I loved your Warsaw video and the Krakow video was fantastic as well! Krakow is very much a fairytale-like city. The grand old town market square is my favorite in Europe (it is the biggest old town market square in Europe; Sukennice, the building in the middle of the square used to serve as a cloth market for traders from near and far.)
Maybe the mystical chakra point of energy that is supposedly located on the Wawel Castle hill gives off that special energy. Seriously though, Krakow was inscribed on the first ever Unesco World Heritage list back in 1978 and it definitely deserves that honor.
You mentioned something regarding the mountains in the distance. Yes, on a clear day you can see the majestic Tatra Mountains from one of four Krakow mounds (I think the best view is from the Pilsudski Mound.) The mounds are definitely worth climbing just to at least enjoy great views of Krakow. Krakus Mound is of a mysterious ancient origin. The other mounds are much newer.
And a few days spent in the Tatra Mountains are a must, too. Gorgeous Alpine-like scenery. There are other beautiful mountain ranges, besides Tatra Mountains, in southern Poland as well.
Btw, the Wawel Cathedral dome you referred to is covered in gold.
Also, there are many more beautiful streets and places in Krakow to explore... if you only had more time.😊 There are also numerous gorgeous underground cellar bars and restaurants. Krakow was built up over the centuries. Therefore, many of ground level entrances used to be actually upper floors centuries ago. In fact, there is an underground museum under the old town market square. Some years ago the area under the market square underwent archeological excavations and is now a museum.
Hope you get to go back to Poland in the future as there is just so much more to explore there. For example, the stunning city of Gdansk is now hosting its annual St. Dominic's Fair dating back to 1260. The fair used to attract around 400 ships from the Baltics and beyond.
I never been to Krakow or Warsaw but I was born in Poznan and been living in Gilbert AZ for over 20 years. I am glad you have enjoyed your stay!
I think Cracow and Prague are similar in theirs unique beauty and deep history and many hidden gems. Both cities worth spending time
