    Mushrooms did wonders in my life. I could remember several years ago, I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was actually diagnosed with ADHD. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with related health challenges.

      Congrats buddy. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (not just psychedelic ones) There are so many people today using magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.

I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them

      I'm so very happy for you mate, Psilocybin is absolutely amazing, the way it shows you things, the way it teaches you things. I can not believe our world and our people shows less interest about it's helpfulness to humanity. It's love. The mushrooms heals people by showing the truth, it would be so beneficial for so many people, especially politicians and the rich who have lost their way and every other persons out there.

      The sense of wonder is infinite in that moment. I think that is why spirituality ever existed. Also we shouldnt demonize psychodelics. Especially with how groundbreaking a trip can be. It can make you realize there is more to this world than we know. I dont care if someone calls it a religous experience, a spiritual experience or an ascension of consciousness. It is still meaningful.

My thimble that I brought back into this world is that everything is a contingent reality and the small, frightened and profane carnival show we are running here on earth could be completely transformed with the right language and intention toward a real and lasting new vision for the human experience beyond tribe and territory…

    Wish I could say my trip was this wonderful. I didn't really trust anyone enough to be with me, so I did 4g all by myself, never having done it before. There was a while where I did experience profound beauty and love, but I spent more time trying desperately to regain my sense of reality and make sure I didn't do anything I shouldn't, like calling my sister or parents to gush about how much I love them. I was continually reminding myself that I'd taken drugs and it would end eventually. The day after was filled with existential dread and racing, paranoid thoughts. My overall takeaway was that I didn't need that stuff to figure things out or become a more whole person, I'm already on the right track and have the tools I need inside myself. Also that I should trust people more, and that "hell" is being alone in the universe.

    I miss you, Sam. I know you'll probably never read this. But I remember listening to you back when Christopher Hitchens was around, that's how I found you. You were a guiding light for me and I read all your books. I listened to Waking Up from episode 1, back when it was a podcast. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the way you helped Sheppard me into the mind-state I'm in now. I think a lot of the most successful and fastest growing podcasts are essentially extensions of what you started. Huberman, Chris Williamson, those guys are carrying on what you started.
    I only wish the best for you, my man. And I hope to hear more from you, this is something you have more than a right to take part in.
    Most of us don't agree with you, I don't agree with you on most things I hear you say these days. It seems as though you've let your principals overtake your capacity for rational thinking sometimes. But who am I to judge.
    I just want you to know that I would kill to hear you get back out there the way you used to be, man. Christopher Hitchens is dead, Rest In Peace. But you're still here and I know you had the utmost respect for him... So think. What would he do?
    Again, who am I to talk. This comment is more of a letter, something I know you probably won't read, but something I've been holding onto for a long time.
    Miss you Sam, I hope you get back into the fray. It's not as bad as you think it is trust me.. worst case scenario, you give us a good laugh. You always had a good sense of humor.

    "Just return me to my normal human brain please"
    This hit so hard. It's the same thing i came to realize, and had the most powerful implications. Regardless of the beauty and mystery of the psychedelic experience, it is not a state we are meant to be in. It's terrifying and crippling, objectively. A human cannot fulfill their true purpose in that state. It's fine to visit, but life destroying to remain. Some people need to learn that lesson first hand in their search for understanding, but you'd be perfectly fine to trust and believe your mind is at it's best when you are sober. Some do not have the humility to admit it, and cling to the fleeting phantom of enlightenment that comes with these experiences, destroying themselves in the process..

    • @SonnyMoonie
      @SonnyMoonie 9 місяців тому

      But wait, in my experience, and the experience of many others, mushrooms don't do anything, except cause some more laughing, at moments when one would have laughed anyway. There are no effects that I had besides that. So, what does "the psychedelic experience" mean, that you can say it has a "beauty and mystery"? Sam in this video doesn't even mention that effect, laughing, but only describes having the impression that his mind could go to any new thing, while not saying that his mind actually experienced any new thing at all, and mentions forgetting that he took a drug. Sounds really dumb, to me. Why do people make a big deal of it? Some people want to waste their time taking drugs and just laughing meaninglessly, forgetting things. It doesn't sound like it's for me.

      @@Llllillilililililillll Come on, please, can someone be sensible about this subject? Does it have any visual effects? Yes or no. Does it have any sensation effects? Yes or no. Everyone's on about how it has some super result that can't be described in words, meanwhile, there's no way to know if you got an effect at all, because there are no claims that it does anything that can be sensed or thought and put into words. It's all this blather in words, about how it's something that can't be put into words. Please, that sounds so stupid, some drug for which no effects or results are claimed, there's no predicted effect, no predicted thing that will change in any of your senses or thought, but somehow anyway people can go on about "breaking through" and other metaphorical effects that are totally undefined. Can you see how this is irrational? There's a drug, mushrooms, and maybe it has no effect at all, but people are talking as if there's some super effect, and as if "not being able to speak" is some sort of drug effect, rather than that maybe, if you've taken a drug that has no effects, maybe you don't have anything to say about it, or you're embarrassed to try to say anything about it, because you don't notice any effect. Anxiety is just thoughts, in the end. You'll see that more clearly when you trip. That's not to say you won't necessarily have a challenging time. But just because it's challenging doesn't mean it isn't life-alteringly beneficial.

      @@Jacob-Vivimord agree. It's a mixture of unpleasant thoughts and accompanying bodily sensations (especially in the case of panic disorder), that at times can be overwhelming, but are nonetheless harmless.
      I've practiced meditation with great success with regards to dealing with OCD, to a point where the compulsions can be easily observed from a detached state. Needless to say, the practice cured the disorder.
      For panic disorder, I've used CBT with tremendous success, recognizing the subjectivity of sensations and distorted thinking, to a point where I readily embrace whatever comes my way (even seek it out - exposure practice).
      However, given my predisposition for the spectrum of anxiety disorders, and high trait neuroticism, I recognize the danger of a potentially bad experience with regards to psychedelics, especially considering the fact how profoundly deep and all encompassing they can get.
      Take for example panic disorder which has its roots in a harmless yet quite unpleasant, and greatly misinterpreted, experiences. Such profound fears and miss interpretations are not to be taken lightly. Yes they are harmless, but can impose unnecessary subjective suffering.
      Sadly, they are not a cure-for-all mental ailments.

      @@slavkodesik855 Well said, and I do understand. There's certainly risks of a bad time, but that's why you have a sitter.
      While I agree that they are not a cure-all for mental disorders, I think a strong trip CAN help with anxiety. I'm speaking from experience, having previously been inclined towards agoraphobia myself.
      You're right about them being all-encompassing,. Beyond thought, beyond fear. Beyond the reality you thought you knew. That's exactly WHY they can help with panic.
      To be clear, though, I'm not trying to talk you into doing anything you don't want to do, haha.

      It was almost like it was daring me to try and hang on or try and control it, and once you accept that you cant control it the real insight is revealed to you. You must let go

    Well In hindsight, I was one of those people who probably needed a guide.. After a nightmare of a trip which ending up with me In a mental health ward 6 weeks later..
    I can only advocate for extreme caution.
    Even considering my roughly dozen or so psychedelic experiences before this had all been wonderful.. my anxiety, depression, and undiagnosed ADD was a recipe for disaster waiting to happen.
    It took months break free from what was likely a bizarre drug induced delusion, it at least started off as one, but then a nightmare unfolded which I still can't be sure was a delusion, almost 2 years after it all.
    I'm much stronger than ever before in regards to mental health now at least, but it wasn't an ideal way to get there.
    I possibly had synesthesia where I heard my own thoughts as other peoples voices, and began to catastrophize a scenario where my friends in my the LSD trip with me thought badly of me, and misunderstood me, which then somehow escalated into them thinking I was some kind of maniac, and from there wanting to coerce me into suicide, and if I didn't comply, they'd kill me them selves and make it look like suicide..
    And like Sam's mushroom trip, there's another galaxy worth of details to this story that would take a lot of time to unfold, but at least now I'm writing a book about it all to explain what I can, In hope that it can help prevent others suffering from mental health struggles which are all too common.

      What do you think it says about what psychedelics are supposed to do? It doesn't say that mushrooms caused any feeling or sensation for him. It doesn't say it caused any hallucinations or distortions of perception, even something trivial seeming like brighter colors. All he's saying is like it caused an experience that seemed important, of his mind seeming open or able to go further, and forgetting that he took a drug. That's purely cognitive effects that he mentioned, and not good ones, really stupid sounding cognitive effects, that sound undesirable: to have the illusion one's mind is open and free to think of anything, without saying one actually thought of anything different, or experienced anything really different.
      I didn't get any feeling or sensation or tingling or hallucination or colors or cognitive effect when I tried it. I just laughed more, when I was watching a stupid television comedy anyway, as I and the people I was with would do anyway on an evening back then. I was okay with it, and wasn't saying much, which seemed like because I didn't know to expect more from it seriously anyway. What do you think of that? Did I miss something about what it was supposed to do? I still don't know, from this video explanation or description, which doesn't help. Do you still think the video is a good explanation or description?

    The moment I took mushrooms for the first time and it starting to work after 30-45 minutes, my severe depression was gone as fast as a snowflake lasts in hell. It's hard to comprehend that there's so many people are walking around depressed and either don't know about the medicinal properties of mushrooms or think it's bad because it's called "drugs". I really hope that one day mushrooms will be accepted worldwide as the way to end depression.

      I don't think Sam offered any better explanation. If anything, this useless video made me doubt his general wisdom. I still don't get drugs or the long-term benefit. Never mind the "trip." I want to know if there is a practical justification for having the experience. So far, it seems like none.

    • @AB-tn3jd
      @AB-tn3jd 9 місяців тому

      @@LindaLoma-v2k Practically, there isn't. What Sam entailed here, which I thought the most important, is that it stretches your mind as its never been stretched before, as if it "needed" that stretch. Nobody should be doing drugs like this all the time, but for the first and only time it is experienced, it can alter you.

    • @LindaLoma-v2k
      @LindaLoma-v2k 9 місяців тому

      @@AB-tn3jd Since that alteration isn't practical, it seems useless. Since I listened to this video, yesterday, I've been wondering how does the homeless person become not homeless after experiencing a shroom trip? How does the disabled person become not disabed after a trip? How does the victim of abuse become not abused after shrooms? How does the teen who is bullied at school become not bullied because of this experience?
      So, thanks for addressing my questions that the experience has absolutely no practical applications and despite the mental clarity and awareness it may provide...life will still suck for people stuck in their circumstances!
      I mean if the experience will not help me win the lottery, then...pass.

    • @AB-tn3jd
      @AB-tn3jd 9 місяців тому

      @@LindaLoma-v2k Yup. It won't give you superpowers or anything, won't change your situation. Sometimes people attribute getting out of unfortunate situations they're in to experience(s) they've had on drugs, which is another story altogether, but generally it's just to escape reality for a bit.

    my first trip (lsd)was very nice. i never forgot that I had taken a drug. in fact, i was happy that i had taken a drug. i was with a bunch of friends who had also taken the drug. it was a pleasant night in greece and the host was kind enough to include a hooka pipe filled with tobacco and hashish. All was pleasant and overwhelming at the same time. the apartment had balconies with wide double doors. we came and went as we pleased. As we came down and the morning came up we walked to the beach and sat, tired, calm, and fascinated. Or, at least i did. I'd do it again if i was ** years younger.

      @@TheAlpineAddict There are states which can only be attained through deep reflection, meditation, and expansion of one's heart center and mind, without any use of drugs at all. One typically has to reach a certain 'stage' of consciousness in order to experience such a state.
      States are temporary, stages are permanent.

    I must say that description of re-entry is not at all how it went for me, it was more like a tide rolling in to reality, and then drawing back out to higher consciousness, repeating slowly 5 or 6 times until the tide came fully in and I was home in my everyday experience. Very gently and the afterglow lasted a few days while I digested everything I had experienced.
