Hi Gabriel, I am enjoying your visit to Kazakhstan. Almaty is easy to get around and explore. Very clean and has lots of parks. I look forward to the rest of your videos tomorrow. Take care and keep enjoying your visit. Greetings from Australia
Nice amusement on the top of the hill. The ride that you saw from cable car (that went down on the hill to the city on a track), was a summer toboggan (or someone would say summer luge, mountain coaster, Alpine coaster); this is something very popular in the European Alpine regions in last years (especially Germany, Austria, Slovenia, for instance in Bled, Maribor and Rogla in Slovenia where I rode that) and it seems that it came to Kazakhstan, too, interesting. It differs from amusement park rides that you alone can control the speed of the ride and not someone else or computer.
Almaty is coming together as quite an interesting city, although that bathroom. 😂 Much nicer where you are staying now. Lovely you are getting great service from the hotel, makes the stay even better. The cable car looks like a popular attraction and the view from the top is amazing. Great video 😊
Gabriel. Good evening from Cornwall UK. Thank you for this film of Almaty Kazakhstan. Wonderful to see how great you are doing. It's a nice place! Good food. Sunshine. You took care of the Taxi scam:) Good health Gabriel. Craig.
Frankly, there's not much between the cities of Kazakhstan. Mostly Steppe and small villages. Charyn Canyon (long day trip or you can overnight in the canyon) and surrounding lakes are of interest.
Having llived in KAZ for 8 years, I highly advise against renting a car to drive outside of the city. Getting gas, emergency service, repairs - you do not want to deal with that. Either join a reputable travel agency tour for trips to out of the way places - OR simply get on a train and go Astana. You'll see a lot of the country. Kazakhs under 40 speak Kazakh, English, and Russian. It's part of the school curriculum. You can take a taxi to METEO, the skating rink about Almaty. You can stay in a mountain resort hotel - Lesnaya Skazka. In general, you can just wander around Almaty and enjoy the warm weather. By November 15, there will for sure be snow there.
That was great fun. Lovely birds, so unusual. I enjoy just coming along and listening to your great speaking voice. You are a very young 51 in great shape from all that walking, healthy diet and the most positive attitude.😊❤
Hey bud ,I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for introducing me that mesmerizing music in the beginning of the video . I am grateful eternally. May God and angels watch over you awesome man .
Most places you travel in the former Soviet Union, including KAZ, have shifty taxi drivers staking out clueless foreigners at airports. Even the 'legitimate' taxi drivers in the legitimate taxi lines at the airport can mess with you. It is advisable to make arrangements for your airport transfers with your hotel, your business (if you are there on business), or friends (if you have made friends you can trust there to help you). In the 90s, they actually had taxi drivers kidnap you and take you out to the middle of the Steppe. The 90s was very rough there. Now, they just steal your stuff or force you to fork over a ridiculous amount of money.
Hey man, I live in Astana. Been watching your videos for years. You’ve probably been and gone already (I assume there’s a delay in editing and posting) but let me know if you’d like to meet up if you’re coming up here. I’ll buy you a beer.
Hi Gabriel, it looks like you're settling in, and the adventures are starting to open on the possibilities the trip to the zoo park was incredible the obstacle course was fantastic a clever way of building confidence in young kids something you would see in corporate confidence among employees or military boot camp and rock climbing so California and nobody challenging it. I thought this was going to be a short stay, but something is telling me you are starting to enjoy the ambiance with other things in mind to experience while you're there. I'm hoping you have a guide like in Baku wonderful person who took care of you while you were there, he really went out of his way.
Thank you for this beautiful video. Almaty confirm the impression of a nice, clean and green city. The park on the top is agreable with the amusement facilities. Kazahstan is a big country offering some places of interest. The capital of Astana is an "economic wonder". The Balhash lake and the Caspian Sea with two big cities Aktau and Atirau. I agree with you that the journey in this huge country is connected with stress. I think you have made a good choice staying at Almaty - the biggest city in the country and its former capital.
That bird with the scarlet red breast and gold and black feathers on its head (looked like some head dress worn in ancient Egypt) was amazing, wish I knew the name of it.
great video, as usual 🤙🏻 just curious, man: have you ever considered filming hotel reviews? ever green content, always searchable, could bring in quite a few bucks/ views etc. or too busy schedule to do a full proper review? anyways, bets of luck, can't wait to see your next video. cheers
I was about to type you missed thr beatles statue until right at the end. Its so random when I asked locals Beatles had never been to Kazakhstan but apparently when they asked who did they want thats what the Kazakhs voted for

One thing thats always impressive in former Soviet cities and thats their metro systems. They look like a lot of care and pride went in to them and are cheap, clean and trains run frequent.
A lot of money went into them. And most of it was stolen. In this very Almaty metro began to be built in 1988, and a measly seven stations opened only at the end of 2011! Construction was accompanied by corruption scandals, the last of which (the theft of five billion tenge) dates back to August of this year. And this is just the little that has come to light. My friend, a third world garbage dump is just a third world garbage dump and that’s it. There's nothing to admire there
As a man who living in Kazakhstan, our government is bad if they're really cared about people, they're won't increase prices or making it "free(sellers can set any price)", wasting money into nothing and e.t.c
interesting that Kazakstan is a much poorer country then the USA but theres not a single homeless person on the streets of the major city Amty while all the USA cities have tens of thousands homeless
Because they are not welcomed, and are harassed by cruel teens and policemen. Because such a position is extremely undesirable, people have strong family ties and relatives tend to help each other. I prefer living in Vancouver, love my crackers on the streets
