This is probably the scariest ride I'd ever been on. I remember going with my dad to this one when I was little, and holding my breath as we went up. The funniest part was that as soon as the drop started, I instantly exhaled, planning to breathe in again before the drop started. And then we fell, and I was to afraid to take a breath in again during the short ride lol
I love to see vintage rides still operating like this. The clunky noises, the rusty look give a unique feel to these attractions, it even makes them scarier imo :o Thanks for the cool footage!
Rode this so many times as a kid. Was always a great one for not having excitement/wait ratio. A couple fun things we always did were putting a dime on our knee and catching it mid-air on the drop, and then after the ride I (as a kid mind you) would sweep my hand under the seats to take all the change that had fallen out of people's pockets to take and play skeeball. Those were the days..
Demon drop (cedar point) has a special place in my heart. It was my 1st trill ride. My Dad told me, if you can get the quarter on his knee, mid drop, I wouldn't have to go on the Gemini or any others coaster..... I miss the 1\4 and had the time of my life and still riding them.
Thank you very much for this video! I especially appreciate how you show the full cycle, including the return mechanism. Always wondered how that worked as a kid but it was always hidden from view at the amusement park where I used to go to (Galaxyland in Edmonton, Canada).
I used to ride the exact same ride at Six Flags over Georgia when I was a kid called Freefall. Growing up in the south it was a right of passage to ride it lol. I’m so happy to see one still in operation.
It is a relocated roller coaster but sadly wicked twister has been demolished. That one is Possessed which originally used to be Superman from a different park
When this was at Cedar Point, I always loved watching the intricate mechanical dance at the end to bring the car upright, while I was waiting to get on.
Man these types of drop towers were just epically awesome. Wish they'd start making them again, miss the "Stuntman's Freefall" at Six Flags Great Adventure so much. It's also so different from just being risen up and dropping or being air shot, think these could use a come back. Always felt way taller too the way it worked.
Sorry, no roller coaster video today. I hope you all enjoyed this video. Please let me know what you think of Demon Drop in the comments. Also let me know if you miss this ride running at Cedar Point.
At Great America in California, The Edge was described as a "high-speed, fast-accelerating, turbulent roller coaster-type ride". It's close enough, and brings back plenty of memories. 😁
I seriously was injured permanently on Mean Streak. I had to leave after riding it. Week later went to the doctor, after MRI was diagnosed with Cervical Stenosis. No joke.
Yeah Mean Streak had some really rough rides. Some of the worst I've ever seen, although I thought it ran pretty good in its last year. sorry you got injured on it.
Yep, it happened in 2004, I think it was. Being a truck driver at the time, it put me out of service. Haven't been able to do much since. I'm sure part of it was congenital and it just triggered it. My spinal cord it in an "S" shape inside my 5th vertebrae with bone almost completely blocking off spinal fluid to my lower back. Causes a lot of numbness and pain in my extremities. Love your channel, it is now my favorite coaster channel. Remember, I told you about riding The Beast when it was first built at night and in a thunderstorm. This channel stilll "lets" me ride coasters. lol
In 2007 my family bought platinum passes to cedar point, we lived 30 minutes away, with early entry my mom sister and brother would go hit the merry go round. And me and dad would go ride demon drop with no line every time we went. Probably rode it at least 50 times that summer. Some of the fondest memories of my life.
not really, they removed it and then relocated the ocean motion boat ride to sit in it's place. I don't believe that Gatekeeper used any of the Demon Drop space but I'm not 100% on that.
I used to go on one of these at Six Flags Great Adventure, it was called Free Fall, I loved it, but it's not there anymore. It used to break down a lot.
I need to ride this again. They removed this when I was a kid so I've only ridden it a few times. I do remember it though. You don't get that sense of free-fall on Power Tower!
2 questions- how is it not classed as a rollercoaster I mean it has track and wheels right? And also where abouts was this at Cedar point? What replaced it?
Yeah i mean it's a grey area. I don't think anyone has ever questioned it. I personally would be ok calling it a coaster. It was in the very front of the park across the way from the carousel. After it got removed they relocated the ocean motion ride in it's place although it doesn't take up that whole area. Ocean motion was later replaced by wind seeker near the beach.
Coasterfan3657. If you have Google Earth you can search Cedar Point, zoom and center over Ocean Motion, click on the clock icon and it will bring up a timeline slider that you can slide back to 8/2009 and you can see it where Ocean Motion is now. This is kinda fun to play with at different parks and gives you a real appreciation for the advancements in satellite imagery over the years.
Am I crazy, I see the wicked twister which was built AFTER Demon Drop was gone. And the power tower, which was basically a much better version. How is this video possible?
Never mind. I saw it was there till ‘05 or ‘09. Why did I think it left way earlier. Like in the late 90s. I know I didn’t ride after the magnum was built. To many better rides to hit
I am very sure that is the only 1st gen. Intamin drop tower that is in the United States. These things are so unique, and it's impressive how this has not been removed like some of the other ones that were built. Such a unique attraction you really can't find nowadays. I like the concept of that L-shaped layout.
true that, I wish Cedar Point kept it to be honest. They could have relocated it out of the way somewhere in the park. Its a big part of the parks history and is significant since it's the only one in the U.S.
This plays into why I don't think cedar fair will get rid of all their boomerangs. They do have respect for the past and try yo keep pieces of history where feasible.
I know this is a really simple ride but i was a little disappointed you didn't give a review. That's the best part about your channel. Other than that it was a great POV as usual. ☺️
So funny that half the video is just blue sky. I guess if you want a good POV video of this ride that's what is going to be there. I haven't been on one of these since Magic Mountain got rid of theirs - would love to go ride this while it is still operating.
Thanks, I will be going to winter chill this year so i hope to do a live-stream then. If not i will for sure be doing one at the opening of Steel Vengeance and maybe Time Traveler.
I have been on this a million times...lol I Remember when it first opened.. here is neat thing to do the next time you are on it. put a penny on your knee and watch it float....lol as well I have been on it a bunch of times I have been stuck up top a bunch too.....lol also on reason cedar point got rid of it cause it had alot of downtime..and also to make room for other stuff....
lol true that. I did the penny thing back in 2008 when I first rode it at Cedar Point. It would interesting to know how many pennies the park got at the end of the season.
At CP the concrete below was littered with coins. I used to try to be first one in and rake my fingers in the void between the seat and back. My biggest haul if memory serves was like $1.24!
In fact they should have RMC do a custom wood stack with steal top a la topper track and they could claim world's first hybrid dive coaster/drop tower. LOL
I'd be okay with just a little longer rollout with a little airtime bump (like the bottom of Steel Vengeance) before you hit the brakes. How cool would that be to take on your back!
I wish I live in Washington State and now that's its gone.. I can't bring my wife to C.Point and watch her face on the drop.. At least IRON DRAGON , WILD CAT, THE MINE RIDE are still there. Classic Coasters😎
There isn't really anything like this down here in Florida. CoasterFanatics, do you have an Instagram, mine is @colinmcq6, I post pictures from all the Florida parks.
When I mentiond on Facebook that Cedar Point should have never removed Demon Drop, some guy came back with, Cedar Point already has another Drop Tower, and that's why it was moved to Dorney Park. WELL!!! Apparently he Just blowing smoke thinking he was Mr. Know it all. What's that White Structure in front of you as you're riding Demon Drop?? OH WAIT!!! IT'S AN S&S DROP TOWER!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣‼️
I remember this ride ...my favorite of all time ..thanks for letting me remember this great memory .
No prob!
Was sad to hear they moved it from Cedar Point. Glad she still lives on.
I love to see vintage rides still operating like this. The clunky noises, the rusty look give a unique feel to these attractions, it even makes them scarier imo :o
Thanks for the cool footage!
I 100% agree. The whole thing just looks sketchy which adds to the whole experience. Thanks you very much!
I wish there was still more of these first generation Intamin freefalls around.
Yeah this is the only one I'm aware of in the United States.
Those were the days..
that's awesome. thanks for sharing. I did it with a penny once many years ago when it was still at CP.
it makes me feel good to see it still around and at a great park to boot.
I miss Demon Drop at The Point. Thanks for sharing!
I was wearing my Demon Drop shirt at Cedar Point and one of the Millennium Force ops asks me "Demon Drop.. is that a metal band or something?"
What were the ride ops on that day
Demon drop (cedar point) has a special place in my heart. It was my 1st trill ride. My Dad told me, if you can get the quarter on his knee, mid drop, I wouldn't have to go on the Gemini or any others coaster..... I miss the 1\4 and had the time of my life and still riding them.
Nice! great story!

Nice, you are welcome. glad you enjoyed!
I'm glad this is at Dorney Park now because my family would never want to drive to Ohio
So many memories just SEEING it.
I used to ride the exact same ride at Six Flags over Georgia when I was a kid called Freefall. Growing up in the south it was a right of passage to ride it lol. I’m so happy to see one still in operation.
Wait do they have the wicked twister now as well?? I saw it in the background
It is a relocated roller coaster but sadly wicked twister has been demolished. That one is Possessed which originally used to be Superman from a different park
This was the first ride I rode during my first time at Cedar Point. Good memories. I'm glad to see its still going.
awesome, thanks for sharing!
Bring it back. I'm 52 and we have gone every year in my lifetime. This was my favorite!
When this was at Cedar Point, I always loved watching the intricate mechanical dance at the end to bring the car upright, while I was waiting to get on.
I'm thrilled to see this is still operating. I thought it was scrapped when it left Cedar Point. One of my favorites!
It's not. It's been gone for quite some time now.
Man these types of drop towers were just epically awesome. Wish they'd start making them again, miss the "Stuntman's Freefall" at Six Flags Great Adventure so much. It's also so different from just being risen up and dropping or being air shot, think these could use a come back. Always felt way taller too the way it worked.
true that, It would be awesome if intamin came up with a modern version of this.
I remember riding this at Cedar Point so clearly - it's weird to see this view of it looking out at Not-Power-Tower and Not-Wicked-Twister!
Wicked twister was cool but it's not there anymore either
I miss this at cedar point!
These things look a lot older than they really are. Crazy how new the amusement industry still is.
The only time I rode it was my Sophomore year when my high school marching band went to Cedar Point.
Sorry, no roller coaster video today. I hope you all enjoyed this video. Please let me know what you think of Demon Drop in the comments. Also let me know if you miss this ride running at Cedar Point.
CoasterFanatics looks pretty intense but fun
true that.
At Great America in California, The Edge was described as a "high-speed, fast-accelerating, turbulent roller coaster-type ride". It's close enough, and brings back plenty of memories. 😁
Rode that at cedar point the year before they took it out, my back will never ever ever be the same ... R.i.p. to my back
lol, it is a little on the rough side.
Not as bad as the mean streak was lol, can't wait to see what steel vengence has in store :)

Cedar Point is my home park, however wasnt a coaster enthusiast when it was there or when I went to Dorney
yeah not everyone starts right away. Next time you are Dorney you should try it. Very unique!
I have ridden many many drop towers S&S, intamin (Lex Luther) and for some reason the drop on these old small ones feels more intense
The 80's sure made some crazy rides such as this.
Looks Fun
true that.
CoasterFanatics Was it removed From CP for More Space?
not really, they removed it and then relocated the ocean motion boat ride to sit in it's place. I don't believe that Gatekeeper used any of the Demon Drop space but I'm not 100% on that.
This is what a lot of drop rides used to look like, back in the 80s.
Yeah I bet! I just missed the 80's, lol.
Wolve's Gaming! I rode Freefall at Magic Mountain as early as 1982.
I never went on Demon Drop. But I hope I can get back to Dorney to ride it.
nice, Let me know what you think of it when you finally ride it.
Good video! I kinda miss it when it was at CP. Never got the chance to ride it since I first went in 2010, one year after it got removed.
thanks, sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can make it to Dorney someday to ride it.
It may look simple but the sensation is really unique. Definitely enjoyed riding this at Dorney
Agreed, unique ride for sure.
I used to go on one of these at Six Flags Great Adventure, it was called Free Fall, I loved it, but it's not there anymore. It used to break down a lot.
yeah this the only one left in the united states i think.
Demon Drop was my first drop tower.
Nice, Mine was Giant Drop at Six Flags Great America.
Looks like the most slept on ride ever😂
i was too young to ever see this at cedar point, but my dad told me about it cause it was his og ride. wish i couldve rode it though
yeah this was a favorite at CP for many years!
Nice work. Glad to see a 1st Generation Intamin Freefals still running
Yeah they are pretty rare nowadays.
This is the only one left in the US, there is another in Brazil, one in Italy, and two in Japan
nice, thanks for the info. Didn't know that.
so many summer at cedar point. didn't realize this ride had been relocated
looks cool!
Oh goodness gracious
Six Flags Over Georgia use to have a clone of this called Free Fall. It was a fun ride but the brakes could be a jarring experience sometimes.
nice, didn't know that.
What do the inside of the cars look like
Great ride. A bit rough on the neck though..
Yes you just have to keep your head back and you'll be ok.
Where is this right now? That doesn't look like cedar point
I remember marathoning it on it's last night at Cedar Point.
Nice!
I liked it when it was at cedar Point 👍👍
me too!
did you get to ride this at cedar point?
Yes I did. The last time was 2008.
I need to ride this again. They removed this when I was a kid so I've only ridden it a few times. I do remember it though. You don't get that sense of free-fall on Power Tower!
No you don't... Power Tower is the only ride to nauseate me which is why I don't like it. The demon drop was amazing... I miss it soo much.
i worked on the Stuntman's Freefall tower at six flags great adventure in 2001. that was a fun ride to operate but the control panel was gigantic
Nice, Yeah I bet.
Wish it was still at cedar point
me too!
2 questions- how is it not classed as a rollercoaster I mean it has track and wheels right? And also where abouts was this at Cedar point? What replaced it?

Tim K that's cool. I didn't know you can do that. I'll have to try it.
Miss the ride
Whats the song at the start of the video??
Am I crazy, I see the wicked twister which was built AFTER Demon Drop was gone. And the power tower, which was basically a much better version. How is this video possible?
Never mind. I saw it was there till ‘05 or ‘09. Why did I think it left way earlier. Like in the late 90s. I know I didn’t ride after the magnum was built. To many better rides to hit
This video is at Dorney Park after Demon was relocated from Cedar Point. That’s Possessed not Wicked Twister. That tower is Dominator.
I am very sure that is the only 1st gen. Intamin drop tower that is in the United States. These things are so unique, and it's impressive how this has not been removed like some of the other ones that were built. Such a unique attraction you really can't find nowadays. Tony Kim you're right. The remaining first generation Freefals are in Japan, Brazil and Italy
true that, I wish Cedar Point kept it to be honest. They could have relocated it out of the way somewhere in the park. Its a big part of the parks history and is significant since it's the only one in the U.S.
CoasterFanatics Even if CP didn't keep it at least it's still operating
This plays into why I don't think cedar fair will get rid of all their boomerangs. They do have respect for the past and try yo keep pieces of history where feasible.
Yeah that's why I think flying cobras and possibly invertigo are safe.
I know this is a really simple ride but i was a little disappointed you didn't give a review. That's the best part about your channel.
Other than that it was a great POV as usual. ☺️
I apologize, this has been a busy week and I put this together to give you guys something today rather than nothing. Thanks for watching!
CoasterFanatics that's understandable. Keep up the fantastic work!
thanks will do.
So funny that half the video is just blue sky. I guess if you want a good POV video of this ride that's what is going to be there. I haven't been on one of these since Magic Mountain got rid of theirs - would love to go ride this while it is still operating.
Last time i rode this was at cedar point in 1988
Last time i rode it at cedar point i was a kid
Great vid do a live stream plz
Thanks, I will be going to winter chill this year so i hope to do a live-stream then. If not i will for sure be doing one at the opening of Steel Vengeance and maybe Time Traveler.
CoasterFanatics can you sub to me plz?
I can't on this channel but next time i sign on my personal channel i promise I'll subscribe. Thanks for watching!
CoasterFanatics ok sounds great
CoasterFanatics I am ur biggest fan of all time
I have been on this a million times...lol
I Remember when it first opened..
here is neat thing to do the next time you are on it.
put a penny on your knee and watch it float....lol

alot I bet...lol
At CP the concrete below was littered with coins. I used to try to be first one in and rake my fingers in the void between the seat and back. My biggest haul if memory serves was like $1.24!
haha, awesome! Great story.
Edge!
lol, yep.
Sad I never got to ride it
I think this is more of a roller coaster than Pipe Scream or a Larson Loop!
In fact they should have RMC do a custom wood stack with steal top a la topper track and they could claim world's first hybrid dive coaster/drop tower. LOL
That is actually an interesting idea. I like it a lot. Maybe a corkscrew or a loop for the finale, lol.
I'd be okay with just a little longer rollout with a little airtime bump (like the bottom of Steel Vengeance) before you hit the brakes. How cool would that be to take on your back!
that sounds great as well
Awesome ride! However, I think that I prefer the Intamin 2nd Generation Freefalls more... controversy...
They are all good in their own ways.
I finally rode this in July. I felt like I was having a heart attack.
lol nice!
Isn’t it demolished yet? Intamin will not produces more parts.
is it a coaster
no technically not. It's considered like the first generation of drop towers. I can see the argument though that it could be considered a coaster.
Wish there was still more of these around, they look like really fun rides
Yes very fun and unique.
I miss this ride so sad it's gone and replace by a ship that swings back and forth.. Bring back the Demon I miss watching Penny's Flintoff your lap.
lol yeah i miss it too. You can still go to Dorney to ride it if you want.
I wish I live in Washington State and now that's its gone.. I can't bring my wife to C.Point and watch her face on the drop.. At least IRON DRAGON , WILD CAT, THE MINE RIDE are still there. Classic Coasters😎
Watching in a restaurant at washington dc
Nice! are you with the protesters? lol
CoasterFanatics yeah I'm walking out through the crowd of signs so I just stopped to write this lol
Fuck this ride. I chipped my tooth as a kid on the demon drop.
My little sister shit her pants (not literally) waiting in line for this...circa 95-96
There isn't really anything like this down here in Florida. CoasterFanatics, do you have an Instagram, mine is @colinmcq6, I post pictures from all the Florida parks.
No there isn't that i know of. I don't have one yet but I'm thinking about making one before the season starts.
The ride that robs your pockets everytime... watchout..lol
oh yes. zipper pockets are the way to go!
OH WAIT!!! IT'S AN S&S DROP TOWER!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣‼️
pottsville
If you didnt put a penny on your knee then you didnt live it.
Oh hell no
I will never ever try it out.
This ride looks sketchy...
lol, It's pretty old. It's made to look sketchy. Part of the experience.
CoasterFanatics looks like something you would find in a 1920s World's Fair lol
Guy riding gets an f
