I love that you willing to work for fish! The conditions you do do to bring us content is so much appreciated! I appreciate your videos and all you put into it. Nothing like feeling the tug and those two rainbows were nice fish. Thanks so much for sharing & congrats on nice catches with limited tackle 👍🏽🎣👍🏽🎣
Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate you watching so much of my content because I really enjoy making it. Yeah, If I catch something decent I don't care how cold it is!
its supposed to snow up in mountains this week a few days. Thanks for the great videos what size crappie jigs do i need to get ive never used them before usually i just use power bait or worms but want to try sum other things looks fun as hell!!! I have arthritis so i cant hike to far after this storm im going back to icehouse ill try casting closer to shore by those rocks they had some picnic tables down that trail 2 i read that the campsites will b closed this season at icehouse working on them probably making more sites so they can get more money. Maybe i can have a friend bring a boat and go to where the water inlet is coming in 2. I just enjoy getting out but have a better time if i catch something!!! I love cruising around up at all those lakes on my enduro bike 2 weather permitting. I could drive around the closed gate on my bike heehe to get to that union valley dam area. Have u tried the smaller lakes up there like gerlie creek or wrights lake i do have a couple kayaks
@@wildernesswithamani1027 thanks amani keep warm a storm a comin. gonna hit icehouse ina few days see if any more snow hit up there i got sum diff jigs at walmart i will try and im gonna take worms and power bait
Winter won't give it up! I like Winter fishing but I'm at a point this year when I'm ready to start hiking and fishing in the back country and this cold weather just keeps pushing it farther away!
You got some that is all that counts, your videos never disappoints, are you going to throw some lures as well, or you just have better luck with bait. In the motherlode, small crappie jigs and small ned worms have been killing it. Plus when you coming to the Sac River stripers running right now👍👊🎣
I'll get some lure fishing going when it warms up a bit. When it's cold like now, bait fishing from shore is effective and super easy. Man. I haven't been Striper fishing in years. If I can get things rolling between the two platforms I post on I might just have to hit that action up some day. More time to go places is what I need. Right now I'm getting ready to hit the Eastern Sierra and Tahoe area lakes and backcountries hard as this snow melts. Going on a scouting mission to the Eastern Sierra very soon.
Check out my 'lakes and reservoirs' and 'backcountry lakes and creeks playlists' and you will see that I have dozens of lakes on there. For every backcountry lake fishing clip there is a hiking clip on my 'backpacking and hiking' playlist. enjoy!
Right on. Hope you get up there too. I have dozens of lake fishing videos on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist for my channel if you haven't seen a lot of them and are interested. Good luck.
Nice catch!! Went to Stampede last year, but didn’t fish after slipping and falling on my back on some wet leaves and gashed one of my elbows. Glad I had a change of clothes. Interesting seeing rainbows, as I believe DFW has been mostly planting cutthroats in recent years. May do a drive by on the way up to Portola next week.
Right on. That fall sounds brutal. I've gone down like that on ice a few times and was amazed I didn't bust my head open! I hope to get back to stampede when the weather is a little more stable. They seem to be planting Cutbows and Lahontan Cutthroats more these days but I'm just going by what I've seen and heard from other people fishing. hope you have a nice cruise through the area. Hopefully get some fishing in.
Yeah, it was cold but fun to chill out there for a bit. As long as I don't get skunked I'm good. That fish had killer pink meat and I cooked it up as soon as I got home. So good.

Newish subscriber. Appreciate the content. One major suggestion though, you need to wear a (far better) mic. Reference my favorite fishing channel of Creek Fishing Adventures (CFA) for a fishing channel recording great setup. Btw, headed to a favorite of ours in Caples Lake for 4d/3n starting 5/24. The lodge will be our fishing base camp to all the lakes/rivers/creeks in a 60 mile radius.
@@kevinmuraoka720 Let's just say that there is an easy fix to any poor sound quality issues via a minor investment in a stand alone, wearable mic. His call though. Just my suggestion as a new viewer.
I don't wear any mic. I know the wind was tough to deal with. I used an external mic early on with my GoPro and it won't record audio unless you turn the camera on first and then hit record. Lost audio on some nice fish. Too many seconds to start recording as I'm getting a bite. I have a 'back country lakes and creeks' playlist full of content you might enjoy. I've been planning to go to Caples but it keeps snowing! I have a clip from last year for that lake on my channel.
Good actions. Congratulations. I went to Prosser lake last week and spent 5 hours with the family there. Only actions we had - my wife got a rainbow and nothing :)
At least your Wife got one. I think the mountain reservoirs are going to pick up once it gets a little warmer. When it's cold, sometimes you won't get anything all day, then get 3 fish inside of an hour, and nothing else for the rest of the time you're out there. Maybe you were just there during a cold stretch. Only way you can find out is to get back out there and try again!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 yep. We will come again for sure. Our next target is lake Valley. But with last storms I think we would need to wait more. I drove there last Sunday and the road to daily use parking was under snow about couple feet.
I did. I didn't get a bite for hours on my line that was cast out far. I only moved my second line in after only getting bites in close. Fishing wasn't that hot as it was.
Getting rid of wind noise is way beyond my technical skills! I tried an external mic early on and with my GoPro and unless you turn on the camera first and then hit record it wouldn't record any audio. There are a lot of seconds in between turning on those camera functions and I don't have that kind of time when I'm trying to respond to a bite I lost the audio on a couple big fish and I ditched it. I just try to talk louder but it's tough when the wind is howling like that. Sorry man.
The one I let go and that mackinaw were roughly the same size. To be honest, we were so hungry by the time we got to cooking that fish we completely forgot about it! Besides, he had no cash on him to put up, he was laying an IOU into the pot!

That fish was pushing it! It almost got it's freedom revoked and fried for dinner!
It’s been unseasonably cold and windy here in Montana as well.

Hi Amani, is the road to Stampede clear enough to tow my boat up there? How did the boat launch look? Any road and ramp info would helpful, thanks!
I didn't drive all the way to the boat ramp but there was no snow at all on the road the entire way to the dam where I fished.
