in that my friend & fellow Golf enthusiast has his garage a 15min walk from my house, always nice place to be with its selection of MK1 & 2 GTi golfs amongst whatever other stuff happens to be in for various work. Sandown Motors in heart of east Belfast, just tucked in out of the way like all the best kept secrets. You get what you pay for in life so when wee Jimmy who "used" to work for so and so "fixes " your car outside his house for a few quid don't be annoyed when you have to spend the correct money getting wee Jimmy's work fixed!
in 1988 i had a beige mini 1000,it was from 1974,from the off there was something strange about it,i bought it from a small garage in appleford nr oxon, after a couple of days i noticed it had no drip seams on the outside they had be removed and it was done very well too,i looked on the logbook for the previous owner,it was lady jane sarah armstrong,i think she"s some kind of royalist...great video by the way!!
Hi Garry, A mechanic back in 1973!, ah the days when cars were simple to fix and all looked beautiful, best time to be in the trade, I am restoring on my channel a 1974 Mk3 Ford Cortina, at a classic restoration garage like this one, super high end quality work, which I love doing.
@@Cortinaman63 yes cars in those days were great I used to look after a local doctors cars he had a mk1 escort rs 1600 twin cam in yellow so rare these days but I learned how to balance twin 40s so miss those day I'm working on my Austin allegro today modern cars are soul less
There's always surprises with older cars; you don't have to justify yourself to us!! :) Great to see all the work going back into getting Jill back on the road. Wonderful place, I didn't realise Little Garage Classics did so much. All the best Steph :)
Very interesting vid. Ed sounds like a straight up guy who is passionate and knowledgeable on classic cars. I remember taking a car with a carb. to a garage for a service, and you'd think I was asking him to look at the Flintstones car. Hope all's well with the MOT on Monday.
Nice to see a fellow metro owner, I have a mk2 austin metro L It is modified but I have all original factory spec parts for the car and also lots of original spares+ body panels as metro parts are now going up in value and increasingly harder to buy
Thanks for this episode.Ed is great. I bought some stuff from ADO equipment and was very pleased! And I love their sticker. As a former graphic designer, I really appreciate the art. I have their window sticker on my primrose Austin America, in Southern California. :-)
Total kudos to anyone who spends money to keep a classic going. The resale value of the car is neither here nor there, what has to be done has to be done. And if the car makes you happy and you identify with it, why the hell not? Jill's interior trim is the same colour as my bedroom so that sits well with me!
Love how you name the cars! My current V70 is called ‘Bev’ and she’s lovely. For a more modern car she really does have personality. Love Jill the Metro sooo much. Grew up with a Primula Yellow 1.3L Metro. Fantastic video and I thumbs up your videos even as they start and I’m never disappointed. You get sick of seeing Porsches and Lambos so this is lovely change. Keep up the excellent work
Hi Steph. Great video again. I love minis. My cousin has a MK1 she bought as a bare shell and she’s determined to do it all herself. Her brother gave her two very rusty clubmans so it’s going to be a mixture of bits. Her lifelong dream is to have a mini.
Good luck for the MOT and Roxy had hers a few weeks back and failed on the dreaded rust and UK rd salt is not help but she is 20yrs old and 30ish left on the rd and good garages and good parts is always a pain as I well remember when I owned a Stag I sort of miss it still
Steph, this is right in my neck of the woods. I'm surprised our paths haven't crossed. I might've once met Ed in the local Lidl car park a few years back. I was in my Dolomite at the time when it was still in a fetching shade of Russett (I think!). EDIT: I was at the caravan storage place making a caravan video and paid Ed a quick visit. He certainly LOVES his Classic Minis and told him about the 1978 Mini 850 (GJX 518S) I used to own in 1993.
Really like the vlog approach Steph. Ed has a wonderful setup there and good luck to him with his business ventures. And good luck to Jill for her MOT. Fingers crossed.
Oh no - another cut and paste from me.... "great video Steph, still one of my favourite channels!" :-) I mean that - always look forward to the new vids.
Very interesting Steph. Can't believe you don't like Minis. 1st car didn't last long so technically my 2nd. January 1968 I bought my Mini (see video of the few photos) on finance from a dealer....never again. It was 1961 and in a poor state. Carl, who lived in my small village later becoming my great friend and mentor, rebuilt the engine when a valve insert broke 6 weeks after I bought it. It was tuned by him, about as fast as a Mini Cooper. No speed limits then out of town so I drove around Lincolnshire at 70mph. Making me the first 'boy racer in a Mini'.....true.
Oh my god.....I'm thinking of bringing Slack Alice (my car) over from West Ireland for Ed ❤️........wait.......damn it - Slack Alice is a 06 Clio so too new.....bugger 😂 good luck with Jill's MOT Steph 😀
I can really tell your Metro is an '80s European car with that reddish-brown interior. In a Japanese or American car with a dark brown interior the seat fabric might be that color but the dash plastics would be more of a chocolate brown.
Good video Steph! Nice to see Jill, even if it was very brief! And very nice to see you! Buses are great, when you're driving them! I'm not so keen on being a bus passenger! Would you care to try a bus? :-)
Did it really came by it’s wheels all the way to Portugal from South Africa? There’s a large Portuguese community in South Africa that was established about 5 decades ago, but many came back in the beginning of the century.
Hi,nice vid. will your mini be mot tax exempt soon. Mine is reg dec 82,i,m hoping for cheaper motoring in a couple of years.ps i,ve always found mot,s a pain. Thanks
When the larger bills come in on a car like Jill, you have to weigh that against the alternatives, such as the monthly finance and huge depreciation on a modern car. Then you realise what a bargain classic motoring is. But seriously, you NEED to experience a good Mini, as NOTHING compares to it.
Ed. What a spot on bloke. Faith in humanity temporarily restored :) Good work, Steph. Keep the beautiful souls coming :)

Liked the different direction of this video. Look forward to hearing about how the MOT went! All the best Steph!

Love garages like this. Thanks for posting!
Great little video Steph it’s great to see these little garages working on classic cars and good luck tomorrow for you and Jill 🤞🏼x
Ed is so handsome btw 😍👍🏼😎👌🏼
"It's not something I usually do." Nice change of pace. And generous of you to give Ed the spotlight he doubtless deserves.
Great episode! I like seeing the back story to cars, as well as the owner experience.
Great vid steph that garage takes me back to my first job as a mechanic in 1973 just fantastic

@@garrysimpson4791 Ah great your an Allegro fan!, I remember them on the roads, nice little car,
you have found the best guy to look after your car 35,000 miles in 2 years that some motoring
I know that feeling, always dread MOT day, but better safe than sorry. Great blog good idea well done. 👏👏
Lovely video and Ed is cute 😊
Fantastic little garage. And fantastic video 👍
A really great vid Steph, I love the way that you are both so enthusiastic about once ordinary every cars which are now classics! 😊

Wow! Ed! 😍
I’m originally from South Africa too! The cars rarely rust out there so lovely to see that Mini here 😎😍
The ups and downs when owning a classic .

Glad you got your car fixed a little bit of history of the garage that does the work exelent. I hope you she passes her MOT 😀😃
This is a nice and proper garage.
nice minis and i like the maroon mini.
👍👍👍 keep up the good work
I think it's brilliant you're keeping Jill in tip-top form. Why was this more interesting than a Lamborgini video?
Yay, at 1.13 secs you're in a lovely Morris Minor! :-)
Awesome video thank you

[sings] She's coming home, she's coming...
Jill is coming home!
I love Minis, especially the Mk1 - but I knew nothing at all about the Innocenti. 👍🏼
What a fantastic car and movie

Steph there are no garage mechanics anymore they are all talantless motor technicians !! Alan C.
In the 1990s my ex girlfriend Jill had a 1982 Austin Metro that I did a lot of work on.
Bloody hell he’s hot Steph! Keep up your fabulous videos; loving your content!

Hi Steph, did Jill pass her MOT.What had to be replaced?
Oh Jesus it was a bit of a list but she’s sorted now! I’ll cover it in Q&A next Wednesday 😂
Were you in the Sheffield area on Sunday afternoon with this? I'm sure I saw this Metro, or at least a near identical one, around 2pm near Meadowhead.
I have some of those diecast models.
as of 2020 there are only 14 Austin Ambassadors left on the road in the uk

Hey Steph, nice vid. Surprises me you're not a fan of minis. Is there any particular reason? Just interested is all :)
Ed looks like a young Ed China
